bob, as your opinion that can be very subjective. I'm not seeing the same biased view you are.
However, that does NOT mean both sides of an argument are purely subjective and neither is correct. That's a cop-out to simply ignore the other side which you disagree with.
This game is great nothing wrong with leveling except the FAST FOOD mind set.
Got to have it now !!!
Got to have it right now!!!
Well the entire cosmos does not revolve around free and fast, working for something makes you appreciate it more.
This being a game lets play, have fun, run the BUG Hunt, and go on a STF.
Just start having fun and stop playing forum PVP with Cryptic.
Think about going out and getting yourself a date some of you are so whiny you sound like you need some love.
Sometimes it's things like this that I wish for a TCP/IP protocol to let me reach in the internet and smack someone upside the head.
The loads of bugs that cryptic ignored when it was on tribble and reported is bad enough, but the 70% XP nerf GAME WIDE and the insulting tone of the EP is bad for business.
Throw in the massive game wide reward nerf, we're grinding HP sponges longer for little reward. The PvE queues are extremely empty, more empty than when LoR was released. I have never seen the queues so empty.
Go to different zones and initiate conversation about DR problems and the zone will be hot for a long time.
If everything is fine, I want what ever doctor medicated you with, or a visit to your world. You have unicorns in it?
With all the game is dying doom and gloom threads people might think STO is unplayable right now, but that is far from the truth, I am having no problems leveling.
I just leveled a character after this patch with no problems at all, I don't see a problem with the pace of leveling, it is ok now. I don't expect to max specialization today or in the next few days and neither should anyone else, it will take a week or more probably.
Yeah I didn't lose any xp or specialization with the nerf, but I didn't power grind to max everything immediately after DR launched either. Just casually leveled to 60 recently and the game is working fine for me. The new leveling pace is just fine, DR has a few other issues but nothing as major as what people make it seem to be, give it another try before giving up.
Alright dude you need to learn mmo's xp getting nerfed is fine at least it should be cause that's a common thing on an mmo oh yeah killing TRIBBLE that is hard for most of the players right now and getting well TRIBBLE for it yeah that's really not fair to them and as for the glitches that's called working as intended till the devs and gms find out about it then its an exploit
sorry about the last part I know it doesn't pertain to what you're saying but I know some one is going to comment about it or at least think about it
I don't care if it's fast, I want it to be fun. Not mindless grinding of patrols over and over again. Right now its not fun, which is why I'm not giving any money to cryptic via subscription, and not logging in to play.
I thought most people finally came to the conclusion to wait a few weeks before seriously playing the new content. Every single season has been like this. The game is unplayable for some players and major changes to the game will occur due to player feedback over the first few weeks of a new expansion or season.
Fleets have record numbers, all zones have more people than ever. -FACT
There is even a huge number of NEW players -FACT
People are happy with the new story line. -FACT
The new ground zone is the best in the game. -FACT
The T6 ships are equal to lock box ships, this means you don't need to pay out the nose for good ship. -FACT
Where are your proof, to backup your "FACT" ? Anyway, I have some proofs, albeit limited, and they say you are wrong. At least, I have something behind my arguments, which is a lot more than you do.
From 2010 until now DR was the best roll out ever .
People were able to logon and play.
The thing is they should not have changed the STFs.
just because you are able to log in and play dont mean anything because i would find it hard to believe cryptic upgraded it server capacity after 4 years
