Hehe; thx. Still here, just had to take a quick nap a bit.

Off topic but meh.
i thought it was all old navy, or orbit gum like ...
As long as 'the top performers' keep posting videos and brag how good they are, it'll get worse before it gets better, they really aren't doing themselves or anyone else any favors. Do you think anyone(at Cryptic) really cares about these top performers? Actually, they probably do, and they probably look at them as a benchmark of what to nerf next.
This isn't exactly a new concept either, many other game companies have done the same; look over YouTube for walkthroughs or how do make yourself uber, then they 'tweak' to nullify it.
As a result, EVERYONE suffers, not just the top performers, but the top performers suffer the most.
Anyway, as far as I'm concerned, this is on Cryptic. They've really made a mess of things due to this new difficultly and by increasing the level cap along with new tiered ships. All it has done basically, is satisfy a low number of population players, while widening the gap between good and weak players. I see threads all the time where people claim the game is 'way too difficult now' and in that same thread someone replies, 'no, it's still way to easy'. For Cryptic to produce more content in the future is now going to become much more difficult for them now, but chances are, they won't really care all that much.
Retired. I'm now in search for that perfect space anomaly.
well im defo not one of the super elite . i think of my ship as decent for me. but i do own all the Klingon items from the c store. dont mean much sitn like we have alott to buy anyways.
but i lvled my main toon up in 2 days after launch and spent the rest of the week doing the spec points. im 4 short of a complete tree on him. but im not spending the points im saving all that would have went into the ground. as i hardly do ground and when i do i still manage to get by. so i plan on having enough saved up to complete atleast one complete tree for space the day it comes out if ever. and i already finished the delta rep and have tokens on my others using up all the delta marks they claimed during entity and saved for when i had sponsorship token for them all.
but why i posted is i have 9 other Klingon alts. and with the way things are now im jsut not playing them except to gather dil during events. no way im investing that much time into multiple toons anymore. for gear and ship upgrades and then the spec tree grind that has gone mad . and as a result of the time involved i play less now. where if they had left it alone my main would have been done and then id be working on another alt. then another than another figure a month to 2 weeks for comp;etition per toon with 10 toons im set for 5 months before i have a chance to get bored or mad. unlike now. im a month in and cant stand to log in really.
Trophies for killing FEDS ahh those were the days.

You are not grasping the true form.
This has NOTHING, I repeat, NOTHING to do with top players and top DPS. Stopping telling yourselves this lie.
Cryptic is certainly using their accomplishments as an excuse, but exactly what has been accomplished?
ANY of the top DPS guys I know can tear through elite content WITHOUT all the gimmicky powerups , gold TRIBBLE and T6 ships. They don't quite tear through it as fast as the old stuff, but have no doubt, some of these people can crank out gigantic DPS.
None of this is actually targeted at them -- THEY are not going to be the ones sinking tons of cash into upgrades because I assure you -- they do NOT - NEED - THEM.
It is bait, for everyone else.
No one likes to be the underdog, or hammer away at an NPC for thirty seconds and barely take it shields down, then see some clown blow the same ship up in four seconds. So they increase difficulty until instead of scraping by, the lowest 70% need to bu upgrades and spend money -- and Cryptic points at the elite, still blasting away, as proof that it works.
The more people keep blaming the elites for this, the further you move away from the facts that the system was working fine. IF this was about elites, they could have simply created a new 'elite' tier of difficulty and not done ANY of this horrific upgrade TRIBBLE, and made T6 ships just slightly more powerful than T5.
The ones we really need to thank for the current over-monetized BS we are seeing are the ones who keep throwing money at every grind Cryptic has elected to throw at us.
Yes, I have made this point in another thread, I believe. If not for people (of which I am probably one) throwing hundreds or thousands of dollars a year at the game, it would have not gotten this far.

Call the cops, peps on these forums believe it is a crime to spend money on this game!!
It's being balanced around top performance in terms of the amount of time and money you are willing to spend; balanced for whales.
Having to replay over 600 story mission per character to get through specialization ain't exactly for the casuals...
It used to be you'd earn when you started a timegate in the reputation system.
That went away and what was 6 weeks for a rep is now what, 4-6 months of crafting timegates in where it's impossible to only do on 1 character...
And if you think back, exploration, vendor trash, doff upgrinder, colonzation chains, reputation passives, console fabrication, b'tran double daily etc etc and even nerfing dil for DR you will see it's a pattern of less for more or rather as with upgrading, absolutely copy-pasted blank stats for MILLIONS of dil.
With DR we learned that 700$ per ship for copy-pasted stats isn't too much, people don't have a problem with it, so you can guess what's going to happen next.
But it has nothing to do with dps...
Better stats come into play in terms of them wanting to sell the fake star trek ships - that's the reason they released a level cap but a level cap ONLY for fake ships they were trying to sell.
Of course it doesn't make sense to make the ships better when the game is super easy on elite; to sell fake ships we needed to give them better stats and to give them better stats we needed harder maps.
Flaming people for parsing their dps might be fun enough but is completely irrelevant for this topic.
Ain't no one could stop fake ships coming out now - when they run out of canon ships they run out how is that dps'ers fault again.
So yeah dps is tied to fake ships -> better stats -> harder maps but only very remotely and indirectly.
Of course you can make a point about how whacked it is to make the entire game into a dps wall to sell all that copy-paste stuff and the fake ships but again that ain't the dps'ers fault and it ain't the dps'ers responsibility.
Cryptic has to take responsibility for their own game in where they make it a place to also fly engi and sci.

