Old Fleet Patrol Escort question

There are some of us still flying the old retired Fleet Patrol Escort, not the current Refit version.

I was just wondering if people like myself who still have this (Still pretty good) relic are gonna get shafted with the inability to upgrade her.

I'd appreciate an honest answer if a Dev or Mod knows the status of this ship class.

    This is basically the question on everyone's mind in general with the upgrades.

    But I get the feeling this ship isn't going to get an upgrade.

    Already answered:
    Tier 5 starships that have been omitted from this list, as they don’t qualify for an upgrade, are those that fall into one of the following categories:
    • Starships with a Dilithium or Rank-Up Token cost
    • Starships that cost Fleet Credits only
    • Starships that are awarded from completion of an episode
    • Mirror Universe Starships

    The article seemed to imply that not all T5 ships will be upgradable.
    Well excuse me for having enormous flaws that I don't work on.

    According to Anazonda's post and contrary to what he has said the original FLEET Patrol Escort should be upgradable as it is a T5 Fleet ship.

    The Orginal Fleet Escort, now the Patrol Escort is not upgradable as it is a Dil and Capt reward token Ship.

    I have Every Patrol Escort Varient out right now and by far the Fleet Patrol Escort is my favorite varient. I only use the Refit because it has improved Hull and an 8th weapon slot making it a superior ship to the Fleet Patrol Escort.

    That does not apply to the Fleet Patrol Escort. Prior to the addition of fleet starbases in S6, there was the Fleet Escort. S6 renamed that to the Patrol Escort, and added the fleet variant called the Fleet Patrol Escort. The fleet version cost 4 Fleet Ship Modules, just like most of the other Fleet ships we will be able to upgrade. With the addition of the Fleet Patrol Escort Refit, the Fleet Patrol Escort was made unavailable. Some of us, however, still have the Fleet Patrol Escort, and would like to be able to upgrade it with Delta Rising.

    is it me or did cryptic lied again, jhas would be upgraded to tier 6 for free.. it will never be a tier 6 ship, just a tier 5-u

    I have the Fleet Patrol Escort as well that existed before the Tempest and I would like an answer to this question.

    Logic dictates that since it had a 4 FSM cost and is a Fleet ship it meets the criteria for being upgradeable to T5-U.

    However, in an unprecedented move Cryptic made this ship unavailable and replaced it with a new version to match the C-Store Tempest. The new one will obviously be upgradeable to T5-U, but the question is, will Cryptic forget that the old version still exists in many players' drydocks?

    But hold on, before the Tempest came along, the Patrol Escort - Fleet Patrol Escort situation was exactly the same as the Star Cruiser - Fleet Star Cruiser.

    The Fleet Star Cruiser also cost 4 FSMs and had no C-store unlock, yet it is in the upgradeable list and the old FPE is not. Why's that? Nothing to do with dilithium costs...

    This will be disappointing. I still use the Fleet Patrol Escort before the Tempest came, and I prefer it over the Tempest.

    I don't think that list is entirely complete (mobius temporal destroyer is also missing.)

    Set your expectations based on the categories (fleet ship? Yes, T5-U.)

    Well... here's hoping they don't forget about those of us with the dinosaur ship that is still viable after the refit replaced her in the Fleet Stores.

    Didn't they already make it lore that this particular variant was "retired" (a designation only used by cryptic for this particular ship) in favor of the newer updated version? So why would it be upgradeable all of a sudden?

    I gotta say, this is a question that one could easily answer on their own, and seems a lot more like bitter rabble-rousing for the sake of fomenting dissent...

    How can it be answered easily?

    There is no in-game lore as to why the old one was retired. It was just outright replaced with the refit, in order to line up with the newly released Tempest. There are still pre-retirement Fleet Patrol Escorts out in the wild. They weren't upgraded to refit or removed entirely. Also... people payed Zen for the Fleet modules, which at the time she was available meant 4 modules as there was no C-Store variant back then. Technically, the pre-refit FPE still counts as a Fleet level ship, and would kinda be in the same boat as the Fleet Star Cruiser that doesn't have a C-Store variant.

    Also... technically, the FPE Refit is the Maelstrom class. SAME as the old FPE.

    Did this question ever get an answer?

    I could only navigate halfway through the monster thread of happiness where everyone tells the Devs how much they like the upgrade to T5U idea so I may have missed an important Dev announcement on the subject....

    Because people still payed for FSMs for it. If they dont want another backlash..Theyll let it be T5U

    I posted the question to Al today on Twitter. 'any way to confirm/deny T5U for pre - tempest Flt Patrol Escort? Seems theres some confusion about its status.'

    He responded tonight with 'I'll look into it.'.

    Now I know some people will take this as a sign of trouble. But even if they did overlook it. They now have a chance to correct their mistake. But just to err on the safe side. This thread should probably continue to receive attention from those interested to keep it from falling into the blackhole that is beyond the 2nd page of these forums.

    No problem. I myself have a Pre-Tempest FPE. And have no intention of spending another 5 bucks to re-upgrade it only to face another 10-20 bucks to upgrade both the Tempest FPE and my CStore Tempest.

    I've got one on my Engie. Got her because she had the same BOff layout as my old Advanced Escort, so getting used to her wasn't as much of a problem.

    Cryptic said that it would be upgraded to Tier 6 starship capabilities not Tier 6. Easy to confuse the two.

    One thing to remember is that you don't need to upgrade ALL variants of Patrol escort you have, just upgrade the best one to T5-U.
