Game Issues

Hello Everyone,

I own a rather high end laptop, and i have returned to STO from a small break to see the new contents, explore the Delta Quadrant etc.

I have the option to play via steam or Arc.

I prefer steam and had the login freeze issue which i got around with the starting in safe mode.
That was working all good and proper for a while, now however i get a problem even logging in of late, and when i do finally get into the game, i get bad disconnections.

I have even turned all the details down, but it's hard to play in my Jemmy Bug due to poor connection that moves like a dreadnaught cruiser.

I'm at my wits end, and i want to do is enjoy the new content.

Cheers

It is not them, but the network...I am pinging the STO server and Verizon *my ISP*, and it is crapping out on both ends. So, whatever is happening at the gateway servers...looks pretty bad.

Haven't had any problems playing STO this week, so your disconnects are probably due to Internet Route path issues. And without network diagnostic information, its anyone's guess as to the cause of this...

You do know that on Windows PC (desktop or laptop) you can change your profile from Admin to Gamer. So that means you don't have to have all the services running and thus you can turn up the graphics to whatever level you want.

So by default your the Admin of your PC. Now go in to the control panel and create a Gamer account. Doesn't have to be the Admin. Thus everything won't be loaded. So that profile would just be for playing STO.

Or you can keep your Admin Profile and use Jet Boost Free, this will disable features to boost your PC for Gaming. I don't use this program any more. But something to consider.

If you have 8 GB or more of RAM you could consider disabling the Swap File use for extra RAM via the HDD. That process was ideal for when systems only had 1, 2, 4 GB of RAM. Once you got higher no need to run it. Unless you got out of memory error.
