All jokes and fun aside ( like in my first post in this thread) Since you are messing around with pets, while you're there you should take a look at the carrier controls.

There really seems to be no discernible difference between the Attack and Intercept commands. Which ever one you pick, the pets just fly around like idiots. Intercept mode is supposed to make the pets target other small craft and targetable torpedos, but they never do.

Escort works, I guess, but they still just die in seconds then stay by the carrier after respawning. This is a pointless command.

Recall seems to be hit or miss depending on the type of hangar pet you use. Some of them will come straight back to the ship, where as others ( like the BOPs for the Vo'Quv) they just sit there, as if they are saying to each other " You go., " No you go!" "Okay I'll go. " "Wait I thought I was going?" This goes on for sometimes 30 seconds.

Huh. I thought my vector pets had more of a bite than I remembered.

This sucks. They were pretty useful for keeping Vaadwaur ship busy while I singled out and smashed them one at a time.

Also, Cryptic ignoring the testing done on Tribble is not a new thing. That has been a thing for a very, very long time now.

That joke was about classy as a Risian/Orion lovechild sitting in a bed with a ferengi

    You’re under the impression I was joking….

Constructive criticism? That has merit… not a lot, but some. What I want is what another user posted… show us the numbers. Show us how the pets are so op’d that thye provide an unfair advantage over other players who chose to use hangars. The last bit is important. I don’t want to see numbers of carriers and other hangar ships vs non hangar ships. If you’re going to do that you might as well strip away any ship over T1 because it’s so much more powerful than the Miranda…

So that’s it. Show us the numbers. Show me how 2 Advanced Romulan Drones are SO much op than the Obilesk pets, Type 8 shuttles (x6) etc.

esit: The way Cryptic is trying to “ensure” balance…

What’s the point in flying a crusier or tac or sci if they’re all going to be the same? Sure, get a few different abilities here and there but if everything is cookiecutter, what’s the point?

Yeah, I don't get this. My pets die faster than I can keep them out. Nerfing them will make them even more pointless than they are now.

And I didn't see the Aquarius on the list. Does this mean it's been spared?

I have the aquatic carrier, and my pets do more damage than I do. But that IS intentional on my part.

This is the first carrier I have ever had in this game. I have the Scimitar, but the Romulan Drones don't last long enough to do a lot of damage anyway. However, the way I set up the Aquatic carrier is so that I can add support to my pets, and still do damage.

I allow my pets to soak up a lot of the damage, and try to keep them healed. This means more heals on my ship, instead of offensive skills. By doing this, they stay alive longer, and I keep my own damage output lower. If the Aquatic pets are nerfed, then what is the point of having pets on the ship?

Carriers are not suppose to do all the work, and the pets just sit around to watch. They are suppose to be the ones that go out and do most of the work, and be supported by the carrier.

If you think about it, the pets are basically an extension of the ship itself. If you nerf them, then you are taking away from that ship. If the pets become more useless than they are now, it is like taking a ship with 5 forward weapon slots, and not letting one or more of them be used for anything. Makes no sense.

Each weapon, and console slot are designed to increase the usefulness of the ship. To give a ship those slots, but not let them be used is pointless. Nerfing the pets, which are essentially a part of the ship, you are making a part of the ship useless. This will serve no purpose other than pushing players away from them, and into other types of ships to fly.

Some players love flying their carriers, and prefer them to other types of ships. Instead of nerfing them, they should be buffed up so that they are more useful. For example, give them an AI. As it is, i doubt they have one. They fly up to an enemy that was just destroyed, and get hit by the core breach. Or an area of effect attack can wipe them out faster than heals can be applied to them. And other times, we need to tell them to dock if we need to go more than 10km away, because they take so long to get to where we are going. That is like a fighter jet today not being able to dock with a carrier, because the ship is outrunning the jet.

There needs to be improvements to the pets, not doing things to make them less useful.

I hope that the decision to make them useless is reconsidered. I started flying the Aquatic carrier before DR launched, and fell in love with it. I don't want it to become a useless ship because someone doesn't like carriers, and wants to get rid of them.

Yeah, I can't keep my pets alive in the MI event due to all of the cruisers spamming tractor beam repulsors. So......lets make them weaker. I have my Atrox set up to strip shields so my pets can pummel the hulls and now you are going to make that for too ineffective to mater. Thanks.

Its a company, so my voice is very loud if I stop voting everything is a-ok with my wallet.

I'm just one voice how many more players are voting with their wallets? Looking at the forums as of late I'm not the only one doing this.

I want to play this game I don't mind spending money but only if I feel like my investment is worth it.

In the past month I have put 500 bucks into this game. I'm an owner OP I drive a truck and make decent money so a hundred bucks in a week doesn't hurt me. I upped my data plan to 30 gigs a month so I can play when I'm stopped for the night. The reason I am still here is my love of trek and more importantly my friends are here.

my plan of spending that money each week is on hold so either they fix the bugs, fix the attitude of the devs and open lines of communication or I spend my money on something else.

