we're talking about non-organic alloys here, not wood...and it's not even like the kind of weakening you'd get with rust, because you can't get rust in space, but i still wouldn't take this ship into combat like this - i mean, the ship COULD theoretically be fixed by ripping away all the outer plating and replacing it with fresh stuff, but the entire ship would have to be taken apart, and at that point, you might as well just salvage it and get one fresh out of drydock
in fact, i'd recommend it, given the upgrades the andorians have made to their original designs incorporating several of the testbed technologies that delta flight were experimenting with during the war
