Background and Introduction
In my foundry mission,
Of Morals and Ethics, I created a sad, dark world where the timeline was wrecked by disaster. I created the sequel missions to do more with it, but I thought it would be more fun to explore it with other people.
This RP thread takes place after the end of OMaE, and for the sake of not messing with the following missions, it is a unique and divergent timeline of its own. All conditions that existed as presented in OMaE stand as 'thread canon', but beyond that it's all up to imagination and wherever the story goes.
This means that the only pre-requisite to joining in is playing Of Morals and Ethics itself. Now, you can play the accompanying sequels if you want, but only events up to the mission's end are canonical.
I'm not creating this to get plays for my mission - I'm creating it to have fun in a unique environment. If you don't care for it, it's all good.
Some RP general guidelines
There are several different styles of RP, only two of which I can think of right now.
"There is standard literary form," which is the same as any book has, "But it does however have the limitation of sometimes seeming slow when it comes to scenes that are fast."
*Switches modes*
OOC: There is also story script style, which I use.
Voporak: The advantage of this form is that dialogue and action are clearly separated and can be easily followed.
OOC: Dialogue can flow much quicker with this, *kicks Voporak out of the conversation* though it can be hard sometimes to intermix descriptions in without constantly interrupting with *<action>*.
*Walks out*
I use story script style, as I find it appears very clean and easy to follow along. If you use it, make sure to put a space between every separate line of dialogue and action.
When RPing, play it fun, don't mess with/kill off other people's characters without permission, don't make yourself overpowered, etc. Just keep it cool. Speaking of overpowered...
Beyond this point are potential spoilers to Of Morals and Ethics.Thread rules
Overpoweredness. I don't like it in plain old RP, but especially in this timeline it doesn't exist and won't be allowed. What do I mean? No super powerful weapons that can blow up ships like toothpicks, no warp 27 engines, you get the point. Obviously plot armor - as in, the main characters and ships always get an advantage in surviving - can exist, but only to a point. This is a dimension where everyone is equal and everyone is struggling to survive. No warping in fleets of random ships and blowing the hell out of something. If you need advice or further explanation on this, just ask!
Fighting. Something I really hate is how my favorite RP threads get bogged down in useless war and battle, so that it's constant and unending. By the very nature of the timeline, fighting is common. That's okay. But what I mean about this is that I don't want constant wars of factions where like, alright we fight and fight and fight for no point really, then move on to the next war of the week. Skrimishes: Okay. Random, sudden all-out war: Not okay.
Established canon. As mentioned before, everything presented in OMaE is thread canon. From there, the sky is usually the limit. If you have a question on timeline canon, just ask! I do recommend playing Of Terror and Darkness if you are curious on this more, because it explains a lot of backstory.
Voporak. He, the character, my character is the first, last, and only exception to the rules. You know from playing the mission that he is the terror of the universe. The Black Phantom's growth in RP comes from the thread named 'rp'. It is in fact quite overpowered, laughably so by comparison (again, playing OTaD helps explains this a lot more). It has an undetectable cloak, antiproton weapons (with a special extra weapon type just in case), and the ability to jump around time and space at will. Voporak may very well pick a fight and/or kill on a whim, which brings us to the topic of...
Don't get too attached to a character. This is a world of fear, survival, and death. As sadistic as it sounds, I actually kinda hope characters die off. It makes it more realistic and also makes you realize how much of unique snowflake your main characters are not. Okay sorry if that came off harsh, what I'm getting at is I want it to be realistic. So that's why I only want plot armor to exist to a point. If you don't quite understand this, I have tricks up my sleeve to help you figure it out.
Inter-player fighting. It's somewhat hard to have a fight between two people. Both sides obviously want the upper hand. If you get into this situation, I suggest planning it out with the other person if you want the outcome predetermined, or if it should just flow. If the latter, leave a chance for the other person to defend when making an attack. Both sides should try to balance successes and defeats in the fight so it's realistic and fair.
So finally...
Death of your main/minor character(s). Deal with it. In this timeline, [poopy] happens. If your character(s) or ship(s) die, just make a new one! There are tons of new opportunities and new stories to tell. Though if a main character dies, make it a worthwhile sendoff please, especially for long-lived (relatively speaking) characters!
Of course, sometimes a death may just be random and that's what will hopefully fuel the atmosphere of darkness.
Oh, we need a name for this timeline. Let's call it The Fallout, due to the temporal "fallout." It is at this point set 11 months since Voporak's Disaster, which was in July of 2409.
*June 1st, 2410, The Fallout. Under cloak, the U.S.S. Black Phantom slips away from the wreckage of DS9...*
I ask nothing but that you remember me.

"On the distant planet of Cait, M'Sarabi and Kovu Scar, the siblings of the now dead "Preacher" Taka, had just received news of their brother's death at the hands of mercenaries hired by an unknown federation captain."
