Account verfication?

I had to wipe my computer and now that I've gotten star trek loaded back in, it is stating that an email has been sent to the email associated with my account. Well, truth be told, no it has not. So, how do I go about getting this code to access my stuff, and more importantly, why do I even need to do this? I never did before.

    Why do you need to do it???

    well it's for account security protocols... you don't want unauthorized IP addresses accessing you account do ya???
