    Well personally Id prefer a T5 Raptor that does what its supposed to, kill stuff without making it yet another gimmicky carrier.

    KDF needs a T5 c store raptor with 5 fore weapons, Wing cannons, a Fused tail gun...

    ...AND 6 Tac consoles.
    That'll show the stinking Feds who pwns who in STO.

    I agree. A way to set it apart from the basic escort is to give all RAPTORS sensor analysis. That and the cloak would set them apart from the Fed escorts and the Nausicaan destoyers.

    I like the idea of a BoP "Wing" or "Squadron" ... How about you buy the BoP, say something like the Ning'tao in stats ... but ... it comes with 2 "wingmates" that spawn with you, and would have say the same basic set of commands that carrier pets currently have ...

    So you could stick to a single "wedge" formation and do standard strafing runs on larger or hard targets ... Or you could split them off to do there own things against low level spam or other carrier pets/fighters ...

    As long as the over all stats didn't exceed (by to much) the stats of the Mogh ... It would be a blast to play ... It would take a lot of balancing to make sure you couldn't insta-gib everything, like certain compromises on Hull, Shield or BoFF/Weapon slots, but it would be so much fun having a wing of BoP's running around ...

    Personally I'd like to see a raptor with the following:

    5/2 weapon, Battle cloak and say +15 to weapons plus a further +5 or 10 when using cannons and if you use quad cannons, you should get a further +5 ontop of the other bonuses.

    Or something like that.

    I mean Raptors should be the head of the class in damage dealing with cannons. Just my 2 cents.

    When it comes to the whole "is a Raptor an escort" thing, I'd have to say that they are 2 different classes of ships. They're very similar, but they're not the same.

    After all, battle cruisers are not cruisers, and support vessels are not science vessels, so why would Raptors be escorts?

    Back to the main topic, I agree that we need an end-game C-store Raptor. I like the idea of a Raptor with 5 fore weapons, 5 tac consoles, wing cannons, and/or a fused rapid firing aft dual cannon like the Patrol Escort refit has. Maybe make it the Pach Retrofit or... something like that. That'd be cool. Might even make me take a break from my Avenger and play the Klingon side again. :D

    I suppose a Tactical Analysis could work, but I think we'd need something even more unique... how about a long range heavy disruptor cannon? After all, it is a scout ship... and scout ships are going to need to evaluate enemy defenses, one way or the other. Though, perhaps both the Tactical Analysis AND a long range heavy disruptor cannon? That could be another ship right there... we don't have a Qorgh Retrofit yet right? There's that.

Oh, and the gif is actually a custom made super version of a similar gif, of which there are only 3 or 4 copies to be found by Google, and even then, evidently of an unknown source. Yep, it's one of those things. Stuff people have made, spread around, only for it to vanish and you to be the only person who still has a copy, not even knowing where it came from... like, literally at all. Eventually, you get bored and leave, leaving the old Bulwark never flown... until later. Your main is long complete. Your new alt main, based off some character you pulled out of nothing just to explain away some starship being in service without the command of your dear admiral, is also complete. Mostly. Their reps and doffs are hard at work, getting you stuff. You realize the potential, and head back for your dear admiral, pull the most Voth themed build you can out of thin air, and suit up in your giant ship in the shape of you know what. You head out... and cause all sorts of havoc. Enemies scream out your name as their very life is drained away by your swarms of Aceton Assimilators. They complain to the devs of your OPness when you revive yourself from death every time you die. Do you show any form of mercy? No. After all, this isn't the United Federation of Planets, this is mother frakkin' Starfleet, where you explore strange new worlds and kick butt never kicked before. Oh, and you realize that I just wrote another speech rivaling your own signature. Cool. Oh, wait, that's just the original draft, it is part of my signature now.     This guy gets it. KDF was supposed to be the faction that leans toward Tac specialization, similar to how Romulans are innately sciency with their cloaks and singularity powers and feds are (or were originally) more engineering capable.

    So why is the Federation making ships that, whether or not they are the SAME class they are equivalent/analog to the Tac ships of the Tac faction, can put out more damage? The kumari, the tempest, the Defiant, the Avenger, the Armitage, etc. They're slowly usurping KDF's specialization.

    We need a raptor, there is a lack of C store raptors, and they're already lackluster compared to escorts, ships which are supposed to be similar in design intent but limited by federation canonical doctrine.

    This is a phenomenon that has to be righted, and it's unrealistic to expect more than 1 KDF ship from these devs. They also always complain that KDF ships aren't as marketable.

    So the solution is simple. They make a ship that combines the latest of the Federations' advances in the small-tactical ship role. A raptor with the defiant's five tac consoles, the avenger's ability to mount a cloak, the Kumari's 5 fore slots + wing cannons forward firepower, the tempest's rear mounted fused DHC/DC whatever tailgun, and the Armitage's ability to field its own support. It reestablishes KDF tactical superiority as originally intended and creates a ship with appeal to a wide array of audiences that will sell like hotcakes. Everyone wins.

    Final proposal:

    2 raptors, 1 low tier, 1 refit t5 with:

    5 fore, 2 Aft + fused disruptor tail gun.
    5 Tac consoles
    Universal Console: "Targ Pack(Name pending spirited debate): Calls in 2 level X allied BoPs (or raptors) that will attack your target until destroyed or x amount of time."

