I'm sure you realize by now that Cryptic are not to be trusted.
It doesn't matter anymore though, I don't care anymore after this last joke of an "update". They can bring on flying dragons and faeries for what I care. It's sad but I'm starting to contemplate wheather STO is getting on the level of 'Trekkels".
Unfortunately I cannot remember for the life of mine where I got that bit from. Might be mistaken, after all. Still you are right, the sad thing is that I actually had a glimmer of hope that they really start to work on certain issues the game had and it looked good. The uniforms bringing a new feel of unity and attempt to make the game make more sense lore wise. Then suddenly we get Xindi lockboxes, proclaiming "they are UFP members but... still do what they want, because LOCKBOX!". Yeah
^ Memory Alpha.org is not canon. It's a open wiki with arbitrary rules. Only what can be cited from an episode is. ^
"No. Men do not roar. Women roar. Then they hurl heavy objects... and claw at you." -Worf, son of Mogh
"A filthy, mangy beast, but in its bony breast beat the heart of a warrior" - "faithful" (...) "but ever-ready to follow the call of the wild." - Martok, about a Targ
"That pig smelled horrid. A sweet-sour, extremely pungent odor. I showered and showered, and it took me a week to get rid of it!" - Robert Justman, appreciating Emmy-Lou
So what's the problem right now? Apperently the console (according to some posters here) is not OP, so it won't make much of a difference in either PvP or PvE (except maybe NWS).
Faction uniqueness has already gone down the drain anyway. Red team versus blue Team in slightly Starfleet lokking or KDF looking ships respectively. Of course, there are the myriad of lockbox ships flying around further eroding the concept.
Yeah, they should have given everyone the TDF, especially considering the joined queues we have now, but that's apparently not the point here.
I'm just glad i have a nice soft counter against slow FAW teams in PvP and a more easy way to farm NWS.
BTW.: some consoles considered for future trading in this thread are very much ship bound and will never be available through a box. Metreon, Torpedo Point Defense ...

The Sabotage Probe was originally from the T5 Dhelan Retrofit, and could only be used on Dhelan-class ships. Now, it is not.
So, consoles that were originally bound to 1 ship could possibly end up in those boxes.

Yeah man, I think I have a big red horizontal line on my forehead from headdesking when I read that. It's.....surreal, yeah, that's the word - surreal.
When I read pure unadulterated TRIBBLE like this, I can't help it but wonder WTF are the people composing that thinking? Are they drunk or stoned or sth.?
TBH, after all I've seen from this lol excuse for a developer, I've been lead to 2 possible conclusions:
- The people making the decisions are lying through their teeth about being Star Trek fans and have only watched short video-clips of the shows on YouTube;
or
- They really genuinely believe that the entirety of their playerbase here is consisted completely of brain-dead morons.
There's simply no other explanation about what's going on here.

The Dhelan is a T4 ship, but you're right. It still looses its set bonus and having the other console made available through a box won't happen. So it's basically a downgrade overall.
For the kdf side this trade is just not fair. Its like exchanging a c store value console for a lobi console. AA is in the right hands sure worth lobi and face it almost all fed consoles are TRIBBLE worth!;)
Welcome to the Vanilla zone people. Told ya for months now this is the wrong way to go. Same abilities, just different cardboard cutouts.
I mean how long till the feddies get singularities powers under a different name? Or a ship that is just as powerful as the scimitar or get said ship nerfed into nothingness?
It's comin and at this point I'm just going to kick back, open a brew and watch the train wreck.

You were right and I was quite vocal and supportve of that stance in your threads because I've always been aware that the only thing more greedy and ignorant that the playerbase around here are the developers themselves.
I saw things like these comming since Season 7, that's why I have always been vocal about it in some naive hope that Cryptic could pick up a clue. Sadly, I strogly believe that under the current management they lack both the vision and capacity to make anything substantial.
It's comin and at this point I'm just going to kick back, open a brew and watch the train wreck.
I've arrived at that point yesterday with Trololo 9.5 being released. I used to be passionate and hopefull about STO, but I can't care any longer. If the developer is hell-bent on making a circus then, like you said, I'm going to kick back and watch the trainwreck unfolding before my eyes until Star Citizen releases and then I'm completely out, if this game manages to last until then with all the boneheaded decisions they've been making lately. Hell, I might be out with ED releasing, the sad fact is STO has become boring, bland and pretty pointless this year.
This is what happens when game developers listen to what the players say. Not the intelligent ones who want 3 completely different factions with all kinds of different abilities, but the ones who want everything on 1 character so they don't have to make a choice and be left without something. Diversity is what makes online games fun. You aren't supposed to have everything the other side has. I still think the temporary cloak ability from the romulan reputation was a terrible idea, and I remember the hundreds of posts by fed players crying for a battle cloak after LOR went live. And of course all the complaints about klingons getting all the good escorts and battleships, which lead to some of the worst and ugliest fed ships I've ever seen. Fed players need to just learn to use what they're given and stop crying about what the other factions have. If you want it so bad, go play as a romulan and ally with the kdf. I'm actually ashamed to call myself a starfleet officer. Maybe its time to start a ROM or kdf character.

