    STO completely botched the Guardian. It should have been more along the line toward Enterprise J than back toward the Ambassador. Because what they came up with, is flat TRIBBLE ugly!

    That's a pretty far cry from the Vengance. In fairness, it has a lot more in common with the Galaxy and Ambassador class. But if you want to see some eerie similarities: linky

    Im not talikng about that flat waffer of an escort

    Theres a pic called Guardian Cruiser and it looks like the USS Vengeance from JJTrek

    but i agree that waffer Escort is FUUUUUUGLY!!!

    id rather fly a brick a nice rectangle red brick then that ugly eyesore.

    maybe my eyes are in backwards or maybe i got double vision but i could swear that it looks nothing like the wishful thinking your bringing up.

    EEEK!!! :eek: i just threw up a little im my mouth thats ugly as the original sin which was sex...wait i like sex so no not like that its ugly as as oh man idk but thats horrendous.

    But yeah i seen the pic in the blog and i gues maybe it was the angle but it did remind me of the vengeance and i was thinking "way to go cryptic sneak more JJCrap i nto STO".

    Not wishfull thinking more like hoping to GAWD they didnt make a JJTrek ship and ws trying to see if i ws wrong which looks ;like for the love of all things good in STO i am.

    Other then the basic trek shape, I see nothing similar.

    Actually, I rather like the Guardian-class. It actually manages to look like a regular Starfleet ship for once.

    The other two? WTF happened?

    As for the Ent-J? We've got a whole century to go, minimum, before that thing is even thought of. There's time for the lineage to build towards it.

    I might be wrong but they cant use anything from the new films as this is a CBS rights games the new films are owned by paramount. cryptic would have to pay a hell of alot to get the rights to use anything from the new films.
    As far as i know they has been only one ship added to the game that CBS did not own n that is the vesta n the deal they made for the rights (as far i know) has not been published.

    The Guardian looks far more like an Ambassarore (especially the early Probert design) or a Galaxy.... about the only thing it has in common with the Vengeance is a darker color.

    The ovular nacelles, ovular saucer, rounded and curvy engineering hull, v-neck design all make me see something in line with the cousin of a Galaxy-class cruiser.

    Course, maybe all dark skinned things look the same to you.

    yeah, the guardian looks like probert's ambassador design. it doesn't look anything like the vengeance.

    Its human to error and i error alot

    anyways before this turns into a flame/troll thread which was not the purpose can someone please close this thread?

    Pfft .. .All the fat Fed whales look the same ... ...:D

    Seriously though, it's kinda reasonable to expect their to be similarities, after all, the iconic shape of a federation cruiser is well known, and even JJ new that the design had to be recognizably "Starflleet". I think it's a stretch to say that it's a copy or plagiarized from JJTrek.

    My first thought was a Monarch Class just a bit kitbashed. The Vengeance never crossed my mind tbh. Though...of all the T6 ships it still looks the best "new" Trek ship.

    The Guardian Class actually looks kinda good to me. Its more inline with cannon Star Trek Cruisers. I think I would buy it. If the price is cheap enough.

    The Guardian class more reminds me of a cross between the early Probert Ambassador and the Butt dragging horror that was the Perpetual Excalibur class.

    Have to admit that the concept art looks pretty decent.
    Original wave Lifetimer and Closed Beta tester.

    The Scryer class looks good, but the other Fed ships look terrible. The Guardian, I am reserving judgement, but it is looking nice.

    The Klingon Maha class looks very aggressive and I love it.

    The Guardian doesn't look anything like the Vengence. Besides... its only Concept Art, not an actual render.

    The closest we've got is the Intel Sci's saucer is similar to the Vengence's.

    I don't really see it either...it sorta gets me thinking this is cryptic's take on if a Ambassador and a Galaxy had a baby.

    There are already 2 ships in game that are based off of ships that showed up in JJ's star trek movies.

    The Tal shiar adapted destroyer and Avenger class ships.

    Just becasue YOU dont like the designs doesnt mean everyone else doesnt like them.

    OP, do you mean this: Guardian Cruiser?

    If so, to me, that looks more like a Galaxy class.

    I'm REALLY hoping that concept art changes a lot on the final product. Dog Dragging Its A*S*S Over Carpet is NOT my idea of a Federation starship.
