A tactic I have used with friends in the past was that I would go in on point in my sci ship and use TBR to push the Tholians away from the trapped ships. My friends would move in behind me and rescue the ship. Once the ship was rescued, the Tholians warp away.
I would rather see Optional Objectives actually be.. Optional.
Normal Mode - No Optional Objectives
Advanced - Optional Objectives, failure results in slightly reduced rewards but the mission continues.
Elite - All objectives are required.
There are ways of making the Optionals important that don't involve ending the mission in failure.
Agree wholeheartedly. Most of us used the old elites as our puggable somthing to do prior to dr. Since advanced has taken that spot it needs to be pugable too. Anything else just kills the incentive to just jump in on one on your own. Sure, you can use channels and fleeties to form groups, but sometimes you just want to jump in and shoot something.
I haven't read this entire thread but I agree with the OP.
I still want to go through the original STFs (The Cure, etc.) but the queues are always empty and my fleet is currently too busy with the Mirror mission. Well last night, I found The Cure was up in Advanced so I hopped in.
We failed the optional so it booted us out. No more The Cure for me. Plus I have to wait AN HOUR to try again.
Cryptic, you need to rework this. It's ridiculous.
I find that funny. Azure Nebula does't require any DPS at all.
You are more efficient having a couple of tanks on the team.
The objektive is not killing Tholians.
If you want head first through that HP wall, of course a pug will fail. Go around. Either by having one player distracting the enemy or by stealth. I believe the Intel ships can do that.
This, always been the problem with players and this map. The map is not about killing things, killing things do not win.... freeing ships win. If you can free a ship without firing a f*ucking shot, great. But I've seen my share of people who rage over ships getting freed before they killed the tholians. As if killing the Tholians really mattered.