*Looks over at talkers in theater* Shhh! The movies 'bout to start!

You're In His World Now
A Black Phantom prodution
*On the run down Treasure Trading Station, a man sits at the bar, staring uselessly at his drink*
Garlianto: If it's the drink you don't like, blame Korf.
*Korf ignores him and reads over his PADD intensely*
Garlianto: So is everyone going to ignore me today and just stare at stuff?
Korf: It's not that, you idiot.
*He slides the PADD down to Garlianto, who picks it up and reads it*
Garlianto: Our very own Preacher, dead? That's a shame.
Man: I kinda liked him...
Korf: You really are that stupid.
*Korf grabs the PADD and points at the large text*
Korf: The Mechanic Coalition is dead!
Garlianto: And?
Korf: And that means Voporak is king undisputed.
Garlianto: Why?
Man: Because he can now strike anywhere, anytime without resistance. I know what he can do! Well, actually I don't think he's really as bad as I remember.
Garlianto: And who are you to know?
Man: I'm Triglax. I have- *he pauses* I've simply been watching him.
Garlianto: Uh huh. Well, when his threat shows up here, let me know.
Korf: He was here two days ago.
Garlianto: Really? I never pay attention to anyone who doesn't buy something.
Triglax: So, what exactly did Voporak do?
Korf: He hired a Starfleet officer from another dimension lost here to help him dispatch poor Preacher. Then he flung that officer back into his own timeline.
*At the mention of temporal travel, Triglax becomes uneasy*
Triglax: Excuse me.
*Triglax gets up and immediately walks to the transporter room*
Garlianto: Hey, you've got to pay for that drink!
*As the Ferengi is about to recycle the Romulan Ale into the replicator, Korf takes the glass and downs it, just to annoy Garlianto*
Garlianto: I hate you.
*Triglax beams himself back to his ship, a somewhat functional Intrepid class of which he is the only remaining crew member*
Triglax: Computer, unlock controls authorization Captain V. Triglax.
Computer: Authorization confirmed.
Triglax *thinking to himself*: Safety in numbers. I have friends on Cait. *Speaking* Set course for Cait, warp 7. Engage.
*The U.S.S. Dawn's Light jumps to warp*
*U.S.S. Black Phantom, bridge*
Dr. F. Atrat (Reman science officer): I need a test subject for the procedure.
Voporak: And I've got just the person. A nice little Caitian, the brother of Taka. He'll do nicely for your experiment.
Atrat: Thank you.
Voporak: Set course for Cait, warp 9. Engage.
*The U.S.S. Black Phantom jumps to warp, cloaked.*
M'Sarabi: "Kovu, he's gone...Voporak finally got to him..What will we do now? He will come for us surely.
Kovu: "Taka and I had constructed a safe place to hide in the event one of us should ever be killed. It has enough provisions to last us for quite a while. Our hope was if we stayed there long enough, this would blow over and Voporak would forget about us. We must go there now, it is in the forest nearby."
*The two packed up what supplies they could carry and departed their home*
Triglax: Oh no...
*He sees that the structure is completely undamaged and only shows signs of being simply abandoned*
Hm...
*As he explores the empty house, he hears an ominous noise: the sound of another ship landing. The lighting from the windows disappears as the sun is blocked out, and the ground shakes as metallic feet put down on the surface. Triglax hides behind crates of slightly radioactive samples, just enough to block tricorder scans.*
Voice of a Jem'hadar: Search this place.
*Triglax can hear several people move away from the front door, throughout the building. All is quiet momentarily. As Triglax is about to sneak out and make a run for his own ship, he hears the slow, solitary footsteps of a Starfleet-issue uniform shoe on the hard floor. They pace around, accompanied only by the beep of a tricorder. Triglax dares to take one quick look around the edge of the crates and sees Voporak looking at the tricorder.
Mustering up his courage and taking a deep breath, Triglax rises up from his spot and silently steps out from behind the pile, knowing that he will be detected in moments. He walks up to Voporak, who turns around at the beep of a new reading on the tricorder. Triglax punches him across the face and makes a mad dash for the front door, looking back and pausing only once to see Voporak about to vaporize him. But seeing Triglax, Voporak does not shoot, allowing him to escape. Omet'etan, the Jem'hadar, almost runs past him to chase Triglax.*
Voporak: Wait. He can live.
Omet'etan: Sir?
Voporak *holstering his pistol*: I guess you could say that I know him.
*Triglax runs, never stopping, towards the Dawn's Light. Once at the ship, he stops and looks back. The home has been vacated, with the Phantom hovering above it. Knowing what comes next, he re-enters the Intrepid class.*
Triglax: I'll give them two minutes before I get the heck out of Dodge. If they're here, they know how to contact me.
*Meanwhile on an unknown station a man begins to stir. Such a powerful man at one time he now feels far more insignificant as he awakens from a deep slumber.*
???: Damn. Where am I now?
