Solution: Go to Tau Dewa system. Set your difficulty to Elite. Power grind.

Give me one good reason why I should do that.
Why should I be forced to go somewhere else, ramp up the difficulty and do something I have no interest in doing?

I dont have a ship that can put out 50k DPS, have 100k hull and shield and can survive an encounter with 5+ ships that has 350k and up of hull plus shields.

Its like watching a movie on TV, you get to watch 10-15 minutes, and then you get 30 minutes of commercials, before you can see the next 10-15 minutes.

Being a lifetime subscriber, I have never once purchased a single Zen.
Recently I almost did buy Zen so I could buy me some XP boosters, I got so far as to the checkout before I stopped myself.
I would frankly not be surprised if this is intended, to make people buy more ZEN, because in the end all that matters is their bottom line.

I said this a few days ago. They drove up the HP to increase sales of things like Research Boxes, XP Boosts and anything that will make Endgame/Endgame Leveling easier on those playing the new content.

Nothing in DR feels like they stepped things up a notch. It feels constrictive and consistently irritating. As if theyve been slowly turning up the heat on us sitting in an interrogation room. They want us to slowly break and pull out our wallets.

Well, after seeing this thread and a few others like it the temptation to buy Zen is now completely evaporated, and I'm glad I didnt buy any either.

The way things are now I log on, do a PVE queue or two and then logout from sheer boredom.
I dont mind the grind for rep, dil and gear, been doing that for awhile.
But I do not tolerate the way the story missions has been done here, which reeks of money grabbing.

Once you get to 60, that shouldn't take more than a few hours, you'll realize there is nothing to do.

Play super HP queues for 490 dil? Yeah right sure

I loved playing ground for 2 years and I can honestly say now with forced failures, that I've played my last ground.

I am not being dramatic or trying to escalate the situation but letting the maps fail, beyond what I am able to control, ruins the gameplay entirely.

So I have more or less gone away from queues and stor missions are even worse.

However since I have been keeping up to date on the expansion every since the LV stream I was already mentally prepared to go into 100% doffing-exchange-zen stock market.

So I am still able to laugh at them even though it's tragic

Yeah, the expansion isn't stellar, that is for sure. Cryptic made some big mistakes in terms of game mechanics.

New level cap: Actually it isn't really a new level cap, you just get specialization points and maybe a slight stat change here or there

New difficulties: Would have been a nice idea, but is badly executed, now one of the three STFs is gone and of the other two only one is played in advanced mode at all. I also have no idea how new players are supposed to get their omega gear if they have to do advanced mode for it. It is like you have to dive for 30 minutes to get to your respirator. The order is wrong.

Item upgrading: Again something, that sounds neat at first, but is really, really stupid in the long run. Sure, now don't have to equip your ship completely new, instead you upgrade your items step by step. The HUGE problem with that is, that it increases the enormous cost of changing your gear so much, that players will stick to what they have forever.

Just think of how much time and money you would have to invest, to change your weapon setup. Just imagine you want to switch from an cannon escort build to an A2B cruiser build, changing your energy weapons type in the process. Now before that would have cost you tons of fleet credits and dilithium. So it was already a hard thing to do to change ship, even if you kept most of the other gear and only got new weapons and new tac consoles.

NOW you also have to upgrade EVERY item, meaning that it about doubles the dilithium costs OR it will take you weeks AND it will cost millions of ECs. So now players will stick to whatever they have and will hardly ever change.

And that is bad for everyone: It is bad for the players because they can't fresh up their game by changing their build or ship AND it will hurt Cryptic, because a lot of players won't buy new ships, because now it will take them months just to get back up where they were.

The only way to remedy this is to reduce the upgrade costs and times massively. If you already get so far to get an rep item for example it shouldn't take you days and cost like millions of EC to get it at least on Mk XIV in the same quality.

The new "story line": This is also rather pathetic. A couple of patrols is all we get it seems and then you have to grind those or STFs just to advance the level? Are we back in 2010 or something?

Except DR is terrible and it is accurate to call it the worst. Ok, maybe not the worst ever ... but it is among the worst. 1 space STF ... handful of grindy missions ... incredibly boring spam fest trying to take down millions of HP. Has to be the laziest and most cynical attempt by a dev to increase difficulty and raise cash.

Yeah, i have to agree.. sitting there killing millions of shield and hull hps on an NPC (elite) is very stupid on the part of the devs. Lets take something that people already hate... grinding, and make it 10 times worse. Furthermore.. that is all the intelligent people at cryptic can do is throw more hull and shield hps at an NPC and think that it can replace PvP. You are still fighting mindless AIs and they are still terribly predictable.

Why don't you just put out trash and hope people buy it, cryptic. I can't even stand doing this pve grind for more than 1 hour before I have to just log out from utter boredom and frustration. You guys think this is fun? It isn't!