    Limit the console to any Raider and Raptor, but give it a 2 pc set bonus with the wing cannons, which are limited to the raptor of course, that gives the C-store raptor an upgrade from regular cloak to battle cloak, and then either a CD or Tac skill buff.

    Distribute the Cannons and the Console between the two ships.

    Boom.

    Edit: Thought of a personal request. A long time ago there was a thread about an A-10 warthog themed Raptor built around a massive rapid firing cannon that worked on the Ammo mechanic from the Piercing Plasma Rifle, Plasma Repeater Pistol, and Romulan Flamethrower, but even more interestingly, the model was requested to have Warthog inspired nose art. The planes, themselves called warthogs, often feature nose art inspired after, you guessed it, warthogs. Tusks and snouts and stuff. Klingons are infamous for their afiliation with the pig-like targ, so it wasn't a big leap to request that the ship subject of this thread be a "WarTarg" and come with angry targ-inspired nose art.

    That ship might never happen, but if there were ever to be a kdf ship model with War Targ inspired nose art, it would be the mean sucker detailed in my post.

    Good post, you are right on the mark, the KDF lacks a top end C store Raptor that is not just a shuffling of BO seats a la mirror ships which is strange for the supposedly most warlike of the main factions.

    We don't need a gimmick ship or a hybrid ship, what we need is a Raptor that is up to par with the best offerings available to the Federation and Romulans.

    The next ship we see definately needs to be a Raptor, the KDF can stand not having a Battlecruiser or BOP as the next ship for once, there is a far better selection of both available and if the devs actually decide to make Raptors different to escorts apart from minor stats and cloaking then it would be a bonus.

    Amen to that one. I do like the idea of a warthog style raptor with the gigantic fixed frontal cannons that just unleash hell upon the enemy.


    Personally like I said before, raptors should be second to none among ANYBODY when it comes to unleashing cannon storms.

    Example I think when a raptor gets DHCs, they should have a wider firing arc than other ships built in to just raptors that way they can fire CSV in a wider arc.

    Or some kind of extra bouns to damage when using straight cannons.

    IDK SOMETHING. And we need more tier 5 raptors. Currently there is no RA raptor IIRC, and ofcourse no end tier 5 raptors.

    so they can shrink the Bortas disruptor auto cannon down to fit in a BOP, why not just make it an actual weapon like the quad cannons are just a harder hitting rapid fire version.

    • 1 gets the Disruptor Auto cannon weapon

    Hell, let the feds Keep their wing cannons, I like the idea of the KDF getting a special ship weapon of their own based on the autocannon better. Makes things more distinct. Make it like a Single cannon with a 45 degree arc and [Rapid]x2 or something.

    Maybe a fused ship skill on all Raptors that makes all single cannons fire heavy bursts for one round per X minutes? Would make good use of the Raptors' common arrow-like appearance.

    (don't worry, I'm sure Cryptic will give Escorts some kind of targeting computers or something to balance their power out with Raptors)

    KDF side I've been using raptors from my very first klingon character,and currently treat the vet ship as the ultimate raptor.
    I do think that any c store raptor ship come with a unique weapon system,but really don't want to take away the kumari's unique feature of reallyheavy cannons and the raptor just doesn't feel like a torpedo boat to me.

    What about a large long underslung cannon withsomething like a 30 degree arc, hits as hard as dual heavies, compatible with all cannon skills but can make use of beam overload to fire off a shot similar to the javelin or phaser lance with an increase to the overload drain and maybe a bit of recoil?
    Call it the focused accelerated disruptor cannon or something.

    And make the thing able to use both the Puyjaq and SuQob parts in addition to itsown if they are purchased, they are just too awesome looking to not be in use in the end game.

    Consoles: 4 Tac, 3 Eng, 2 Sci (5 Tac, 3 Eng, 2 Sci)
    Turn Rate: 16
    Impulse: 0.20
    Inertia Rating: 65
    Bonus Power: +15 Weapons, +5 Engines
    Abilities: Cloak, Sensor Analysis, Console Power: Engine Overdrive (+10 engines, immune to movement debuffs/holds while active)

    The set bonus from having the Engine Overload console(from this ship and only equip able to this ship) and the Bio Neural Warhead would give a boost to torpedo and disruptor weapons.

    The set bonus for having the autocannon and the Graviton Generator would be +15 to weapon targeting systems, +15 Energy Weapon Specialization, and +15 Projectile Weapons Damage.

    I've heard a lot of whining that there are not enough KDF ships. players snub the raptors as an inefficient escort. why not reconfigure them to be the longed for science ship?

    and I don't see any problem with adding a version with a hangar OR a MVAM version. why should the feds and the roms have it but not the Klingons?

    take the qin as an example. make the CDR seat sci, add sensor analysis, hell even make the cannons aux cannons...

    Realistically though they would never in a million years spend the amount of time it would take them to revamp an entire class of ships.

    Its far less effort for them to bump the stats of an existing Raptor and move its consoles and BOs around a bit before slapping it on the C store.

    No....no....no....no no no.

    Ship was not designed to be a science ship. It was designed for 2 functions. Scouting and FIREPOWER. Personally I'd rather see a tier 5 raptor akin to the new escort the Feds got.

    Sorry, you do not suddenly redefine the whole class to shove them into a science class. No. Just no.
