    Obviously you havent.

And that is fine, I clearly indicated that my goals have nothing to do with the level of content I can achieve with gear like this, I am well past that level now, but only on a single ship with a single option for weapon loadouts.
    .

12k zen i grinded from dill once there released the launch date. if u mean the fleet upgraded stuff show ur gateway with it showing the right mk

Pulserazor, you say you can no long afford to play. Does this mean you are going to quit?

Based on how you have been responding to people in this thread, I hope so.

    Rude... just sayin.
It's not my fault if you feel trolled by my Disco ball... Sorry'boutit.

So far I have spent $0.0 on upgrades for equipment.

I did buy 1 ship upgrade token and had 3 for free.

My equipment is now level 14 except for some things like warp cores I don't see the need to upgrade.

I'm about tapped on VR materials so if I want to spin the wheel for all UR it will start eating into my EC reserves but still $0.0 cash. Half is UR already from fleet.

I suggest not worrying so much about the UR and gold. Take it slow and have fun. I'm sure you will have the UR at least by the end of the year spending no money, especially with the dilithium weekend.

Considering i said i had GOOD equiptment and never mentioned epic. My phantom is good with the gear ive upgraded to date. Ill continue to upgrade when i have the resources. I haven't used my RL money on this game in a year....and no im not going to show you my bank records.

It was a nice attempt at trolling but im really not interested.

    http://gateway.startrekonline.com/#char(Christian@christianmac)/ship-equipment have fun.

I can get good gear. I have good gear. Good isnt good enough. I had good gear before DR. If they had a good que I could play that, but I couldnt play the great que, and I certainly cant play the awesome que. Awesome gear requires awesome materials, and awesome marterials are only dropping in awesome ques, where you need awesome gear to complete the objectives.

And frankly the fact that u feel that you need to have epic gear to be good in this game is utterly laughable. Or maybe the fact that you feel that you need to spend 100 to 200 on this game (OMFG) to be competitive. I play sto for fun.....I run a fleet of 410 members and play STFs with my friends...ive beaten the advanced queues and have made a conscious decision to not do elites until im feel im ready. There is no reason to rush in this game. There is certainly no need for me to spend 200 a month on a game when i can use that by spending it on my kids or my wife. I started DR with enough Zen for 2 tier 6 ships and that's through saving my stipends. while yes i will concede that the gear upgrades are a dilithium sink but i don't bother upgrading anything if i cant afford it. My ENG is using MK 12 TOS phasers and is doing just fine

And to prevent you from trying to call me a liar: http://gateway.startrekonline.com/#char(Ariel@christianmac)/ship-equipment

My suggestion...put the wallet away and try to have fun. cause the only thing you get by forcing a Pay to win option for yourself is an empty wallet.

just edited my post, check the links.

I appreciate that, but again: That is not the gear I am looking for. That kind of gear progression is within my reach, I wouldnt even need to invest a dime in the game to get there, on a single character with one ship, that is.

100% agree. I have spent only 20€ on this game, i have mk XIII fleet gear and i can still complete almost everything.

You know how ive beaten the "awesome queues" is by teaming up with friends in game who practice teamwork and team balancing....i know its hard to get past your DPS mind block but you might try it...you never know...u might like it.

    And I have 12 toons....

But... fun to me is having the ability to switch to a different ship or a different character and play a totally different way. If I swap out of my Vesta into a Jem Hadar Attack Ship, I dont want to use the same gear. I could do that gbefore, now I will never ever be able to.

I think your operational definition of good and my own are a bit different.

Prior to 9.5/DR, it was kind of grindy, sure, but it wasn't that bad. I was willing to (and did) spend money on the occasional ship, etc.
Now? The grind has ballooned. With so much pressure to either spend massive amounts of time grinding, and/or large sums of money to help speed through, I find myself just choosing option C: uninstall and write it off. It's just too much for me.

If you feel that you have to spend that kind of money on a GAME to have fun you are doing it wrong. I know that i will have epic gear.....it wont be tommarow and i might not get it for a while but im ok with that cause I PLAY the GAME with friends that are just like me. To me this is great....i was getting tired of finishing Infected in 4 min and out DPSing PUGs.....now i have something to work for and to me that's awesome.

Lets see your video or your twitch feed then. Im not callingyou a liar, but it is easy to claim something. I coudl claim the same things.

Ans I am the last person on sto who sould have a dps mentality. I mostly enjoy debuff sci that concentrates her efforts on increasing gthr rest of the teams ability to complete objectives. I played the faw scimitar for about a week after I bought it and tired of it that fast

Okay let's see what I can say to help. First, I understand your issues. I too put in $40-100 a month into STO not counting Christmas bonus and tax return as well as a life sub. So let's look into things. 1000 zen nets all of 150000ish dil. A decent chunk for upgrading your gear or your fleet. Answer this, are other members contributing to the dilithium needs of the fleet? Are they setting the requirements of what should be built and when?
If the first answer is no and especially if the second answer is yes. Stop feeding your fleet for a little while. They will get the hint about your strain and maybe do a little dil work themselves.
Next up, with the level of cash moved you can get keys and convert that to EC for most mats you need to make your upgrades.

