NO.

1 ARMADA3 for SINS OF A SOLAR EMPIRE
2 BIRTH OF THE FEDERATION (1998) (yes, its better)
3 ELITE FORCE 2
4 ARMADA2 FLEET OPERATIONS / bc
5 all leisure suit larry games / SFC's
6 STAR TREK ONLINE.
why?

boaring ground play and fed ship models. it makes me boar.

how fix?

ground mode- one click= one bullet. make shooter mode a shooter mode instead of a gimmick. it would be super easy to make shooter mode an fps - just adjust the guns. auto-aim is for loosers.

I don't think you know how game engines work. From a programming point of view, this is not easy at all. If the engine wasn't designed for that kind of play, it's not easy to change it.

i dunno- i think most of the work is done. all you have to do is tweak the guns. shooter mode is already setup.

lets be proactive- what needs to change to make it happen?

the guns need 1 trigger 1 bullet.

    what else?

As much as I love Mass Effect, I'd hardly call it related to Star Trek in any way, shape, or form. Why is it on that list?

What is the fascination with FPS? If you want a FPS go play call of duty! I happen to like the ground setup (i wish there were more skills and that tacs didn't just dropkick everything into oblivion but I digress).

I would strongly disagree with your best list. Star Trek is more than shooters and RTS games, though they also deserve a place.

    A final Unity

    25th anniversary

    Judgement rites

    Klingon Academy

    Birth of the Federation

    Klingon Honour Guard

    Elite Force

    Bridge Commander

    Starfleet Command

    Armada

A bunch of those games in their console incarnation (eg. the NES and SNES)

    Star Trek Online

    Starfleet Academy

    The rest.

While it may seem STO ranks pretty low keep in mind those are all top-notch games, I mean really good ones. And STO still has a lot of potential, though the F2P model killed a lot of that. In order to "rise" in my opinion STO has a lot of work to do and change it's course quite a bit.

Btw: I kow a few boars. But not of them became one because STOs ground combat was lacking :P

you just reminded me also, of the old Game ST:Borg. It was kind of an Adventure game, with pretty good movie like graphics for it's day and age.

    1. Away team (because it requires you to think about your choices and time critical positions and such, proper challenge)
    2. Armada 2 Fleet Ops (significantly better and easily the best upgrade to A2).
    3. Elite Force (just because it was a lot of fun, my brother and myself playing vs ai, the mini photon launcher, secondary phaser rifle setting, epic!)

not sure where sto is on the list, but it isnt in my top 5 of trek games.
    T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW.

Sure it's not the best game out there, but it's like comparing a five star restaurant to Burger King. Doesn't mean Burger King is bad, it's just the other is miles ahead of it.

And for the record, Birth of the Federation is the best, end of.

Birth of the Federation is still easily one of the best 4X games I have ever played... Pity it will not run (stably anyway) on anything later than XP...

i would like a trek game that had sector space exploration like (microsoft Freelancer) combat in one of two modes players choice. Bridge commander or starfleet command . and ground combat since we have bridge officers with us like star trek away team. with social zone just as they are now.

i only ***** because i care or something. elbow drop your parents.

    spiderman 2499

for starters there are no bullets they are energy weapons, besides which one click does = one shot, secondly just cos you would prefer a perminant shooter mode doesnt mean everyone does, you only need to press B to go to shooter mode, i also happen to think all the ship 3D models are fine as they are.

you leave my game be, it`s NO.1 for me just the way it is thanks.

    there are no others.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

LOOOL. You forgot the best games about star trek made ever, Starfleet Command I and Starfleet Command II (plus expansions).

And of course, bridge commander. To the op, seriously, you need to get more info and play more games.. :P, and of course you dont have a little idea about what "the best game" means. Star Trek Armada 1 was fine, but the second part.. pfffffffff one of the worst games ever made. And you think that is one of the "bests" star trek games.. lol, that says it all.

seriously?? lol, then why the hell are you playing space fights in STO?? because they are even more boring than SFC was back in the days lol. Obviously some of you like arcade games, not tactical / strategic games, i get that.