    It's pretty simple.

A lot of that is just frustration coming out as anger.

If the devs don't post this information in anger, then there's no reason to respond in anger. If people can't make a clear communication over whether the change is good or bad without resorting to toxic rhetoric, then they have nothing valuable to contribute.
The camel's back was broken a while back and now it's getting kicked to death.

    Rhetoric like this.
Players are just fed up with the bs and see it for what it is. Sad, cause the Devs really have put out some great stuff but more recent stuff is garbage. Take, take, nerf, nerf.

That's fine and all, but it doesn't really get us anywhere productive.
Anyone can sit here all day and post niceties as criticism

They can. But they choose not to.
but they won't listen or respond unless it's POSITIVE and that's a problem.

No, it isn't. That's how adults deal with problems in the real world.

Really. Dont know what data you are looking at. All the pets I see get blown up almost as soon as they launch and i have yet to see a pet produce anything close to impressive damage. If anything I would think they would want buffing. Could you give us some numbers to go on so we know just how much of a nerf they are getting?

So pets get unintentionally buffed from DR launch, Cryptic notices it and posts about a future fix, and people start claiming carriers are dead. I'm sorry, but my frigates having ~10k more hull HP than the ship launching said frigates and seeing ~30k crits from my Mesh Weavers' thermionic torpedoes is most likely not what was intended.

    ugh, always so negative.

I think I will take the high road on this one

Maybe they are nerfing them because they are going to use the whole shuttle system for something useful like the ability to equip carrier pets like secondary ships.

so they will release a 'shuttle' for each pet type and you can gear them using the shuttle slot

the MVAM and the Saucer Sep.....hell if I know

gimme a break I just hoping here!

If anything, they will probably be raising the Pet dodge/defense like Iconians said.
makes sense, because if they have high damage and you cant hit them, but when you DO hit them, you can't kill them..that would be a bit much.

What I'm getting at is we should wait until it comes out to see what is actually changed before we go off screaming like Vegeta.

@ crypticgeko Is this on Tribble right now?

In some cases, the sum of the players pets were far outperforming the player’s ship itself.
That was true before DR, I saw players with less DPS than my pets :D But I never thought my pets were outperforming. However, i would say those players were underperforming. Unfortunately, I don't think there is a way to buff them.

As mentioned before, fighters dies already too fast. It was always true, and the not-so-new pet UI and pet XP only make it more obvious. A nerf will not help.

A nerf was necessary, but maybe you should work on balancing the pets somewhere in the future ?

Whelp, there goes any remaining use of the Obelisk Swarmers. They already died fast; even with the boost they got from NPC scaling. I thought that DR had finally given Carrier Pets a much-needed boost to encourage variety. I thought wrong.

Hey Cryptic, I have a brilliant, and revolutionary plan. One so amazing and so simple, it'd blow your mind.

Why don't you just scale back all your silly NPC HP/Shield/Resistances back to Pre-DR standards? You've always been taking the easy and lazy way out, so why don't you do it again and just roll back NPC scaling to pre-DR status? With the XP nerfed to almost nothing, this will not cut into your insistence we don't level up fast. And most all of your magic issues with things such as carrier pets or separation pets will fall back in-line to what it was before.

In fact, let me toss in another revolutionary idea that will also give you a bit more money; go sell Epic versions of existing Elite Hangar Pets in the C-Store for 500 Zen per purchase. They would basically Elite Pets on steroids that equal their current super selves. I won't lie; I'd buy a few actually useable Hangar pets.

I appreciate this post is the wrong way around, but please bare with me. The Helpful Idea will come first

Helpful idea: If you're determined to go through with this silly nerf, then please at least consider this: Can I have a full hanger bay when I warp into a system!

Now the Rage/questioning the sanity of the Dev's.

Are you kidding me? Fighters already explode as soon as hit by some solar wind. If they're throwing out too much damage why not nerf that instead of their hit points? It all seems a bit arrse about face.
It really feels like you're trying to push people away, I mean I suspect I won't be getting a refund for all the carriers, Carrier pets and such forth that I've spent money on?

If we have trouble playing just the Advanced level qued missions, how in the hell are we going to play the Elite?

So Please, stop Nerfing. make this game playable and fix the bugs we care about. Hell i'd be happy to get the trays fixed again. i'm tired of having to reset it every damn time i enter a que.

I'll bet they got hit with DR's NPC buffs. I know my Fer'Jai frigates didn't have that much HP pre-DR, and I was getting suspect of their high damage crits (though they were THY trics).

The weavers, otoh, I've gotten since DR launch. Once I started seeing huge crits from the thermionic torpedoes, I really started to think something wasn't right.
