So for those that haven't already seen the repeatable pvp missions are being put on a 20 hour cooldown. Now I will try to express my thoughts on this without resulting to profanity despite wanting to scream at cryptic several iterations of the f word in severL languages.
While cryptic insists they know pvp has been neglected and "they will address it" or now they "hope to address it" on the other hand they reduce the little incentive for people to actually partake of it.
There were several threats not long ago proposing how rewards for pvp needed to be increased to bring new people in due to the fact that having 3 pvp matches which can last anywhere between 15 minutes to hours was not a cost effective way to grind dil and no marks are given. However because some farmers use quick pvp matches to get dil cryptic decides to do the opposite the community is asking and nerfs the rewards to a pathetic level. Instead of doing something that would address the farming (like adding a one hour cooldown as has been suggested in another post). They completely eliminate any incentive to pvp at this point. This fix is like using a cannon to kill a mosquito.
I guess pvp is not grind enough and we all must now be better grinders to fit into cryptic's idea of this game.

Nothing is impossible to him who would try.... except getting cryptic to care about pvp.
So the already carp reward is going to made worse?
Well done cryptic, well done.
Now there is utterly no point to PvP.
It's not like its fun or based on skill anymore.
Really, I just hope this game dies and everyone gets their money back.
Frankly, cryptic hasn't delivered.
The only thing that keeps me logging in the twice a month for an hour or so is either sheer boredom or to visit my fleet. Other than that, the game is an utter utter yawnfest and getting worse.
It was enough to keep you fed for the day doing what you were going to be doing anyway...now a lot more are going to simply be too busy to actually engage in reward-less PvP as production quotas still have to be met.
and they think this will even slow down private ground match dil exploiters, it is to laugh. they will just make MORE characters, and be able to refine more in the long run, wile we who pvp for fun stop getting our meager reward about half way through our play time.
your only going to stop this ground exploit by forfeiting reward credit for PRIVATE matches. this is what they are exploiting from, they cant do it through the ques. the PRIVATE match exponent is what the exploit revolves around, that is what you need to eliminate from the equation
I agree that the PvP has suffered some serious neglect. Cryptic may have been keeping the game mechanics within PvP-able perimeters (almost), but I think the list of maps says it all.
Very true dont remove private que rewards completely... its not going to stop premades from arranging matches. No one does that for the reward. It will stop the exploit behavior.
Sometimes I've read patch notes and reacted prematurely to some unfair move devs were going to take to later find out it's not what I thought it was going to be. I think it's a good idea to read the patch notes first. I hope someone gives us a link soon for proof.
I hope this rumor isn't true though. That would be excessively punishing to us serious PvPers. Remember, this is all because of TRIBBLE exploit a few people partake in (notably pvers in private matches). It's true that PvP rewards were not enticing but compared to having them locked out for 20 hours... That's just harsh man. Consider us folks that pvp for 6 hours straight on a good weekend.
Please stop for a second and don't do anything rash.
Uh...read the patch notes for Tribble marked as May 30th.
It's actually in there, and I won't even type what I said outloud when I read that part myself.

