Raneson: Yes we are, and always will be, but the need for a military has become quite the call amoung some groups, in fact, I will not be surprised if the new department ends up called the Grand Army of the Federation because it would literally be an actual army once it's formed, just under Starfleet's direction.

Nick: I can see so many things going wrong with that.... next thing you know we're gonna start genetically manipulating our soldiers into unfeeling killers... I have hope it doesn't go that far though...

Henha: It wouldn't go that far because genetic engineering is illegal after what happened in your eugenics wars which you would have seen first hand the likes of Khan.

Raneson: The proposed GAF would basically consist of only enlisted troops, no clones or genetically modified super soldiers due to laws, and we wouldn't need conscripts because of the huge population the Federation holds and that is in the billions. Plus, there will be contingency orders and regulations meant to keep the army from being used for the wrong reasons, such as say targeting the members of a religious group - I'm looking at you Galactic Empire - so you shouldn't have much to worry about.

(i think they relaxed the ban on genetic engineering slightly in cryptic's universe, because that's exactly what gene resequencers are)

(Pretty sure the federation would be at the quadrillions in terms of population)

Henha: Henha I mean the Klingon Empire is much more war like and you don't see us using genetic engineering either. Though, I think that has something to do with that disease they accidentally made.

*Jack comes and hugs Rose along with Amanda*

(Also I don't think Gene resequencers or traits are even remotely part of the story. As there's no reason stprywise that a ship couldn't do all types of abilities to an extent.)

Raneson: And I will respect it, though it seems the majority according to a poll on it are pro-army, but have said they won't go and change that law, if they did, there would have been a lot of riots and uprisings, there is already a movement that is wanting to implement the genetic modification ban and anti-cloning laws into the Constitution of the Federation.

Raneson: It's unoriginal. There's already huge debates on what the name should be and have opened suggestions from everyone from any coalition or nation on it. My suggestion was Starfleet Defense Corps.

Nick: Who was surveyed? You think species like the Denobulans that had been practicing genetic engineering with positive results before joining the federation would be trying to get it legalized...

Raneson: Everyone in the Federation. The Denobulans, despite their successes in that field aren't stupid. They know the danger, in fact, I think they support that law to the fullest, there are a couple of hard liners that want it legalized, but are ignored. The constant wars has people scared, which explains why the majority are wanting an army, they want to feel protected, and I don't blame them.

Raneson: That's fine. *Looks at Chrono* there's actually supposed to be an announcement on the final decided name and then a vote in the Joint Chiefs and the SOC to decide if it should be formed or not soon. If the vote is yes in the majority, expect all the Operations Trooper Units to be transferred to the new military arm with new ranks, and the Operations Trooper Command dissolved. They haven't decided on a leader for the army yet, but Admirals Tuvok, Riker, Quinn and the O'Connells have already been eliminated as options, including myself, the remaining options are you *Points at Krys* and some other Admiral, but that Admiral is about to announce his retirement according to scuttlebutt. Which means you might end up on the Joint Chiefs, but are aware you'd rather command from this ship, and that is boosted by the fact you are a Starship Admiral anyway.

Raneson: You might not have a choice, it's not even my call - considering they won't randomly promote someone to the position, and besides you being preferent to command a small task force is a good thing - you won't end up abusing your possible new position if the army is created.

Raneson: You won't get stuck behind a desk considering they'll still let you command this ship even if you make it onto the Joint Chiefs as General of the army. Hell, I'm a Fleet Admiral and a member of the Joint Chiefs myself and I'm still commanding my own ship. *Checks Chrono* They're about to make the announcement, we better watch to see what they've decided on for a name.
