Since he didn't get that he pouted and left for Star Wars.
Cant remember where I found the article but I read one where he wanted ALL of Star Trek , TOS, TNG, DS9, Voy Enterprise, and movies pulled so that all that was out there was His vision.
And since his vision included a game that means if he had gotten his way then STO would have gone poof as well.
For this I am thanking the guys at CBS and Paramount for telling him, (and this is my answer to the op as well.) NO!

And if it's true it feels...well spiteful and also kinda insecure and perhaps even somewhat egocentric if he can't tolerate that there's more 'Trek out there than "his".

No need to thank anyone, they were never going to let him pull that one out. All that stuff is what keeps Star Trek allive and brings the fans together for conventions etc. It's also memorabilia that sells, there are people buying merchandise from all those shows and movies.
The sole idea (if true) is insane in the root, the guy has delusions of grandeour.
The only reason I started playing this game in the first place was because it was Star Trek. When I do something with Star Trek involved, I only want Star Trek in it, not JJTrek.

You're talking about STO???
because adding Nu Trek to the game will do what??? make it MOAR pew pew then it already is????
Hay Guys I think for the next Star trek Game based on the new Movie franchise it should be a crossover with Star Trek Online
Well I don't... Luckily I'm not alone on that one.
the first original game was afule there was glitches and controls were just aquered to use.
Good reason. Because one game sucks it's franchise should totally crossover with an unrelated other game.
Why not crossing over with the old republic
The reason why I think it would be better to do a crossover storyline with the new franchise it will be a better game.
How should it do that? It's completely different time, and depending on opinion another universe or another timeline that erased ours. How would that be "a better game"?
second it would be better because we can have more starships from the new movie like the Alternate Enterprise 1701 we can miss and match them together.
Good idea... I would love to blow the jar jar TRIBBLE TRIBBLE ships into pieces. Also the jar jar Klingon ship is the only decent thing coming out if there.
But still no.
3 More people will be exposed to the new universe more and might even allow the franchise to expand further.
The jar jar verse lacks a lot if things. Good writing. Or better: writing in general. Quality. Competence. A narrative. A director and producer not hating the franchise.
However it pitifully does not lack people exposed to it. Which is probably the biggest problem with it.
There are certainly more people "exposed" to it then to Star trek online, I doubt there is anyone in this game who has not been exposed to that abomination of the franchise unless he/forcefully avoided seeing that...thing.
It should be its own season maybe an expatiation-pack as well like the Romulan one. I think the story should reflect whats going on with the JJverse and the Prime-verse like have section 31 dealing with the Iconians or the Tal-share to manipulate both sides and the player and the Crew of the Enterprise must stop them before they can destroy the Federation and the Klingon Empire. It should be several missions both in each universe and helping to give hints on the next movie as well and the Final Episode of the season you should get the new Constitutions class desgine and have it part of the original configuration and you can mess around with it.
In Final It will help both New Star Trek and Star Trek Online because they can have something that fans will remember by and it also might help along with string theory as well if you guys know what I mean
Lol. Just lol. You are kind of misjudging stos position in that franchise. Beside the fact that this plot can not work for already mentioned reasons.
I don't know what game you think you've been playing, but STO has NEVER been Star Trek. At best this game has a trekkish theme/setting and trekkish references.
It's pretty funny seeing the comments here, I argue that real Trek fans despise JJ trek and his desolation of the prime universe completely erasing almost 50 years of deep philosophical and spiritual parables and artistic writing to do shot reverse shot lens flare's and semi-auto blasters I mean phasers with M Night Shamalamadingdong style plot twists. Even though lots of crazy things have been added to this game, even crazier to me is a JJ verse, I am sorry but, you might as well add in unicorns and ponies, and a Sudoku Rep System.

I usually do not like claiming to know what a "real fan" is and what not.
But for the rest I agree.

Would love the sudoku rep though...
My synopsis of a real fan believes in Gene's ideas, and makes that their primary interest in a trek film. Not explosions or Cgi, but actually embraces the concept of social change based on the series and reflects on them, as opposed to JJ's universe which cared nothing about relationships, I honestly don't care how deep they think 09/STID was with its so called occupy wall street, CIA/DOD invasion of privacy and 9/11 imagery which I call a massive stretch of the imagination. I have heard so many empty excuses for why JJ's films don't have an ounce of exploration or inflection on the human condition. It is why I think there is a big difference between an epithetic logic driven trekkie/er vs the popcorn eating cows (TM Red Letter Media) who just want to see Alice Eve in her underwear, "cold fusion bombs", and an engine room that looks like a brewery and used like the attack of the clones Rube Goldberg factory.