Um, people have bought all the new power creep ships up until this point without major changes in game mechanics.
Somehow I think DR came about for something other than sales of ships. I can't imagine they had trouble selling ships before this.
I think we should all stop blaming each other and place the blame squarely where it is deserved; on Cryptic's shoulders.
Divide and conquer is a well known strategy
It's not the casual players, it's Cryptic.
It's not the content tourists, it's Cryptic.
It's not the whales, it's Cryptic.
It's not the elite players, it's Cryptic.
Cryptic want to make more money and can't lose face to PWE, so of course they will blame everyone else except themselves. The TD "exploit" was a classic example of this. We had a dev post as 'Q' and pretty much accuse a large number of players as exploiters, rather than admit their mistake and make good on it. Then D'Angelo popped in and doubled down on that. Next minute we're all at each others throats and it's been like that for nearly a month now.
Don't fall for the propaganda. It's Cryptic's fault, plain and simple.
I.....actually agree 100% with this. Cryptic, its time to start putting complaints of gameplay being too easy on the back burner. Idk if you noticed, but those threads are still being out up. But those threads are created by such a small fraction of the playerbase that they shouldnt be influencing your decisions. Most of us will never have the time or money to waste trying to be the absolute best. All we want is for our builds and our opponents to be on fairly even ground. I'll probably NEVER have the dps required to play in any if the elite content anymore. I barely scrape by on advanced. I really think its time to have a seperate server for those top dps players. Make the content extremely punishing, make the rewards extremely good, but give us average guys back our old game. I personally found most elite content challenging enough before DR. It was actually fun, and I didn't have to worry about other players doing their jobs too much.
Why do people still think Cryptic increased difficulty to please the high DPSers? Cryptic did that to give everyone a reason to buy high-end gear and then upgrade the TRIBBLE out of it. Plain and simple.

Well, they've backtracked so much on normal and advanced difficulty that there's now no need to upgrade unless you just want the best (and a glance at the queue list shows that the old Borg STFs still don't have elite versions again). So if that's the goal, they're as bad at it as they are at balancing XP rewards and requirements.
Let the Top Performers have Elite, but focus the game around the average player. Give each Elite Queue a title to keep them happy.
Get rid of that stupid mandatory optional thing that Advanceds now have. Advanced was supposed to be the Old Elites with no changes except for the obvious changes for fighting at a higher level. There should be a fail condition for some Queues like letting IKS Kang being destroyed in Cure Space, but letting it drop below 75% should just reduce the reward at the end.
Finally, either remove BNPs, VCIs, IIs, etc or allow some way to craft them like 1 BNP costs 50 Omega Marks.

Right. So, no matter why they decided to make queues more difficult, they failed.
I dont blame the high DPSers, I really dont. All they are doing is playing the game they want to play at the best of their abilities. Again, STO is essentially a pure PvE game so what do I care that someone is bringing in 3-4X more (or less) dps than myself? More importantly, why should Cryptic care?
OK, I get it if we level too fast well get bored and possibly leave. Thats not the fault of the player but of the game and the devs who should be ensuring this game is entertaining, engaging and rewarding. Slowing us down for fear well leave sooner sends a VERY BAD message from Cryptic in my opinion. Hey, we know the game is broken and your attention spans are limited, so instead of actually fixing anything were just going to nerf your abilities and xp gain while increasing the npc hit points and calling it a fix!
No, the high/low/average DPSers, hardcore/casual gamers are not to blame for the state of the game in any sense. Its Cryptic, hands-down.
And its not going to get any better any time soon.
Um, people have bought all the new power creep ships up until this point without major changes in game mechanics.
Somehow I think DR came about for something other than sales of ships. I can't imagine they had trouble selling ships before this.
Yep, people have bought the official star trek ships.
Now we entering into the era of un-official ships - remember the reaction to the intel ships?
Do you believe in the 4 years they could have released a level cap, it's a random co-incidence they release it at the exact turning point of fake star trek ships...
... and then only give the fake ships new animations? Think junior, think.
I mean look at what you are trying to make a case for.
That the 600 story replays, super nerfed exp x 3 and nerfed dil was done for the players' sake? Really?
