I'm sure this has been complained about elsewhere, but let me reiterate: I really, really prefer the previous system, where one could choose a reward 'flavor' (Omega marks, Nukara marks, etc.) LATER (when opening the marks box) rather than NOW.
I understand that choosing NOW introduces systemic inefficiencies that benefit STO/PWE, (eg, choosing the wrong flavor means you have to do 'it' again, whatever the 'it' activity was) but is there any other reason why can't it be as it was previously?
I agree. Also meant you could store them up until marks bonus event then open them for even more boosts.
A really low one. When they first launched it, it was low reward back then. Now it's a weekend thing, the 50% boost just makes it on par with other normal queued events.
It's quick and too easy to do really. No Elite option either means extra boredom.
Just have 1-2 guys AoE incoming, the rest can sit at gate pressing F to make the gate shut down quicker and get it over and done with sooner.
For 48 marks with 2.5 bonus and the 50% weekend boost and no dilithium, I'll leave the Elachi for some other captain to deal with.
double or more of the marks and at least 480 dil with a doubling of spawn rate and possibly hull points of the Elachi ships. I'd be all over this mission and event. It's a decent mission design, it's just not challenging enough. I'm no minmaxer or super pro at this game but my sci guy in a vesta is enough to CC the Elachi to death. And, my GW3 has time to get off CD before the next wave.
The original payout for this queue was 32 max. Who thought that people would run this mission more than once or twice with that low of a reward? For me, it's a problem with a lot of the less played content. While much of it is good and fun, the rewards take away your sense of victory. Imagine winning the Indy 500 and only receiving a 2 inch plastic trophy and no other winnings. That would make you think twice about running it again, wouldn't it?
How the heck did you get that many marks? The standard pack is spitting out 47 to 48. I am not planning on running it any more with such TRIBBLE rewards.
Marks booster from starbase.
It seems to be 64 with that, dunno how I once got 104, probably some left over from another assignment.
I did find the rewards for this event rather underwhelming for something that's time gated, probably run it to get my Elachi ship kills but even then...
Don't get me wrong I do enjoy the mission, but it just isn't striking me as anything special or challenging enough to warrant playing it a whole lot. This mission should have been left in the queues as a Romulan rep marks mission.
Ten soldiers wisely led will beat a hundred without a head. - Euripides
I no longer do any Bug Hunting work for Cryptic. I may resume if a serious attempt to fix the game is made.
This really should've been a regular space queue for NR rep, it's far too meat and potatoes for a weekend event.
Also, what's that green ship in the screenshot? Put that in a lockbox, it's gorgeous.
That's... an Elachi ship, and it isn't actually bright green like that (I think it's using its Hazard Emitters or something) but I can't identify the class. The Foundry calls it the "Elachi Battleship," I think, but the Monbosh is their battleship, so...
Is this a joke? Red Alert? This isn't worthy of the title. There is nothing hard about this. The "Invasion" is puny and not much of a fight. And its a time gated protection mission? I expected more. Honestly I was excited when I saw this on the calender because I missed it when it originally was on, I shouldn't have left my chair on Risa. More over I expected this to be like other red alert's randomly popping up, not some PvE qeuee mission I can do whenever. Now RA's generally dont pay out well on marks, this I know, but 43 marks for a 2.5 bonus is insulting. It was a complete waste of time. If your looking for marks go do a fleet alert so a easy mission of the type your looking for, they pay baetter and are far more interesting. Normally I wont rant like this about a new event but this is truely worth ranting about.
I didnt even knew it existed, then again apparently everything in STO is "fan favorite" ... yes, I know, marketing talk and all that but just because I know doesnt mean I have to like it.
Still ... I dont really think this changes anything really, STO just became apathy to me ... same old, same old with anything new put under a soul crushing grind were I have no motivation to even care anymore.
I found this mission useful to run only because it's so quick. Quick to pop and quick to do. The rewards need to be increased to make it a desirable run.
Except I clearly see two ships letting loose on those cubes in a lot of places, and have no idea what happened when it skipped ahead a bit every now and then. :P
A test server is supposed to be used to properly test patches before patching anything....
It was only a "fan favorite" because it was the easiest thing to spam to get Romulan marks ... but all that says is how tedious it is to get Romulan marks rather than being any reflection on the quality of the mission.
The rewards not only take the optional condition into account, but also the amount of crew alive on the science vessels after the gate is shut down.
So in other words - if you and/or your team suck, then you're to blame.
Overall, not only is the mission boring, but also players don't really pay much attention to what's happening around. Most of them just fly into the center of the gate to shoot stuff, pay no attention to the Harvesters that pass them, and never bother to help disabling the gate.
Not even half as fun as the Shuttle Fleet Alert was.

The 2nd ship is Houston, an NPC. It blows up after the 1st stage of the mission.
Bat timing for this to do it the same time as the doff pack promo. I'm too busy farming dil and ec to get more packs then to bother with this. Haven't tried it once this time and won't get around to it probably.
I am in no need of rommy marks right now (or ever since the gear is not worth the time) so there is no reason to play the elachi event. Even with the bonus, there are better ways to get the other marks.

except its a choice of each type of mark....not just NR.
Yeah, I'm doing the Elachi Alert to get the Romulan Marks since it's still more entertaining that tagging and reliable than egg hunting. Still, the base rewards aren't all that great, and the timer on this one as opposed to the farming potential of the small craft event... it leaves this one somewhat lackluster by comparison. It's faster than the Tau Dewa Patrol, though, so there is that.
With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.
This requires me to get out of my beach chair, doesn't it? Not sure I can muster that right now.
I'm very jealous.
We just had our second child a few months ago, so vacations, time off, relaxation, is out of the question right now.
I'd kill for just a fruity drink with an umbrella in it, I'd just close my eyes and pretend I was somewhere exotic.
As Wanda Sykes would say: "Kids, they're a lot work, but they're worth it........."
Anyway, back to the topic:
I enjoy the added variety that this mission brings to the table. I also enjoy the choice of rewards.
I'd like to see this mission become permanent, again, if only for previous stated reasons.
The very first event i entered with my brand spanking new scimitar. Ten mins in i die and im like
WTF (what the fluff) as this is supposed to be the most op ship in the game.
I did it a few times. Just remember the timer running out a lot of times.
Other than that, i didnt bother with it.
Whether you think you are right or wrong, either way you are RIGHT.
Nothing for Picard Day! Something could have been incorporated like dropping by Utopia Planitia to claim a Constellation Retrofit with a Picard Maneuver console to help fight the Elachi.

Thanks for bringing this PvE back even it was just for a weekend event. Only got to play it it twice and still would prefer that it was a mainstay in the PvE queues but happy to see it again none the less! Looking forward to it coming around again

...... any chance we can get the shuttle event back soon. :P

15 fleet marks on the other.
Never again.
Utter waste of time.

I'm glad it was for a limited run so I can look forward to it's return.
Well done Cryptic!
It's one of my favorite PVE missions.
