Since Roms have to choose a side (Fed/Kling), would it be a good idea to have hybrid ships, ships with the look and feel of the Fed/Kling sides, but decidedly Romulan? While not a suggestion, an example of this would be like the D'dreridex with a saucer section instead of the beak like forward section.
If both sides shared tech then sure. But it would not be Rom exclusive. If anything it would be for fleets to unlock with a nice expensive time gate. Then all players in the fleet can use the hybrid ships. SF/Rom or KDF/Rom.

Nor should they be. Their ships would look weird.

A T1 fleet ship would be an idea, but like the Obelisk Carrier, let be claimable at Lv 40 as a free ship, then other versions at a cost.
With the distinctly different styles i would prefer such hybrids never materialized.
But as topics such as this always end up on this i will throw it out there: Battle cloak for all. FYI this statement does not reflect my personal opinion on the subject.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
...And this is why you people aren't ship designers... A "Hybrid" design doesn't imply cruddy kitbashes of two different-factioned ships. It means something that actually merges elements of two factions. Something like a ship that looks somewhat like a Ha'___ but with Klingon-style less glowy nacelles, more pokey gun bits, and more angles and facets. Or a Mogai-lke ship, but with a more T'liss-like "saucer" in between the wings. Etc.
I wouldn't rule out a hybrid starship when we start getting into 2411, but for now I honestly would like the Ship Team to focus on finishing adding the canonical Starships like we were promised when STO launched. Even the ugly ones. Even the K'Vort (hear me Geko?)
No, its a terrible idea, because being a Romulan means both things, the asthetic of the ships and the power behind it.. change one thing, you dont have romulans anymore.
Production background wise we've already seen something similar; namely the Vor'cha-class. It was stated in the 'Star Trek: The Next Generation Companion' that the Vor'cha-class ship was meant to illustrate the marriage of Klingon and Federation technologies due to the ongoing d
Yea... you should probably think Fed-hull with Rom tech instead... MAYBE swapping a nacelle or something...
Do we have that already? Like seriously, not.
Fed ship with set Romulan the and plasma weapons
Tal Shiar ship with Borg set and with tetryon/plasma/or nanite distruptor weapons
Klingon ship with Fed Set(8472) with phaser weapons.
Isn't that hybrid ships?? Starts to look at original post again.

as someone else put it a few days *threw up a little in my mouth*.
i can just imagine it now the romulation starship romuprise.. i think its best to leave the starship designs the way they are, i wouldnt want the dd to get mutilated in such a fashion.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

I can deffo see different fed and KDF ships using tech from romulans (singularity), however, i don't see that happening.
That sounds like the fugliest ship I could imagine.

lol, it was the only idea that I could think of.

How about a Defiant, with a beak and wings?.....
Yea, no...
Meh, that's just a warbird. :P
Think a mogai with a nova or voyager style narrow saucer and enlarged warp nacelles.
Think a galaxy with D'd nacelles.
KDF
Think a BoP with a mogai like head.
And the Ktinga with the romulan decal. (hint hint.)

Aaaaaand I just threw up in my mouth a little. Again. Seems to be happening with increasing frequency around here.

just in case you missed it.
and the decal for the T'varo PLEASE
Most if not all of the background ships in star trek at one point or another have benefited from it.
Heck there was an entire industry of 'what-ifs' for decades before TNG.

I don't really care if there is a cloak (battle or otherwise) on these hybrids,i'm not a very good play, and I sometime forget the Roms have them. lol
Commanding Officer: Captain Pyotr Ramonovich Amosov
Dedication Plaque: "Nil Intentatum Reliquit"
so, the Yeager class?
This i can get behind, tbh, i dont see why most of the Romulan ships dont have it as an option