We will be bringing down the Tribble server for maintenance to apply a new update: ST.40.20140525a.2
All repeatable PVP missions for Fed and Klg (arena and scenario) are now set to a 20 hour cooldown.
The rest of my reply is directed to the PvP community in general. This patch now effectively makes all repeatable PvP reward missions unrepeatable for 20 hours after completion once. The reason for this change is obvious. Cryptic is attempting to kill off this problem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pLQSc9MbKo
The people to blame are those that sit around in the center of the map of Deep Space K7 and near the exchange on Deep Space Nine without personal shield generators. The players doing this will also typically spam players on Deep Space K7 with invites to their shady ingame chat channel set up for organized abuse of the private Ground PvP queues for dilithium rewards.
These players will start up 15 kill count ground matches on the Ghost Ship map and one player will farm the entire opposing team in about a minute. They leave the map, start a new private queue, and repeat the process. They farm up to 8,000 dilithium and then they switch characters...rinse and repeat.
Unfortunately this won't solve the problem at all. These exploiters will merely switch characters to continue the abuse on alts...or alt accounts. Cryptic should really just pass out bans to all of the people actively doing this right now as an incentive to stop this abuse. It shouldn't be hard to go to DSK7 and DS9 with a ban hammer.
A better longterm solution would be to implement a minimum match length timer. This timer would only grant credit toward the wrapper if the mission is a certain length of time. This timer would ideally be 10 minutes for Arena and 15 minutes for Assault/Capture and Hold. Secondly, individual players wouldn't receive credit for the mission's completion if they don't meet minimum requirements.
Example Vice Admiral PvP Individual Player Credit Requirements:
Space Arena
At least 350,000 damage + healing total
(if possible) At least 25 ability activations while under red alert
(if possible) Activation of Reroute Power to Shields, EPS Power Transfer, Subnuke Beam, Sensor Scan, Attack Pattern Alpha, or Fire on my Mark at least three times within the match
(if possible) At least 20 weapon cycle activations
(if died at least once) At least 20,000 shield damage dealt to player
Space Capture and Hold
At least 150,000 damage + healing total
(if possible) At least 25 ability activations while under red alert
(if possible) Activation of Reroute Power to Shields, EPS Power Transfer, Subnuke Beam, Sensor Scan, Attack Pattern Alpha, or Fire on my Mark at least once within the match
(if possible) Presence at a capture point for at least 60 seconds
(if possible) At least 20 weapon cycle activations
Ground Arena
At least 5,000 damage + healing total
(if possible) At least 25 ability activations
(if possible) Activation of Target Optics, Tricorder Scan, or Reroute Power to Shields at least twice within the match.
(if possible) At least 30 shots fired within the match.
(if died at least once) At least 1,000 shield damage dealt to player
Ground Assault
At least 3,500 damage + healing total OR 5 virus runs (mainframe or defense post)
(if possible) At least 25 ability activations
(if possible) Activation of Target Optics, Tricorder Scan, or Reroute Power to Shields at least twice within the match.
(if possible) At least 30 shots fired within the match.
Players playing PvP normally wouldn't notice them at all, but it would impact the farmers. They would need to intentionally focus their efforts on NOT actually PvPing while using the PvP wrapper in order to farm in their normal manner. It would make using the wrappers for exploitation more trouble than they are worth. Also making sure each one of their characters had met the requirements for credit would create quite the task. It would be light years simpler to just to PvP it out for credit. Thoughts on the example requirements?
350000+heal?
Um a little high.
I've been in matches where the highest damage has been 240k and heals of les than 10k all because the other team were not very good.
What about a sci healer that isn't really required?
Or a new player who's struggling on damage output?
Or a vaper?
I've found vapers tend to have lower overall damage figures on the scoreboard because its so fast, directed and very much to the hull meaning for some ships 48k in one go is a kill.
Unless its a combined team effort score.
Even then, a team of new guys in the queues can still struggle.

350,000 combining your total damage with your total healing. I don't find it high considering a single non-vaper player can deal 280,000 damage within 10 seconds.
Unreal. Why not ban the exploiters? Oh right too much effort. So let's just ham-fistedly punish the few folks who do pop in this game for the challenge. Disgusting.
350,000 combining your total damage with your total healing. I don't find it high considering a single non-vaper player can deal 280,000 damage within 10 seconds.
I've seen plenty of sci ships who specialise in heals only have a fat 0 for damage and low heals because it wasn't required.
Also seen a fair few times a match last 3 minutes with low damage and heals across the board because the enemies were squishy.
Not exactly inviting to new players who can't reach those levels yet.
You must be basing your assumptions off of a DEM FAW boat.
Oh...joy. Because what PvP needed was a GIANT nerf to the dil that we could get, purely because of people abusing it.
Can I say this?
PvEers got something in PvP NERFED this time!
Or damned if it feels that way.
*shakes my head* This won't change anything. They can afford to just make more characters, more accounts. Won't hurt the people abusing this at all, and only hurts those legitimately playing and such instead.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.
Yet you will all still pay and play, then wonder why nowt changes.
Because you all still give them money.
They don't give a rats bum about its players or the franchise, it's all about the bucks they line their pockets with.

