I'm probably not the first to mention this, but why couldn't the borg generate a transport inhibitor fieldeffectively neutralizing this weapon?
Because "it isn't efficient" to quote 7 of 9 :P
Lot of the Star Trek stuff didn't make sense to me to begin with, Starfleet has ordnance vs the Borg they can use yet they kept using their energy weapons that they had to modulate every few shots. Heck even Picard's Tommy Gun in First Contact was a better option over any phaser rifle.
I think a modern NATO Infantry platoon would wreak havoc against a horde of Borg Drones. Frag grenades, assault rifles, machine guns, etc. etc.
Likely.
Going back to ST: First Contact, we seem to be forgetting that Picard didn't use the machine gun in other Borg drone encounters. (Not that he could have taken the gun outside of the holodeck...) I have a feeling the Borg CAN adapt; they need to encounter the threat first, then find a way to adapt.
I like to think energy attacks can be modulated, providing more time to attack, more potential damage before the Borg adapt... Maybe kinetic damage is a one-time hit, then adapted, then repelled (eg force field, etc.)
Yeah I don't understand where in Trek lore it implies that the Borg could never develop an antiballistic shield or at least staple Kevlar to themselves. They plausibly haven't done so yet because they haven't been known to mourn the loss of one, ten, a hundred, or a thousand drones. Only when ballistics become a significant threat (think an entire large scale battle is won by troops utilizing bullet launchers) might they try to figure out a way to reliably counter being shot by a bullet.
In the meantime it's just this or that random drone being blown away by vice admiral who's-his-face.

By Borg standards, balistic weapons are primitive and not worth assimilating. Its like the Ewoks vs the Empire. The Imperials thought the Ewoks weren't a threat because they used pretty much stone age level tech. Well... I think the Ewoks proved them wrong.
Also... there has only been the one example of projectiles being used against the Borg, and that was Picard's Tompson SMG in the Holodeck.
Just read the most recent crafting update and saw you can craft this rifle and all I can say is not cool cryptic/prefect world
This was a Target preorder item, that was nerfed and made useless after lvl 10 and now you make it craftable rather than fix it and available to all.....
This item should only be available to those who bought it as they paid money for it so please rather than add more content fix the old stuff first

I have a shiny and I want it to be upgraded and I want nobody else to have one.