Let me ask this. How often do you play your alts?

Someone has to spend money on it, or it simply wouldt be operational.

Speaking as a person who has invested in this game, to play it how I want to at the pace I want to play it, I simply can not afford to do it anymore.

Our fleet actually took the step of informally suspending our projects so that people would not feel guilty about spending dilithium on themselves when it is so needed. It was always on a "pay what you want" system anyway, but leadership made it clear that they understood the dilithium pinch the members are going through right now.

True, casual fleets don't have as many shinies as bigger ones...but this proves to me what a nice experience a more casual fleet can be.

I used to play them everyday, but I am concentrating my efforts on a single character now which is fine for me. I am only logging into the alts to use the mining claims, generating about 40k dilithium per day, which might sounds like a lot but it isnt enough

A lot of fleet talk and frined talk here, idk maybe that is the problem.

I have been in a few fleets and am in a couple now full of friendly people. I dont want to abandon them but the truth is, I am not getting much out of being with them, all they do is complain about the game, none of them seem to be able to do advanced content much less elite.

Do you really think that if I got in a fleet of people serious about gear progression and social enough to use teamspeak that I would find the game within my budget?

I know, I use the mining claims between paydays.

What I am getting at is if you just log them in mine then switch to one main you can get them running the xp reward in R&D. Once at level you assign them to make the various upgrade techs you will need and let the timers run. If doing this for a week you should be swimming in upgrades by the time of your next cash infusion. (Which can be scaled back. There is no need to feel guilty on that.) With a stack of upgrades and some fresh dil, you can pick the char you next want to see upgraded. And pat yourself on the back for each char and ship you get there. It can be done.

Honestly if they told me I had to upgrade 18+ characters at the same time I would tell them I already have a full time job, thanks.

That depends on your goals. I am in a couple small fleets. Building them up is my reward. As is the nice people I play alongside.

If gear and elite play are your goals, then yeah. You find a big finished fleet and go with them. If you have been building your current fleets for a while then you should have a good amount of fleet credits on hand to buy what a finished fleet has to offer. Your money would also be free to spend exclusively on yourself.

I am not admonishing you for spending money that is ur choice. Im admonishing you for feeling that this game isn't worth playing unless you pump 200 bucks a month into it. Pay to win is not needed IMO. I got 4 MK 14 TAC consoles on my phantom by grinding dilithium sure it was a lot of dilithium but i new from tribble that it was going to be expensive....so i didn't spend dilithium since so when DR came out i had quite a surplus.

the term i believe it is called is, "defiled".

    story and episode fun, 10

new advanced ques, seem to be the only one trying to play it the way is should be played now with DR, no wins. hours cool downs, and for fun it gets a 2

the Crafting system, for what can be done with it, awesome, a 10!

the fees? predatory, and sick in the head.

still, there is some fun stuff in STO, but there are some EPIC design issues they need to rail down on.

the way the total game plays since DR is far from refined.

hope they realize balance real soon.

    with that said.

good luck all, hope the "old school elites" cue more often, and for the crafting, hope you ether don't get bored to death by timers, or that enjoy giving another person your money

Unnecessary. It's totally possible to grind dilithium on multiple characters, convert that dili into Zen, buy T5 ships and then buy T5-U upgrades for those ships.

You can buy all ship equipment (including Mk IVX) with dilithium, which is free. You can earn 8500 refined dili each day, a cap which you can't significantly increase by spending money.

So, while you can spend money to speed up your access to new ships, it's all totally achievable for free.

of the toons I am concentrating on, One flys a Odyssey I bought several years ago, two fly the new qib. not huge expenditures. I also fly Jemnaughts, Recluse, Orb Weaver, Mobeius and T_S Adapted BC. bought with EC. on two toons I have crafting up to level 12. I crafted out the consoles, cannons turrets and beams I need. at MK VIII. I've upgraded many up to purple MK XII, and a few UR. did not spend a dime. I bought the regular upgrades from the vendor at 10K each, and pumped a crapload of Dilithium into them. again, not bought, but earned in game.

bottom line: I have 9 toons, only one needs a ship. total expenditure this year has been around $150. thats THIS YEAR, or about $15 bucks a month. I spend more than that on Pizza.

Where do you even get Dilithium anymore? STFs don't give a lot anymore and the advanced modes are hardly played and have a long CD. Maybe battle zones? But even then you have to play for hours just to get the 8500 unrefined it seems.

It is pretty obvious, that they are trying to increase the incentive to BUY dilithium with Zen more and more. The don't have to do anything for that. They don't need to make a new ship or design a new item, it is easy money just forcing people to buy dilithium for the crafting stuff and so on.

And when people say like "well, you can just refine dilithium with four characters!"...like how long do you have to play each day to get 8,5k or more dilithium with 4 characters?

Unlock a few boxes and you can get mining claims for Vulgata. Those can net 4600-5000 if you do well in the mining minigame. (recommend turning down your graphics first as lag can kill you there.)
