If you ask me, I think the whole idea of ships having silly numbers of hit points making normal queues unbeatable by good teams is just silly. Like, really, there are 3 different difficulty levels. Wouldn't it make sense that "normal" would be a piece of cake with 99% chance of winning epically? That "elite" would be the opposite? And of course, that "advanced" would be half way in the middle?

Seriously, I haven't even played DR yet, and I already think something's got to change FAST. And that's definitely not my norm... by norm, I often jump right into the next season/expansion and find (most of) it fun with few complaints. :D

Flying my way into the Tribble test of DR in an upgraded Fleet Avenger (which could solo Tac cubes pre-DR) and going to see how things look.

BTW, Tribble is open to silvers now. Haven't seen anything saying so, but I have gotten in with no problems. :D

Edit: Probes die fine in Kerrat at level 54. Is this hp silliness only at level 60?

    Winning.
It's what I do. It's what I just did. It's what I'm about to do again. It's being undisputed emperor of an empire that cannot be disproved as the most powerful intergalactic empire in the entire universe; I always win, and everything I've won will definitely be won again... by me. It's my signature move, and thus, it's my signature. Problem, Sonic? Yeah, I mean you, Sonic, because you're being beat up, despite your being super. You can't even hit Shadow back, can you? Nope, he's too strong for you. Of course, I'm not Shadow, I'm the Super Emerald fueled fox that's pulling the strings; trust me, the fight would only be a few frames long if I were in it personally. Oh, and here's something for all you guys thinking you can win Last Post Wins 3.0; trust me, I'll be around a long while after the sun has already consumed the Earth while I sit out with the forum servers on Titan. Yes, I mean Titan... that comparatively little moon orbiting Saturn. It's a nice little place in a version of our solar system where the sun is a lot bigger. I mean, Mars will last longer than your precious Earth, but by then, it'll be one hot planet... and I figure Saturn's moon will be about the right temperate for a super-powered warlord. Oh, and trust me, I packed a lot of rings, and I mean a lot. Trillions, in fact, so I'll never run out of rings to power my super form. Besides, if I start to run out, I can just chaos control more rings into my reach. It's quite easy, really. You should try it. Granted, you'll never have the 7 Super Emeralds that I have in my possession, nor the Master Emerald that I've got hidden away somewhere... absorbed into my body thanks to Sonic logic, but whatever. I win. Again. I'm not kidding, either. Just check Last Post Wins, and if the last post isn't mine, it soon will be. Very, very soon. You can count on it. Seriously. By the way, if you're wondering, there's a really great Super Tails sprite sheet out there... somewhere... by some guy named shadow_91. These sprites are really great. Like, really good. Quality. Just like what I like to see in a sprite sheet. Also, credit to Joe T.E., his Sonic Battle style Super Sonic sprites have a great palette for a Super Sonic being beat up by Super Shadow, who's palette is from a Super Shadow sheet of unknown origin, but it turns out they were "borrowed" from a better sheet made by a certain Domenico. Oh, and the gif is actually a custom made super version of a similar gif, of which there are only 3 or 4 copies to be found by Google, and even then, evidently of an unknown source. Yep, it's one of those things. Stuff people have made, spread around, only for it to vanish and you to be the only person who still has a copy, not even knowing where it came from... like, literally at all. Oh, and anyone notice that Shadow's little chaos snap blast thingies are red and blue now? Yeah, I changed it. Problem, fans of purple? Yeah, I know you got a problem with that one, but you can just deal with it. After all, according to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a bee should be able to fly... alright, alright, I'll spare you the entire Bee Movie script, just Google it if you want. By the way, ever wonder how your characters would've ended up if they evolved in another universe? Yeah, that. Think about it. Ok, so you probably didn't bother reading up to here, but whatever, here's a surprise for you guys over at ESD (RP) who were crazy enough to read this: Emperor Nat of the mcfreakin' Terran Empire is gonna be right all along! The universe is gonna go BOOM! *Thumbs up to the insanity*
Oh, now don't tell me you want in on all this! Well, ok. Look this that Egg Pawn hanging outside your window, pointing his laser rifle at you, waiting for my next order. He's doing his part. He helps conquer the weak-minded. He roboticizes the weak-bodied. Heck, he even helps keep the useless people from causing any trouble, but you know what? Join. Find the closest Nataran Empire roboticization center near you and join the ranks, before the ranks find you. Oh, I know, you figure it must be so satisfying to know I basically rule the world now, and you know what? It is, but do you want to know the true definition of satisfaction? Well, let me tell you a little story. One day, you see a brand new event. They're giving out boxes that give old event stuff. Your dilithium is plentiful. You buy a whole lot of Phoenix packs on your main, and open them all. You get one epic token. Then, you decide, that since you have all the Breen ships and don't give a damn about the others, you exchange it for an ultra rare, and grab yourself a Jem'Hadar Attack Ship and for the hell of it, a Voth Bulwark. You open both, leaving the Bulwark in your vast masses of starships as you jump into the bugship and deck it out, deck by deck, into the most awesome Jem'Hadar ship you can. You fly it. You enjoy it. Eventually, you get bored and leave, leaving the old Bulwark never flown... until later. Your main is long complete. Your new alt main, based off some character you pulled out of nothing just to explain away some starship being in service without the command of your dear admiral, is also complete. Mostly. Their reps and doffs are hard at work, getting you stuff. You realize the potential, and head back for your dear admiral, pull the most Voth themed build you can out of thin air, and suit up in your giant ship in the shape of you know what. You head out... and cause all sorts of havoc. Enemies scream out your name as their very life is drained away by your swarms of Aceton Assimilators. They complain to the devs of your OPness when you revive yourself from death every time you die. Do you show any form of mercy? No. After all, this isn't the United Federation of Planets, this is mother frakkin' Starfleet, where you explore strange new worlds and kick butt never kicked before. Oh, and you realize that I just wrote another speech rivaling your own signature. Cool. Oh, wait, that's just the original draft, it is part of my signature now. Oh, and yes, I am aware that I have become a Canadian Regent; one day, sooner than you'd expect, we'll suddenly decide to take over the world and declare an "alliance", and I shall become it's Regent. You know, like the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance in the mirror universe of our beloved Star Trek. Oh, who'll we be taking over with? I dunno, maybe [REDACTED], or maybe aliens from outer space. Guess you'll have to wait and find out, won't we? Until then, don't ask too many questions, or else my Breen allies on Titania might pick up on your -- [REDACTED BY BREEN CONFEDERACY FOR REASONS] Also, psst... keep an eye out for flying Tribbles! Also walls. Big, great walls, separating entire continents apart. Walls patrolled by Tribbles. Flying Tribbles. Flying Nukara Tribbles. Don't worry, it's not like they were on Venus with a herd of Tholians or anything, they just like the extreme heat and brutal weather like acid rain and hurricane force winds as the norm. Oh, and definitely keep your eye out on any two-tailed foxes, because if they ain't glowing, they're definitely an imposter. Possibly an Undine, we caught one of those once in my place once. Oh, and if you find a two-tailed fox that doesn't like the cold... most certainly ask him to say sorry. If he refuses, DESTROY HIM WITH A DOOMSDAY MACHINE, BECAUSE THERE'S NOTHING ELSE THAT WOULD BE ENOUGH AGAINST SUCH AN OVERPOWERED IMPOSTER!

