    Well, some lucky and rich fan just picked up the ultimate geek reward. Also, this project now has the second highest number of backers in Kickstarter history and is in striking distance of Veronica Mars. And has surged to over 4.2 million not counting matching funds, in a very short time. Impressive!

    Awwww... :-)

    All of the Kickstarter projects above Reading Rainbow in finances raised or backers raised have stepped forward to help the RR project--including the Veronica Mars community, which knows that this project is likely to take down its #1 number of backers start. How selfless, to help out and knowingly give up that record (most likely), for something as important as helping kids learn to read and enjoy it--and get this free into more underprivileged classrooms where it is needed the most.

    It's great to see all of these prominent groups and celebrities coming forward to join in on this. Here's hoping that the total will pass the $5 million goal.

    So we're inside 24 hours, and now the nuBsG cast is helping--and $5 million on Kickstarter, which will become $6 million with Seth MacFarlane's matching, is looking more and more like reality. And to top it off, the project is within striking distance of exceeding 100000 backers...unprecedented in Kickstarter history!

    If you haven't had a chance to take a look at this, it doesn't matter if you just have $1 or $5 (minimum level to get backer updates): every little bit helps, and every bit between $4 and $5 million will be doubled by Mr. MacFarlane. :-)

    $5 million achievement unlocked!

    We need to keep pushiing though, because a lot of times in Kickstarters some of the people with really big pledges back out right near the end.

    And project closed at $5408916 and 105857 backers on Kickstarter, plus $1 million in additional funding direct to the project, courtesy of Seth MacFarlane! Final numbers will likely be confirmed soon.