You are not alone, when ED and Star Citizen are released more than a few people are going to peace the f*** out of STO, especially red side.
Look on the bright side though, we get to witness the confusion and rage first hand when all the moron Feds find out the AA is not the be all and end all console because the KDF actually knows to shoot a torpedo at them.
I've been using this console as a Fed for 24 hours now. Frankly, it seems no one on the KDF side ever used it to its full potential. Oh well, happy days for me now.

You probably weren't around then I imagine back in the glory days of Klingon drain boats.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.
- They really genuinely believe that the entirety of their playerbase here is consisted completely of brain-dead morons.
Well it's not the entirety, but the majority are Feddies sooooo, yeah same thing.
But yeah, we all may as well fly our ships into Qo'nos sun, buy the -shiver- traitor Klingons from the store and remake all our toons as Feddies using the store klinks and alien species. We are at that point now.
For me the biggest problem I have always had with cross-faction consoles is that I spent money on these consoles, actual honest to Cthulhu, cold, hard cash. Yet all the Feddies have to do is run a quick foundry farming mission or two and they get them for free. What makes this worse is they have always gotten our best consoles which means that more Fed players use our KDF consoles then actual KDF players simply because some people don't want to buy a ship for its console, or they don't like the design or some other reason.
Now if the cross-consoles had been equal the entire time, AA for 180 Torp launcher or TPD, then I would have felt a little better, but not by much. It all boils down to the same problem we can all agree on, making the entire game a bland vanilla pos.
I've never asked for any of these faction lockbox console swaps, nor do I care for em. but I'll say this much i Play every faction equally, and if you have to rely only on one trick pony consoles to win at pvp then you're missing the point of pvp entirely, Philosophical arguments aside.
You probably weren't around then I imagine back in the glory days of Klingon drain boats.
Correct. I remember those days fondly, too. Me and a buddy would both be in Vo'Quvs with dedicated Drain Builds, Acetons Assimilators. He had Adv.Siphon Drones and I had Adv.Orion Interceptors.
Any other guys along with us were along for a good ride of easy kills
But SCI has always been a niche in STO in recent years, and with the KDF playerbase being smaller, you'll see dedicated drain builds even less. Esp. compared to those old days.

That's funny. Because the Feds have been on a campaign for a long time to either get AA nerfed or get it via lockbox.
Also, it's not one thing. It's been a series of concessions Cryptic has forced the KDF to give up to the Feds. Various nice consoles surrendered, for example:
Vent Theta Radiation
Aceton Assimilators
Jump Console
And the mother of them all, Plasmonic Leech
But hey, we got a glorified battery that utilizes a valuable console slot out of the trade this time

Sad part is I already watched this happen once with Battlestar Galactica online. It's REALLY sad that STO is going that way.
But PWE puts out Swordsman that is everything as far as different but balanced could be and I have to scratch my head and look at STO devs and wonder why they are not copying the playbook under the headings of "Different but equal".

Only in part due to how asinine people are being over this.
KDF got new uniforms, including that skirt they've wanted. The MU BoP that was clamored for on the forums since MU ships hit the scene is finally out there. Some long-sought bug fixes such as being able to customize OpFor BOffs.
But because of one single console, "9.5 is nothing but a slap in the face and an FU to KDF from Cryptic"

Cool story, bro.
9.5 is a slap in the face of the entire game and the playerbase. Well at least the part of the playerbase with a functional brain.
Nothing to do with KDF, but I'm sure you'll cry foul and whine while give your best to try and turn it into a KDF issue, as always. Hell, I don't even PvP, nor do I own the AA console. Just take a look what me and talonxv are talking about.
Doesn't matter anymore anyway. Enjoy your Trekkels or Farmville or whatever. This playerbase fully deserves the game they're getting.

Not an FU to the KDF. It's basically turning this into a vanilla flavored cardboard cut out game. Might look different, but same abilities. At this rate only a matter of time till Star Fleet gets warp cores to match the singularities of the romulans.

Can Romulans get normal warp cores with the +40 power and no singularity ones too ? Please?
Let us wear Swimsuits on Foundry maps or bridges please! I would pay zen for that.

Whatever, why not after all - seen how the Romulans were also blatantly robbed with this lockbox. The Roms are the first faction to be sacrificed with a T5 ship console in a lockbox exchange, which used to be off limits. Not to mention the first faction to be robbed of a T5 C-Store ship via mirror version. The green faction hasn't even received KDF level of development yet and it's already starting to suffer from the greed and lack of creativity.
/sarcasm/ It's all shaping nicely. Congrats to the RR for becomming KDF Mk II. /sarcasm/