tr;dr, I am winning last post wins 3.0. Thank you for your time.
    Oh, look, an explosion...

    Well that was ... expected ... :(

Of course it was always out of reach.

This entire exercise in 5 million HP BoPs was to cut the Dil in half.

They gave us that to ***** about so we would thank them for reducing the HP while keeping the 50% Dil nerf in place

This is exactly correct, and has been done by Cryptic before.

By the time their done 'tuning' the HP problem, people will be so happy they can STF again that most will simply go back to the herd mentality and let the dilithium reductions go.

STO is gated in so many ways. I can't even imagine how a brand new player must see this game. The amount of grinding as a new character must seem to be out of control. Omega, Romulan, Nukara, Dyson, 8472 and now Delta Alliance reputation grinds just for basic gear. Then they gated the crafting system EVEN MORE with these new reward systems after we had already looked forward to a year grind just to complete a single part of it.

And people will just suck it up and let it go instead of putting their foot down.
Shouldn't you be on Normal running your face left and right on the keyboard to success?

Elites are for those who really want a challenge they can measure their e-peens against. Normal and advanced shouldn't be nearly impossible to complete.

Most of the people complaining about difficulty were in this category. Not your average or casual player.

Normal queues weren't unbeatable by good teams, not in the slightest.

I don't mind the HP nerf so much, but is there any chance of the NPCs getting a damage/powers buff? No matter what size of HP brick I've been chewing my way slowly through on Advanced I've never felt like I'm under serious threat.

The way the optionals have been changed imo is, just fine as it adds some actual challenge and, not the so called challenge of, extreme hp values wrapped in the same candy colored shell.