one could say with the fails that have been season 8 9 and 9.5 have drove off enough people is why you was able to log on
Actually I think the better analogy would be that the people who are complaining about running the same patrols over and over again to level are the same people who would be complaining there was nothing to do after blitzing to 60 in a couple days.
Yes, because grindy patrols with too little reward and overtuned mobs will really stop the complaints.
I always get a kick out of people like OP who thinks they can speak for everyone.
If it's fine for you dude don't you think it's NOT fine for others considering the sheer amount of complaints you see on the forum?
Ah! No, that's right, all of those people complaining are ALL wrong and you are the beholder of mighty truth because.. after all.. it's alllll fine like you say.
Next time, before posting complete trash like that, why don't you simple state your own opinion and leaves lots of room for people who will tell you the opposite? See I can accept it's fine for you, people will have different reaction to DR this will depend on their gear and game experience, but many people like me will NEVER repeat DR on ANY alt because IT'S NOT FINE. Far from fine, DR is a complete U-Turn compare to all other expansions, this is trash for me and many other people out there and it's is FAR from being fine.
Haven't seen my fleet complain either or my friends. Its just the complainers that are loudest.
The only problem I'm having with the leveling is that when I hit a gap I'm just not sure what to do with myself. In the past I would have set off for the exploration clusters, but they're gone now; that or played a lot of PvP (unfortunately, PvP just frustrates me these days).
I suppose I'm supposed to be doing queued events or something; but I don't like to grind away at those things. I only do one or two a day, if that.
Do some doffing or adventure zones or battlezones.
Yes, there are those threads, and they are just as much a waste of space as this one. But there are many more threads that give reasons why the thread creators dislike stuff, and don't try to force it upon everyone.
Its not a waste of space, people make it seem like the game is broken and scaring new players away.
The amount of Rage I see lately, would power the Red rings of rage in DC for EONS. Stop the rage, use the willpower!
Star Trek Battles member. Want to roll with a good group of people regardless of fleets and not have to worry about DPS while doing STFs? Come join the channel and join in the fun!
Leveling in DR is fine, if you intend to play one character forever. Especially in a pvp sense, a pvp ready char (for space) needs 60+35 to complete all space bonuses, forgoing demo team because even since tribble, its still broken.
The "original" exp value for elite made it so people actively wanted to team up, stomp patrols and levels. Over a shorter period of time this would result in more people leveling and upgrading and buying ships for more than 1 character. Cryptic really shot itself in the foot.
Now, the exp is tolerable if you are used to grindy games, going nuts I pulled 8 spec points solo yesterday out of the 34 I apparently "exploited". For casuals, this is an absolute riot. Casuals will probably not reach cap level (110) any time before the next season starts, and probably be a good way into said season before it actually happens. Assuming exp is kept as it is current.
Sad truth, because of this nerf, we've once again fallen into the "you get the best exp solo" trap. STO is and always will be the worlds first single player MMO.
To the OP, you need to look deep inside your self and your pocket book, can you afford to play DR. I don't have many issues with it, my biggest is the gap between missions and levels.
Exactly how will you fill our specialisations in a week?
I have calculated and at my current rate it will take 120hrs of play to get 60 levels to max out the three spec trees. I get to play about 10 hrs a week (and thats a lot)...
So yer, 3 months per toon = 2 and a half years for all my alts.