I'm not a trekkie, but I despise JJtrek (I think I despise pretty much everything he have done so far). From a "just a movie" point of vue, the movies were bad, full of clich

My question always will be: Why not both?
Where roots the assumption that a blockbuster popcorn flick has to be stupid and cannot have action AND a smart, logic driven story and plot?
Those movies cost MILLIONS of dollars, why not spent a few more (which would not even be 1 % of the budget) on a f*** good screenplay? Or not even good, it just has to have an at least a basically consistent plot, that can't be to much to ask for.
The original Terminator movies did it....
But on the "true treck" definition: Its IMO about a lot more then "exploring the human condition", but I agree, "Exploring the limits of CGI" or "Exploring how much stupidity the audience swallows and still praises the movie for its cgi" are not part of it.
Still wondering where Generations "explored" any of what Star Trek made Star Trek. That movie was as bad as the JJ stuff.
And ID at least TRIED. Although failed. But so did Nemesis....
Truth is this franchise was already falling apart before Jar Jar Abrahams began his crusade to irreversibly destroy it. (What do you expect from a man who essentially admitted he hates the franchise?)
ST09 is irreversibly doomed to be pure TRIBBLE, not only as a Star Trek movie but it fails even to live up to the definition of "a movie". But if someone likes it as the stupid clipshow it is.... And ALSO likes trek as trek?
I mean does enjoying a Steak make me "not a real pizza fan"?
JJ Trek brought a lot of fans back to a stagnant franchise that was woefully in need of a hard reboot because the old fans are old.
I can agree with this. It's also brought new people in (who, yes, do go and explore additional Star Trek sometimes), as much as some people don't want to admit that.

Is that the article that flat out says they didn't get any confirmation from anyone at either CBS or Bad Robot, and is totally based on what someone CLAIMING this is what happened aka BAD JOURNALISM.
50 years of deep philosophical and spiritual parables
Yeah, whenever Star Trek tried deep and spiritual it was usually pretentious and its morals consisted of beating people over the head with said moral and most of this so called deep philosophical and spiritual stuff was from TNG not TOS. An some of it was frankly abhorrent when you actually think about what they are telling you.
Besides Star Trek films have been action adventure movies since freaking 1982.

Usually it seems the vocal minority are the ones that disliked it, and everyone else either liked it or didn't feel the need to comment about their feelings about the movie.

Plus I don't see how the JJ films are that different from TOS over than having a better budget and using the TOS films' version of Kirk's character.
Well hart i don't agree with you on much but on your reply to originalspock, you hit the nail on the head. He seems to think Gene tried to build utopia from minute one. I think it grew into that, eventually. In the beginning, he was merely trying to a science adventure flick and make money while doing it.
Over time it built into this grand utopia where it challenged morals, but like you said that didn't come about till TNG. I mean hell the original cast didn't start dealing with real morals till about Star Trek 4. Wasn't till Star Trek 6 Kirk finally had to come to grips with his racism of Klingons. Granted brought on by what happened to David, but still, wasn't till WAY later on when TNG was chargin ahead at full steam that the older crew started looking at moral values.
Most of TOS was "go here, do this, look good while doing it." Hell wasn't until Wrath of Khan you saw Kirk vulnerable. Most times in TOS, he was looking for the next piece of intergalactic tail.

I suppose it depends on what you mean by "morals." Star Trek was pushing social issues from the beginning. For example, the half-white/half-black race hates the half-black/half-white race simply because of how their skin color is different. There is a lot more going on in those TOS episodes then Kirk-rolls, punches, and phaser shots.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

And don't forget the first interracial kiss on tv.
And to no one specific; granted the Original Series did have problems, but it did tackle issues that were relevant in its day; and (sadly) some that still are today. It was able to do this as it was a science fiction medium, it was able to deal with topics that others couldn't because it was able to adapt it enough where it got on the air. As in the example above the half-white/half-black vs the half-black/half-white hatred was one way they were able to handle topics of the time.
Whether you like JJTrek or not, it has done some good for Star Trek. Some people, whom have never bothered to watch any Star Trek until JJ's movies came out, became interested in the previous material.
"I'm not big on telepaths myself. I'm not big on guns either. But if everyone else has them, I want to make sure I can get my hands on the biggest one I can."
STO already is the JJ Verse. The destruction of Romulus is a JJ Verse thing and if it's in STO then, thusly, we must be in the JJ Verse too. Just his 24th Century version from the Countdown Comics.

Wrong.

In the books (soft canon) Romulans split into two factions after the events of Nemesis: The Romulan Empire, which is ruled by Praetor Tal Aura from Romulus and the Imperial Romulan State which is ruled by Empress Donatra from the planet Achernar Prime.
