Hi Dev team!
Say, any chance we'll see the much wanted <title> tag replace the <rank> tag in NPC dialogs when addressing us in Expansion 2?
(Because, you know, ranks are included in the title selections too and it gives us the ability to be called what we want to be called in-game
)
Thanks!

There should be an option to choose if an NPC adresses you as "rank" or "title", because i don't want to be called "M.A.C.O. Elite Commander TRIBBLE" all the time (Or whatever other title that wouldn't make sense)
Would be fun for the titles that make sense thought
Agreed. Frankly My character is a Captain, because he refused the promotion to Admiral. Even in my fleet it's Rear Admiral Lower Half. Sir will do in a pinch, but I prefer Captain.
It's YOUR choice.
Don't want to be called "MACO Specialist"? Don't chose that - chose a rank, or anything else, instead.
Being addressed as Vice Admiral, by every NPC in the game, regardless of the clothes you are wearing (civilian, mercenary, swimwear, Bajoran militia, etc.) or the rank you display if in uniform (like commander), is no choice at all.
So a <title> tag with its many choices (including ranks!) would be much better that the current locked in <rank> tag.
To put it another way - what if there were only one clothing option in the game? What if you HAD to wear a pre-chosen full Starfleet (or Klingon or Romulan) uniform and ONLY that uniform with no other choice in the game? It's the same as the current <rank> only tag.
See what I'm talking about here?

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

No point in offering a decomissioned rank.
Anyways, I'd love to be adressed as "Genius Storbank".
Right, because being referred to as a rank (that there is no evidence for it's removal) is better than 'Moist' right?

Well the fact that the rank hasn't been seen, mentioned or indicated since TMP era, is pretty solid evidence... I know people like to ignore facts when it suits them, but it's really just a cheap laugh for the rest of us.
And yes... Moist is a much better title than Commodore... At least "Moist" is still a concept.
Um what? There are precisely two RA LHs post TOS, they are referred to solely as Admiral, could be anything from costuming errors to an error. Or is O'Brian still a Lieutenant?
Starfleet is not the US Navy and there is no reason for them to just rename a rank.
And not 'Moist' is a stupid title, unless you're trolling.

Yes. I could see that having appeal for my ego. Too bad there's not a way to earn the title "Sweetie".
That being said, I tend to wear my captain pips and would prefer that to being called admiral. I'd like it to be an option.
Well.. you know, once we get the candy land, you may just get your wish.
LOVE this one...
I do see how it might be fun for a brief time or how someone really immersed in their RP might like it. As long as the rest that don't, aren't forced to. I'm cool with it.

The only thing you would be 'forced' to do is chose something from the list of titles you have earned - which includes all the ranks - so if you want to be called Vice Admiral still, it's there!

This character is why I don't play my Romulan any more. Tovan Khev is NOT my BFF! Get him off my bridge!
Please include this option in the game!
If some players want to have NPC's refer to them by Moist or Punching Bag, so what? Nobody else can read their mission text. But I wear Captain's pips and use the Captain title because Flag Officers fly desks, not ships! I hate it when I'm refered to as Vice Admiral Giovanni when I've never use either the title or pips for that station, because I want my character to be a CAPTAIN, not a desk-jockey!
So please, let us start using titles, so we can be Moist Johnson, Punching Bag Decker, and yes, CAPTAIN Maxamillian Ulysses Giovanni!
Hello Spider's Bane
Hello Shaka, when the walls fell
Hello Crash Test Tribble
Hello Steam Powered
The list goes on...
What I have seen, is if I take any character, regardless of name, and set the 'First' and 'Last' names in their profile, then NPCs in missions will refer to me by the name I put in the profle, not by my characters handle.
So titles not so much, but if you're deadset on being called Moist by all the NPCs, you can hop into your character details and set the First/Last name to 'Moist' to the same effect.
^ This Please!!!
And please add "Commodore" and "Fleet Captain" to the title list, unlocked upon hitting Rear Admiral, Lower Half. (Both are canonical, and should be offered as options to the players, if they want them.)

I'm thinking maybe pancakes." ~ John Casey
The only gotcha with it is potentially implementation. It would probably all depend how those mission texts are generated - if it's just one variable to change, or if something crazy is going on in their code that would prevent it. I wouldn't want to miss out on our story content to implement this.
Crypic won't do it because it too tedious & boring work to fix. Also Geko appears to be a fan of away team in space so expect the gameplay according to the rank you don't want also be forced down your throat if you want to continue playing & be competetive at it. *sigh*
