So basically, you found a bug, and instead of reporting it, you created a vast conspiracy theory where the evil Yellow Peril is trying to take away your game.

That's what any reasonable, rational human being would do in this situation.

Steam has an issue, all games are not downloading the exe. I know this because I tried to install STO, Train Sim 2014 and Psychonauts on my new laptop, missing the exe files that are not missing on this computer. I love how if Steam has an issue everyone blames PWE. Nice job.

It's easy to blame PWE because it's easier to kick up a conspiracy theory than it is to go "Oh, Steam's acting stupid again."
Don worry, im pretty sure it is a temporary TRIBBLE up. Most people hates arc and they dont want to get rid of steam and place arc instead. If they force the players to do that, A LOT of players will stop playing the game, im sure of it , and i will need to think seriously if i am not one of those, even if i dont use steam.
Because that step will mean that definitely these guys dont care at all about their customers. And i dont want to play in a game with such companies behind. But as i said, dont worry im sure it is just temporary.
And it would take this to get you to stop playing sto. I wish I had your tolerance level.
I don't care how big a discount Steam offers on games. I hate Steam and refuse to use it.
I am not going to bother bashing Arc ... as it has been done way better in the original thread when the writing was on the wall about Arc. I will never trust a custom tailored "launch platform" which hogs my bandwidth, opens my system to attack and spams me endlessly with their inferior product.
Wait ... that sounds like Steam ... well I actually like their spam and their selection of game. I also trust them way more than PWE not to abuse said trust!
"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censored, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
Seriously? You had brief issues with STO in Steam and jumped straight to "RARGH **** YOU PWE YOU LYING TRIBBLE!" ? Some people...
You see, that's the thing: some people just hate Arc so horribly bad that the second something happens to "their" way of joining the game - the standalone launcher, Steam, etc -, they automatically assume that PWE has gone against their word, thus close up their wallets, rage quit, tell their friends/fleetmates/whomever and declare STO dead to them.
And, to this day, I STILL don't see what is so bad about Arc that's getting people's underwear in a bunch. Unless Champions Online, Neverwinter and the rest of PWE's game list violated their lives somehow.

turn off auto updates on all your games this my thing i like steam for yes its discounts and its wide variety of games something ARC will never have
So in short PWE ( The Lie Factory ) has lied again
Im still running the old client on my laptop but this thread would explain why i cant play STO via steam on my desktop WHICH i have steam on aswell as STO via steam
You are obviously the one lying, I have been playing STO via Steam every days for years now with no issues.
Anybody know how many cassettes I'd need to install and run Star Trek Online on my Vic20?
Based on most old games of that nature weighing in at about 64kb's compressed, by my guesstimations based on an install size of 10.1gig (my install is anyway), you're looking at (compressed) 75,000 tapes using both sides.

Does that include the patch size after a fresh install?
Does that include the patch size after a fresh install?
Nope, just my current install which is about nine months old, with all the excess chaff and gumph from previous patches. A fresh patched install might save around 250 - 1000 tapes.
Exactly the above. Steam breaks like once a month if not more often with Cryptic's two titles. The Steam Wallet fails to work with the Zen Store, or the game suddenly goes poof, or who knows what exactly.
It happens. It happens very often. And it takes multiple days to fix for whatever reason.