I am hopeful... I would suggest however seriously not letting your hopes exceed what is possible for him to pull off.
PVP IS MY ONLY RELIABLE(lol) SOURCE OF DIL AND FM'S..............
I DO NOTHIG IN HERE BUT PVP (except for some grind... hard being a collector)...
THE REWARDS ARE ALREADY WAY TOO LOW FOR THE TIME A SERIOUS PLAYER PUTS IN (like what: 1440 dil in 1,5 hours?! lol.... dil= time, eh?)
stupid stays stupid i guess :mad::mad:
get ur things sorted right cryptic! many ones told u many times! too many good players already left cause of all the pvp-related stupidity dev-side! BAAAAAAH... really...... (gonna stop here before i get banned...)...
Now i feel like a moron for planning of pvping for the 1st time ....
So, i should gear up and everything to just play for... how much? 1 hour?
And i don't even want to get into the " fix the over 9000 bugs before nerfing something " although a vet friend of mine told me that a lot of players have left the game since the times of LoR ...
Anyway, back to the topic, i have a win-win solution for you :
Why not to just increase the dil/ fleet mark ratio , which would be the fair thing to do by the way ...
People will be more likely to pour their dil into fleet holdings to buy elite gear and less likely to " steal " you money, Cryptic
That's only making PvP even more inferior, comparing to all that PvE Stuff that gets added. Now i have to play even more PvE in this game to get my dil? You know that the incentive for new players to play pvp is already low and now you're nerfing it even more? Why not putting STF's on a longer Cooldown? Just makes me sad.
I dont support this move by cryptic at all.............if your going to put 20 hour timers on pvp then you need to raise the reward so the Pvpers can make there Dilithium cap doing what they like to do
........................PvP..................
Increase the rewards and missions so a PvPer can reach his or her Dil cap doing pvp
Jellico....Engineer ground.....Da'val Romulan space Sci
Saphire.. Science ground......Ko'el Romulan space Tac
Leva........Tactical ground.....Koj Romulan space Eng
JJ-Verse will never be Canon or considered Lore...It will always be JJ-Verse
... u know u want it :P:rolleyes:... though lately they've been kinda "careful" (not to read as sensible!) to drop anything on that topic, so it may merely would justify a new thread... or just even more
On one hand this would have the effect of removing all non-pvpers from pvp, and on the other hand their solution is so drastic it's funny.
PROBLEM: people are using private challenges to set up 10v10 ground pvp matches where one side lets themselves to be killed. repeat 3 times for 1440 dil.
SOLUTION: is NOT to make all PvP games to give 1440 dil for 3 games per 20h. FFS.
Anyway, only ppl that cannot play PvE or PvP use such things.
Dyson BZ, STFs are still way, way faster to get dil anyway.
srsly wtf.

edit: ngh forum pvp for me today. not good for my stomach, laters ...
Fun fact: Many people doing prearranged ground kill farming, do it for accolades. With the ground queues being what they are its not really feasible to go there and kill/get killed often enough just for the accolades.
Doing it in private matches without shields, doesn't pollute the queues with afk'ers so its a win win. Dilithium isn't even the driving force for some part of the already small subset of farmers. Makes punishing all pvp'ers even worse.

Interesting. Not knowing about any of this junk myself. I find that interesting fact very sad.
This is an expected change though. Cryptic has already done the work on adding 20hr timers. Its one of the few things they can do in the code that they know they can't mess up. lol
Then again they don't really care about making things unplayable... *cough* loadout junk that has forced me to stop playing half my toons. (should take it as a sign to move on like so many others... ) Anyway. Yes what a hamfisted pure lazy fix.... finding out that it doesn't even "fix" the practice anyway... ya what can you say.
Remove rewards (include acolades as well... so they can blame us for nerfing there pve some more) from privates... issue fixed, and people can go earn there D and there Accolades by in fact earning them.
I know some people assume the ques would fill up with farmers if private rewards where removed. I really honestly think there is no way that would happen. There are so many easy ways to earn D I mean who isn't sitting on thousands of unrefinded D on multiple toons these days. Really dino tagging for 30 min will earn you 10x the D (as in you'll be done for 5 days) as throwing PvP matches in the que will net in the same amount of time.