*As he Looks around the room he realizes he is in a rather beat up room. All he sees is a door, a mirror, and the bed he is now sitting on. The walls are polished metal with black paint on them that appears to be pealing as if whoever built the room never intended to fix it up. The man decides to stand up and take a closer look at the door but as he rises he deals a great pain in his head and immediately stumbles to the ground.*
???:Ugghhh...What the hell happened?
*As he gets to his feet he decides to go look in the mirror.Once he looks into he cringes with a small amount of horror.*
???:No! *He takes a step back*
What did they do to me?!?!
*In the mirror he has noticed that cybernetic implants reminiscent of the Borg cover the right half of his face and his eye are a reflective black. His skin is pale and black veins show on it as if he was gravely ill. As he is taken aback he realizes he can't remember how he got there his past or even his name*
???:Well this can't be good. Well regardless of what's going on I need to find a way out of here.
* As he goes to the door he notices that there are letters spelling "Karn" painted in some dark red painted on the door. He contemplates "Karn" as he notices that there doesn't appear to be a way to open the door on this side.*
???: Damn it. Well it was worth a shot. I guess all I can do is wait.
*He goes back and sits on the bed and contemplates his situation trying hard to remember. He remembers information such as technology and some history as he realizes his basic knowledge is intact its only his memories that are lost.*
OOC: Regardless of whether you fit in freeing ??? To some of your current story he will escape his current situation.
"Triglax, please respond."
Triglax: Where are you? Voporak's about to torpedo your house, and we have to get out of here.
We will be safe from the blast, we are in an underground shelter Taka and I had built in the event of this.
I need you to do me a favor. Beam M'Sarabi out of here and get her to safety.
I have to stay behind and make sure that anything Voporak may find useful in here is discarded.
Triglax: Got it.
*He quickly locates Sarabi and beams her onto the ship*
Kovu... be safe.
*The Dawn's Light lifts off and flees Cait, as the Black Phantom fires a quantum torpedo, obliterating the home*
Omet'etan: He is escaping!
Voporak: Let him leave. We're not after him. Besides, he showed us right where we need to go.
*The Phantom slowly moves over the ground, shearing it away with an antiproton beam to find Kovu*
*The beam reaches the safehouse, exploding the roof and revealing Kovu*
Voporak: Ah, there he is.
*He motions with his hand and Kovu is transported onboard, inside a containment field*
Let's go.
*The Phantom ascends, and flies close by the Dawn's Light, so that Sarabi can see it pass them through a window. The ship cloaks and is gone.*
M'Sarabi: No.. Kovu!
*Meanwhile, Kovu finds himself in the containtment field*
*Voporak steps up to the cell, hands folded behind his back.*
Voporak: Well hello there, Kovu. I take it you got word of your brother's death? Quite unfortunate really.
'Should have known you were too big of a coward to get your own hands dirty.."
Not a coward, my good friend. Just very wise. It's very bad rep to be a murderer. *He pulls up a chair and sits down* I would also like to inform you that M'Sarabi is no longer with us. I destroyed that ship on my way out. *Dr. Atrat walks over with a vile of green liquid* Now if you don't mind, your cooperation would be most appreciated.
OOC: Dunno what this is but it looks cool.
*Kovu eyed the green liquid nervously but maintained his composure*
"And you think I would believe your insidious lies, Voporak?"
Lies? Come now Kovu, that is a harsh word. When have I ever been known to let someone escape with their life?
*Dr. Atrat loads the vile into a hypodermic needle*
*Kovu edged slightly back into the wall of the containment cell*
*Voporak steps forward*
And what do you know of him?
*Atrat puts the needle in a machine, which brings it inside the cell*
Atrat: You can keep chatting, don't worry about this thing.
Voporak: The pain and woe will be over soon, Kovu.
*Kovu found himself against the wall and unable to get any farther away from the needle*
*Another containment field holds Kovu in place. The mechanical arm begins injecting Kovu with the green liquid.*
Voporak: See? Doesn't hurt at all.
Give it up, Kovu. All your friends and family are dead, you are the last one.
"Why are you doing this to me?"
Voporak *shrugging casually*: Sadism, for one, but mainly so I can test out a process of creating my own loyal army.
"Army.....? ...What are you doing to me?"
Doctor?
Atrat: Well you see, you've been injected with Elachi DNA. This stuff is like a virus, but much cooler. Instead of just hijacking your cells to reproduce viral DNA, it is actually replacing your own DNA with Elachi. Assuming all goes well, you'll be a healthy Elachi in a few hours. Don't worry though, you'll still have a free mind.
Voporak: For the time being, anyway.
"No...I am Caitian...you cannot just change people into those monsters...It is not possible.."
Oh, totally possible. In fact, I even got you a pet Epohh as a present.
*A little green epohh is released into the cell*
Happy Transformation Day. You'll be unconscious in a few minutes.
*Voporak exits the room*