yes easily, haven't had to get a new t6 ship yet either, my old ships doing fine when upgraded which is cheap. As for the new DR episode missions I haven't done them yet, I was saving them for when I am bored, I just use an occasional patrol in between my daily routine of doffing, pvp, and pve to level.

You won't fill it in a week, and thats not a problem, its WAI.
My problem is I want to eventually level to 60 doing the content provided for us to GET to 60. That means DR content. It's not possible WITHOUT repeating missions or running numerous boring and tedious patrol missions.
There simply isn't enough DR content.
My personal experience was this...
Before I was even able to play, I was hearing all these "horror stories" about not being able to level with the DR content. So, I decided what I would do is go back and finish up all the old content I hadn't done before I had hit the old level cap. I started with "Rapier", in the Cardassian arc. By the time I finished with the last mission of the Breen arc, I was level 54. I had run 24 missions by that time along with hundreds of DOff missions and several queues. Maybe 120-150+ DOff missions since I have 23 DOff mission slots and would queue new ones up at least once daily over the first 10 days of DR being live.
Granted, all of this was solo on Normal as far as the missions go, queues were on Normal as well after failing a dozen or so Advanced and just giving up.
Now here I am, barely lvl 57 as of last night with only 3 more DR missions left to run. Not counting what may be left on Kobali Prime. I need 7+ bubs to get to 58 and after I run the missions I have now, Revolution, and whatever Kobali Prime throws my way, I'll be dang lucky to be 58 in order to get the next DR mission. Since I likely won't be 58, that means running old content for piddly rewards, running patrols that are boring as heck or just living with whatever XP I can eek out in the queues I run.
I want to simply run the lvl 50-60 content to get to 60. I expected it to take a while, but I was hoping it would be because there would be so much content to do, not because XP rewards were cut to a fraction of what they were pre-50.
With LoR, there was a TON of new content, Romulans got a story that could take them from lvl 1-40, easily. I'm pretty sure that most of my Romulan characters made it to at least lvl 45 before finishing the storyline. Maybe even lvl 50 for some.
Why couldn't DR have that level and amount of content? It's not like unique content was created for all 3 factions for leveling. Everyone runs the same 17 DR missions, not counting the Koballi Prime stuff. And 7 of those missions are essentially filler missions, the patrols.
Maybe it's just the disjointedness of leveling pre-50 and post-50. Pre-50, you more or less get a level for each mission until you hit the 40's or so, then it becomes 2 missions for a level. Now with DR, it takes a lot more missions to level, with my experience so far, an average of 6 missions per level. I will simply run out of content before I reach a level high enough to CONTINUE the existing content.
That's why I'm complaining. Not because the content is too hard, but because I can't actually do the content because there isn't enough XP to get me where the story is.
I suddenly just hit an invisible wall and have to say goodbye to the DQ until I do other things to get me enough XP so I can come back. To do one more mission before leaving again to get more XP again to get that one more level to do one more mission...
Ghaa!
I like the content well enough, just not the pacing of it, the XP curve being thrown out of whack, whatever it is.
I just want to run the content. If I could run all the DR content back to back with no level restrictions and then have to find other sources of XP to get to 60, I'd be fine with that. Breaking up the story though is just inane.
Okay, I actually do HATE the patrol missions being tied in with the storyline. I thought the reason they removed the Exploration clusters was to get rid of these types of missions. Apparently not.
Make a man a fire and keep him warm for the day.
Set a man on fire and keep him warm for the rest of his life.
All my alts are 54 and 55 and have not started Delta yet
Getting to level 60 in less than 3 weeks - the horror - the horror.
It is vitally important that we be able to get to lvl 60 with maxed out rep and spec points in a week so we can concentrate on more important things.... like ******** about how there is nothing left to do.
Yes I'm having no problems leveling either using nothing but Doff mission to slowly boringly grind up. Not sure what for, I won't be playing Delta Rising "missions" (read: exploration patrols) anyway.
Well, until His Grand High Imperial Holiness D'Angelo decides to summarily remove any levels gained through it on a whim.
personally i don't care about specilization traits or all the futile stuff. I just want to do the campaign without the need to spend 2 or 3 days of grinding xp. this is not immersive at all.

Personally I wouldn't have minded a little exp nerf but I think they went over the top.

Plus 2...well said and hope not late to go back to 10/22/2014
Do some doffing or adventure zones or battlezones.
...
I do those things. I'm always doffing, I regularly go to battlezones, and I'm still running through the DR story so I've been spending a lot of time in an adventure zone whether I wanted to or not. Still took me all weekend to get from lvl 56 to 57.
I didn't particularly mind on that occasion, since it was a dilithium weekend I wasn't really focused on exp grinding; but if it had been a regular weekend it might have got on my nerves, and the gaps just keep getting bigger as I get closer to 60.
Well, I only have to put up with it for another 3 levels I suppose. The specialization stuff can just come in its own time.

The only problem I see is people wanting instant everything.
Really the most all the negative feedback can do is discourage a new player.
But the reason your so negative is to get something changed.
Why do you want something change so you can play the game more the way you want.
So you want discourage new players so you can play the game the way you want.
Why because if you don't get your way you don't want anyone else to play.
The Borg Collective just facepalmed, because trillions of drones across thousands of worlds cannot express how much of an utter failure this post is.

And you are right, really makes it hard to con potential newcomers into paying for this.
