Planet killers do nothing more than....

..tickling players.

They should be badass scary weapons, and their one shot should be able to take our hulls to 10% if not killing players. Right now, they are an embarrassing abomination to the lore and glory of planet killers.

How about buffing their weapon just a bit. Say one shot after every 15 - 20 second, and only at the selected player/pet?

Borg gates and cubes do a better job of blowing stuff up than these supposed planet killers.

Yes because everyone want to be one shotted randomly. It's so much fun.
    Frustration =/= difficulty.

Also, the planet killer in elite already 2 shots players. In the battlezone they love to targets fighters, mines and torpedoes, so you don't see it often.

I'd actually go the opposite direction on this. To keep the feeling of a big, bad, planet killing monstrosity, I wouldn't have it attack players at all. The planet killing would take place in cutscenes or missions where we have to deal with the aftermath. Instead, it would be the guard ships that would be badasses. A special type of ship created solely to guard the PKs from enemy fleets.

The other alternative I could see is arming the PKs with smaller weapons on the outside of it's hull for defense. I just think it's dumb to see the main gun firing, but see only 1 ship damaged.

Once in a while my Oddy gets tickled by one in the space zone and I barely loose my shields, so much for the planet killing buisness.......
Yeah the planetkillers in the space zone are kinda pathetic. But what else would you do with them?

    Making them hit way harder?

And just adding more hp would still suck since it would just waste more time to kill them.

Maybe make them move around since that would eliminate the "park your ship and set weapons to auto-fire"-tactic. I know it's not much but it would at least be something.

Shouldn't those things basically be Doomsday Devices with a new costume mostly?

Give the main weapon shot a bit of a warmup animation to give us time to clear the line of fire and maybe update the AI of the Undine to trap us there with tractor beams and fluidic bubbles to give the mechanic a unique spin.

So it becomes risky taking a shot at it'S mouth point blank range.

Those Bio-molecular torps should then be equally efficient as the hargh pengh compared to regular weapons against the DD so taking the risk is worth it.

Considering they are supposed to blow up PLANETS, they can't take down one freaking starship?

Please enlighten me on how that is supposed to WORK?

Typically, you don't use your largest weapon for something it isn't meant for. Example: you can take out a plane with a nuke, but it would be a waste of ordinance.

Out of all the posts I agree with this one. The planet killers should be compared to something like the Deathstar. On the planet killers main destination (earth) it should blow up other planets in its way. A Federation Map showing a Straight line From Undine Fluidic space to Sol system and Earth. THe Line should go through Numerous planets. Those planets would become a target to keep the Planet killer from straying off course. As the weeks progress Planets should get blown up and we have to deal with the aftermath. Then in a Later patch it could show the Combined forces of The Federation, KDF and Romulan Republic in one final attemp to destroy it. This of course would come after a 5man mission story arc of the undines plans to take over the alpha quadrant.
Yet, we get 1 FE , 1 decent ground mission and 2 God aweful space missions with NO worth while story at all. I ask cryptic. Where are your professional Writers. The story were getting now seems to have come from the mind of child with a handicap. Sad days ahead. I shiver to think we will never get anymore story driven missions like the Cardassian strugle. One can only Hope.

Planet killers become even more useless if you have acetons. Drop an aceton or 2 in front of one next time yer fighting. I promise they will take most if not all the aggro until the killer's beam pushes them out of range.

stop comparing the battlezone planet killers to the ones in the STFs.
    whole different topic.
the battlezone ones ... are supposed to be easy.. the Trex also isnt hard in the ground battlezone.. but in the elite stf it can even one shot you if you are hold by the rifts and the puddles also on you.. get hit by a fluidic plasma torp before that .. your shield gone and boom 75k crit hit by a planet killer... nothing you can do about that..

Tell that to the Death star II which was capable of doing both? And when you have a bunch of ships sitting in the front of that cannon unloading into it, it should go "click. BOOM!" and you watch all those ships go kaboom.

Sorry you don't build a weapon of that power that can one shot a planet, but a ship sitting infront of it firing at it and it can't do the same?

    Bad writing.

My justification for the PK's behavior is they are not firing at full power, exchanging less damage for a quicker rate of fire.

Agreed that the Planet Killers would be focused on the target (planet) and not so much on players. It make sense that the PKs escorts would be the real dmg. dealers to enemy ships. I will say that the Undine Battlezone is just way too easy and there's really not enough to do or enough of a challenge to keep me around much longer than after I received my daily bonus mark pack.
An idea for a fix on this, maybe lower the number of players in the instance so it's more challenging. With the amount of player ships around we've just been decimating the Undine.

You know how in the ground battlezone there is a couple pretty challenging mini bosses cruising around randomly, one is a big armored Voth General or something and the other is a type of Dino w/lazor. It would be great to see a couple mini bosses like that in the space zone too.

Ground Battlezone isn't easy if they start to add more blockage to you. And the planet killers targets can be taken out by one ship if you have the fire power and shield healing. Voth Armor General is now in other areas of the city like the Park. Also Voth and Undine forces are battling out Undine Space Battle.

This actually makes sense. Why waste the energy on a full charge shot if you're only gonna get one out of it against things that can actually maneuver out of the way?
