Mostly empty battlezone full of lag inducing bubbles? Not fun. Punching space lizards in the face? Fun. Slogging through an impossibly long crafting rep? Not fun. Creating new and powerful equipment? Fun. Confusing, long, boring queued events? Not fun. Taking on a super powerful enemy and winning one on one? Fun. Slaving away for items that are only worth using on one map once a year? Not fun. Earning unique rewards that can be used at any time? Fun. Lobi items? Not fun. C-Store items? Fun. Concentration on ships and only ships? Not fun. Well rounded purchasable available for all tastes? Fun. Paying through the nose for things I don't care about? Not fun. Paying for things I love? Fun. New Doff system? Not fun. Old Doff system? Fun. Reputation? Not fun. Foundry? Fun. Space battlezones? Not fun. Featured Episodes? Fun.

STOP MAKING THE GAME NOT FUN AND MAKE IT MORE FUN.

TRIBBLE this. I'm going to bed.

Thank you for posting your concerns. We appreciate our costumers taking their time to give us feedback.

Fortunally, we are the developers and excecutives of the game you are playing, and as such, we know better than you what is a good game and what is not.

While you think that your, and others who feel like you, concerns are valid, we really don't.

This is also the reason why we did not give people time to give feedback on the upcoming, player beneficial (LOL) change to the XP gathering for the crafting.

Feel free to submit futher feedback for us to ignore.

    Now please be quiet.

Not enough condescension and accusations of whining for the sake of whining. I couldn't see Cryptic, or Geko specifically, saying this.

Paying through the nose for things I don't care about? Not fun.

    why would you do that?

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

Here is how you do it.

    1) Take a ship with around 6k DPS and an excellent tanking capability.
    2) Start Fluid Dynamics
    3) Get in the Fluidic Space map
    4) Get a disconnection
    5) Choose Normal Login instead of Safe Login

You are now in the Fluidic Space map..... without escort ships. That is right, just you. No NPC's. Just you.

And as you can guess, there are two Borg Fleets and a Diamond Ship all waiting for you.

Was an accidental discovery, but I then spend 20 minutes fighting the Diamond Ship before finally beating her. Never did I feel so happy after my victory (not even that one time in the Romulan Story Arc where the enemy Scimitar NPC blasted all my NPC's away, leaving me and her in one match. I won).

Danged positive about it being the Diamond. Its not impossible. It just does not go as easy as energy spam.

My secret is love for Torpedoes.

1 Excelsior, 2 forward 1 aft Quantum Torpedo Launcher, 2 Quantum Consoles. Torpedo Spread III, Tactical team I, and the tactical career buffs. Not enough to breach the shields of the Diamond, but a full spread this way would eat 7-8%, with a normal spread at 3%. Take into account the healing factor of that ship and the fact that I almost died about 6 times, I ended up at 20 minutes of combat.

That ship sits on 6k and an awesome capability of tanking. But playing with those Torpedoes is a lot more fun for me to instant do massive damage then to see beam arrays taking of 1% every x seconds on a ship, at a very steady rate.

EDIT: Also note that this was not an STF, but an Episode. I think that definitely helped.

After listing to the latest STOked Radio 'interview' (and I use that term loosely with regard to said interview); I believe I could honestly and accurately relate what STO Lead Designer Al Rivera's response to the OP would be (except for the fact that AL probably wouldn't bother to read anything in these forums in the first place):

"Quit whining, and give me what I would consider valid feedback..." -- (such feedback resembling comments like "Great job!" and "excellent decision!")

Hasn't been "fun" for a long time now, just like being at school.

Do this, do that, dont do this, dont do that. I'm sure if they could get away with it they'd be giving us time slots when we could or could not log in...

    I'm not joking either.

I agree with most of the OP except rep/fleet grind - I think you do have to have some long-term goals to work for in an MMO, and it felt good and rewarding to me when I finally got my MACO, and had lots of rep traits to choose from, and then got my bits of embassy gear.

It's just a silly virtual accomplishment, but you have to have them in an MMO, otherwise it's just a multiplayer shooty game with no sense of depth (you also have to have other virtual world elements too, like exploration, but let's not go into that).

So yeah, the list is fine for me, except rep/fleet grind I'm ok with as it's been up till now. And the new crafting seemed like it would be ok until this upcoming patch was announced.

The main thing is that story and immersion beat everything into a cocked hat in terms of fun (for me). I mean, I enjoy build tweaking, working towards things, progression, competing with others, collecting shinies and achievements. But at the end of the day, I'm here to feel like a starship captain and goof off for an hour or so, and when I get that feeling, that's when Star Trek is the most fun.

But story is so labour intensive to make. Even with the Foundry, while there are some fantastic well-made missions there, there aren't actually all that many that are good - that should tell you something (not that players are TRIBBLE at making missions, but just that it's hard to make good missions in a game). The dev team do great stories when they do them, and I wish they would do more and more, but sadly, there's only a limited team on the game now. All they can do to keep the game fresh, it seems, is more grind elements to fill the time, and then the occasional burst of new story and the occasional revamp that makes us fall in love with the game again. For a while :)

What is this fun of which you speek?

Is that the feeling you get after grinding dilithium and EC for half a year to open 1000 lobi worth of lockboxes and you finally get something that isn't a doff pack (of white and greens), probably something realy valuable like a mirror ship?

To be fair, the playerbase here couldn't find the Admiral's Office on the old ESD... when it was a giant glowing, flashing door with a giant "Admiral's Office" sign over it, literally right in front of them when they beam in.

Because apart from the IP itself, that's the kind of crowd Cryptic attracts.