I most admit that having to do a story mission then do a pve missions is ruining the story for me.
The story was the one thing i was looking forward to with DR. i know if u made a new char you could lvl to 60 by just doing the story missions and doffing. But most of sto players are allready lvl 50 and must find other things to do. I had all ready maxed out the old reps and dont need to do there rep pve missions with there massive HP boosts. All i do is cash in there marks and the min i have is rom 624 the max is omega 14.164 and thats just on one char never mind the other 4.

I wish the dev would get Q to dish out his skill point boost but the dev wont as they need to see how long it takes us to lvl with no help so they can ajust the skill point rewards. Holodeck is now the dev test server not tribble. look at all the new, bugs missions crashing, roms cant re-train there boff skills/powers, captain skills cant be respeced.

The devs made a big mess of there expansion theres loads more i could go on but we the players all know the problems but the devs dont read the feed back and just do what geko/pwe wonts.

Whats the bet that the next dev interview the person doing the interview will say nothing but good things about the DR expansion n ignore everything players are upset with.

Hell, before South Korean shenanigans murdered it, City of Heroes was happily making piles of money compared to the actual size of its user base entirely because it cheerfully pandered to the crippling altitis of many MMO players. When you can easily change things up all the time you end up buying that damned Atrox on a whim because I TOTALLY HAVE A NEW IDEA IT'LL BE AWESOME.

Whereas, like you said, making it so difficult to change means players will just sit on what they have. Doing something new would result in a crushing investment of time just to be able to hang out in the endgame again, so I'm not doing it.

    1. I can not level up to 60, just by following the storyline, i need to do pve queues to continue with the storyline.

    2. Bugs like the bride on Kobali prime.

    3. The Video sequence in "Borg Disconnected" is pointless and very annoying

    4. Did they run out of time to create proper content or why do we have to do so many patrol missions?

    5. The last part of "The Last Stand" (set charges at the chemicals) is impossible to do alone, because the Vaadwaur respawn to quick.

There is more but just these are enough to be to frustrated to continue.

    My thoughts on this.

1> People complained that they leveled too fast, they solved that. Be careful what you ask for!!

    2> IDK

3> Filler, like the shuttle ride in "The Motion Picture."

4> To help you level, since the story will no longer do this, plus it gives you marks for the new personal Tier.

5> Bring big guns! I use the full Dyson set upgraded to XIII, as well as an upgraded Pulsewave. I made good use of the environment to dodge their attacks and then jumped in the middle of them letting loose with my best attacks.

Enjoy what you can, I'm sad to see the Foundry taken down.

Here's the thing though: Most people aren't complaining that they aren't levelling fast enough. They're complaining about the fact that you have to leave the episode arc to level.

Add more content into each episode that we can level up with. It's still going to to take longer than normal to get to 60, but at least you're immersed in the story and not shocked out of it by 'to be continued....once you grind XP or pay for a boost'.

    Cheers!

Have you even played the game after the DR release?
If you have I would like to know how you managed to get to 60 in a few hours.
If you do the story missions on default difficulty, you get enough to maybe fill 1/4 of the XP bar to the next lvl.
Taken me the last 5 days just to get to 55.

OK! After a couple of more days in DR. I am still not impressed. I have played some story content. I will admit I still mostly enjoy STFs. But not now! Where did the elite level go? With that said Advanced is still impossible to play! Where is the balance?A great lesson to other MMOs on how not to do an expansion!!

    Sure.

People have been using mainly japori in the romulan sector for leveling teams.

More or less the same speed as mirror event used to be before they deleted it.

Just go over there and check zone chat, type something like "fed lfg japori" and someone will send you an invite.

You go in a full team and you match the lowest person's level because more players is more ships and the lower level you match the easier it is.

Finally those maps also drop superior tech so yeah sorry to say but anyone not doing that is royally wasting his or her time...

And help for all of you, you make it in there and get to 60 before a developer one day might actually read the forums

    /edit

ps. this is obviously playing on elite and the lowest level person will be leader and rest will match said person but all has to set their game on elite

And you have just proven the point as to why people complain.
They dont want to do this, they want to level up while following the story arc.
Not everyone is interested in going in a team doing elites, allot of people prefer to just play the story arc solo, so why should they not be allowed to do so?
Why should they be forced to do something they dont want to, just to be allowed to play the story?

A good analogy here is TV.
You sit down to watch a good movie on TV, after 15 minutes the movie is cut off and you get 15 minutes of commercials.
Its the same thing, there is a forced break in the story, where you have no choice but to either watch the commercials or do something else, before you are allowed to see the next 15 minutes.

As to what is a waste of time, that is a matter of opinion
Besides if people want to waste their time, its their time to waste.

They can't possibly have one or we should have been hearing about new positions open at Cryptic years ago lol.

The update is as TRIBBLE as the company. I have left this game so many times but keep coming back because its Trek, but with every update they manage to get rid of me again. (Eventually with diminishing returns to the point where the game will be uninstalled permanently)