Noobs doing 5k shouldn't matter a ton, so long as they have a grasp as to what actually needs done and, not wandering around pointlessly doing nothing.

Hence the reason the optional failing requirement.

5k used to be roughly 20% over the margin needed, compared to the minimum 3k required for old elites.

Now that same 5k is, only roughly 25% of the required for new advanced.

I don't know about you but, that is a huge leap in required dps #'s for, something that is supposed to be mid-par difficulty.

Because most around here would rather have a steaming pile of TRIBBLE to throw their money at than nothing. Whetyher it's games, conventions, merchandise, or even DVD/Blu-Ray sales. If no one watched Trek and attended conventions until they had a new show that was high quality, then we would probably have 10 captains from 10 different series by now and as a result, more decent merchandise to buy. Even with this game, people will continue to play, open hundreds of lockboxes each and buy up every item and service PWE offers at the most obserd prices even when the stuff is broken, of poor quality, or bugged. Of course nothing is going to change as long as people continue to do this.

Fresh 50's don't need Omega gear, there is plenty of other good gear that is not gated by Advanced/Elite queues.

Level to 60, get some Ship Masteries and Specialization Skill Points, buy fleet/New Romulus/Nukara Strikeforce equipment/weapons, upgrade ship weapons and equipment, do advanced queues. There are also plenty of replayable missions that give some pretty good gear as well.

I think thje real issue here is that a lot of people are suffering from Veruca Salt syndrome.

Its a pretty sad commentary on our society when having shinnies as fast as possible is what everything is about. No one cares about the journey anymore.

Ummm, maybe you haven't been keeping up on current events, pal, but Omega IS level 50 content. Just because they raised the level cap don't mean jack squat if they(cryptic)don't lock players out of the content until X level is reached. So you go tell Cryptic to make ALL advance/elite content accessible only at 60 since that is what your implying.

    Cryptic/PWE,

You are missing the point entirely!

    1) You have made the game mechanics to where, IMO, a player has to have a PhD from MIT to play the FRAKING GAME at the INSANE level you have setup!

    2) Is this the player base you want?

    3) How many of the casual players have the time or money to invest into an online game to achieve this level of "UBER" proficiency?

    4) Have you actually played your own game without your "GOD" mode turned on?

    5) Have you actually played your own game as a casual player?

    6) The MAJORITY of your player base does not play STO to be able to beat on their chests that "I am the best, have the most DPS, and can breeze through anything you create"!

    7) The MAJORITY of your player base does not have UNLIMITED time to do all of the things, you NOW REQUIRE, to achieve the level needed to advance!

    8) Just reducing the Normal and Advanced by 20% and 30% and not restoring the rewards is a very sad response to the MASSIVE amount of feedback from the MAJORITY of your player base!

    9) INCREASING Elite to 110% is, IMHO, totally INSANE!

    10) How do you expect the MAJORITY of your player base to get the items needed to build these "UBER" ships and characters if you designed it so only the "UBER" players can win to get the rewards?

    11) What amount of feedback or statistics do you have to see from the servers and the forums to grasp what the MAJORITY of your player base is telling you?

I think this sums it all up...

We are now in a Paradox created by Cryptic/PWE...

"You cannot win because you cannot get the rewards

    and

You cannot get the rewards because you cannot win."

Maybe it's time for Cryptic/PWE to re-evaluate the direction the game is headed towards!

From my point of view, It does not look good as this expansion is starting to become the worst thing that has ever happened to STO!

Cryptic/PWE... Stop this maddening rush of yours towards the INSANE

The people that need to be fired are the people in charge who do the firing. It won't happen. This is not a developer issue, it's a managerial issue. It's been too long now that they've been trying to squeeze the most profit out of the least amount of work possible. Yeah every company wants to do that but it's affecting the quality of the game and the enjoyment of the players. Management should be aware of that if they were focused on anything but financial statistics on a spreadsheet, which tells me they're lousy managers.

Did I read it wrong? I could have sworn it said Normal was being reduced to 80% of what it was (a 20% reduction), Advanced was being reduced to 70% of what it was (a 30% reduction) and Elite was being increased to 110% of what it was (a 10% increase).

In fact, I said being reduced BY 70% instead of TO 70% stood a good chance of actually being an effective change whereas a mere 20 or 30% reduction of something that is probably 10x what it should be is just a drop in the bucket.

he is wrong and you recall right, its to not by

with a 70% reduction we actually would be way closer to previous elite values, still ~6,5 million is still more then it had before.
