Hello fellow Mac users, let me see if I can help. I had the crashing issue with the new ESB so try logging once you hit charter selection on the bottom right go to options select the graphics tab and change the GPU setting (top left slider) to minimum and maybe the CPU one and see if that helps.
The STO Mac app is not a native Mac application it uses an emulator (a program to simulate another OS environment) so the app can't use the computer full power. I have an 2012 27" iMac base model and the GPU was my issue and still is for havey ground combat. For my iMac I have the CPU max setting and the GPU on two full bars.
I hope this helps :-)
I gave this a try and I got through a mission without a crash...but then it crashed while I was trying to type something in here. So I'll try it again with everything closed and see what happens. But this seems to be a start at least.
Please review my first Foundry Mission. Attention to orders.
Mission Code: ST-HF7GJONHM - Update! This mission has graduated and can now be found in Browse All! Thank you everyone for your reviews.

So, could this problem be a virtual memory problem? Is there a setting somewhere in a preference file we could change?
I actually had a thought similar to this... wouldn't surprise me if it were something like this. I don't know much about coding, or VMs, but this makes sense to me.
As to the second part, though... don't know. Would be nice if we could manually allocate more resources to the game ourselves. I think I have enough RAM to spare!

I would love to, too. It might resolve our problems too for the crash to desktop issue.
I almost thought they had stealth fixed the bug...I was able to play for an hour...hit lvl 51 on a few of my characters and complete some missions. I get ready to log out and it freezes up and crashes to desktop.
Your pain runs deep.

You aren't missing anything other than headaches, frustration, disappointment, and a TRIBBLE ton of bugs that should have been fixed weeks before launch.

Yeah, I was actually able to get in a quick replay of "Diplomatic Orders" this morning, and I think I have/had the loadout issue return (all my hot-bar buttons got messed up on a map transition).

Vuryn also cant get on!
Sphynx is on holiday, but when he comes back, is also on a mac so will be STOless
that is half the command structure. Oh boy...
This is a small bit of promising news!
Just claimed level 15 in Beams, started my final project to get Tier 5 in 8472, and got a Borg Antiproton weapon for my loot-poor Klingon gang, and...
Wait, you didn't think I could do more than that, did you?! CRASH. :P
vmmap needs to take control of another process for debugging to continue. Type your password to allow this.
It then wanted me to put my username and password.
As soon as I did that, the game crashed out, and the cryptic error tracker popped up briefly before disappearing again.

20-30 minutes later, too, at most? CRASH.
