There's people running around with the mk XI blue TOS Phaser. It might not do as much damage, but it looks cool. Even if we can't upgrade our Lobi stuff... they still have their advantages as well as looks.
Also... the Lobi armors kinda come with free costume customization options. ^^
bull****.
they could easily have sold upgrade items/tokens for the old stuff.
instead they choose to exclude the vast majority of the playerbase by making non-upgrade t5u separate from t6, and blocking these ships from being upgraded further.
they loose all those sales in favour of whale milking.
admiralcarter is actually spot-on. As are you, skollulfr. No need to throw obscenities out there. (Delta Rising is a touchy subject with many players; I empathize.)
I think admiralcarter is saying a player can do Delta Rising without needing to spend anything. You're pointing out how Cryptic could make monies on this. Both are legitimate statements.
Bottom line: Cryptic's business decisions are a done deal for this release. Hindsight is 20-20. The only way to make a strong-enough statement about disapproving of the changes/implementations is to NOT spend any monies on STO.
Then again: No money to Cryptic/PWE, no STO. And I don't think a STO post-mortem will identify this as the killing factor for the game.
It would REALLY help to have Cryptic host a virtual convention for players, with co-sponsored sessions. Outline game play. Discuss the product roadmap. Get input from players (aka customers). Address concerns, help the community to understand game development better, how Cryptic can continue to improve the game. Not that it would ever happen, though... Cryptic doesn't demonstrate the capability to interact with the customer (player) base, as I'm suggesting.
Another thing that I don't understand:
Lobi ships were not leveless and all knew that but they will be FREE upgradable. Lobi gear are leveless but they will STOP level beyond 50 lvl and will NOT be FREE upgradable. What's the logic in it?

The 'if people don't spend money on STO,there won't be a STO' is a dead horse beaten over and over again. You can milk the 'STO is the only Star Trek MMO' only so far,if the game isn't good enough to spend money on,it isn't good enough to spend money on.
Players leave (and stay away from) STO because they are sick and tired of PWE's 'cash grab' mentality, and Cryptic's unrelenting push for 'same old, same old' grind content.
The PWE/Cryptic sweatshop...not where the game is made, but where the game is played!
Take back your home, end the grind!

Unfortunately, there will always be players that love the Star Trek IP so much, that they will throw every last cent they have at the game for every single imperfect item they release. Most of the ship models have bugs that annoy people who pay attention to detail but yet people buy them up regardless. PWE isn't going to take the time to fix these things if players throw money at them and buy these items regardless. The same applies to the leveling Lobi stuff. Although a lot of people are very unhappy that their leveless items will no longer be leveless and as a result, will not scale beyond level 50. You still have players willing to throw money at them to buy more stuff.
