Its not canon baaaaw baaaw baaaaw I don't like it.

People like this are extremely pathetic, and have entitlement issues like Chris Chan.

Its canon as long as the company owning the IP says its canon. Grow up whiny kids.

TOS.... internally consistent? TOS couldn't even agree on what the hardest substance in the universe was....

Anyways, all anomalies in JJtrek can be handwaved as it being a parallel reality instead of a divergent timeline, and you can blame the timewar for everything wrong in ENT... actually some of the differences in ENT were explicitly blamed on the timewar... Making a full list is an exercise for the viewer.

No, they can't. Bernard Schneider has several excellent articles about how many of the inconsistencies.

ST09 has specific reasons for not being the same as TOS. It makes the idea that TOS was the most internally consistent laughable. I'm kinda surprised there isn't a specific EAS page about it. Basic bits of BG info changed between eps in TOS...

Y'know, some day, I am going to finally be cool enuf to roll a Ferasan or Caitian toon. Until then, all I can do is stand outside the window watching everyone else feasting. :P

ST canon is blinding simple. What's onscreen is canon. That is it. That is not a fan position that is CBS / Paramount / whomever is in charge todays position.

Off screen comments are not canon regardless who they come from.

    Again not Caitians.

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

Having seen the STID "Caitians" regardless of whether or not it's canon, I can't help but find myself....deeply disappointed. As an ardent watched of SyFy's Face Off, and a general sci fi fan, I feel I have a pretty firm grasp on what can be done with special effects.

I"m not particularly fond of the JJverse's reworking of established species.

We know what Caitian's look like. We know what they are. They are a bipedal felinoid species...with fur. It's indisputable canon.

So in this modern age, where we have the Incredible Hulk, Optimus Prime, and a metallic Colossus walking around on screen with no problem the idea that they couldn't provide us with a next level Caitian makeup or CGI overlay like Gollum, seems painfully lazy to me.

And then for him to back door it saying that it's a Caitian...he could've happily declared it to be a completely different species. I supremely doubt that on the 40,000 plus conjectured inhabitable class M planets in the Star Trek Milky Way that Cait is the only one that his produced lithe females that a human would find attractive with long beautiful tails. Give us a new species rather than shoehorning something radically different into an existing one.

Alternate reality rather than alternate timeline....yeah I guess.

More than that, look at her pants. That is incredibly cool with a little pattern and everything. Where do you get those?

It looks/ed like she was wearing orion bikini bottoms, the pattern seemed like a white trill spot pattern and the leg armor is hirogen i think?.

They were not called Caitians onscreen so they are not Caitians, it doesn't matter what someone behind the scenes says it's not canon unless it's onscreen.

They aren't called Caitians, they don't look like Caitians, they are not Caitians.

Going by that then this and this are not Caitians and this is not a Saurian.
They were not specifically cited as such on the shows.

Well the black one isn't a Caitian, it says so on the page. I have no problem with the behind the scenes name being used for the Saurian as it has no other name, however the catgirls contradict actual Caitians shown in the show.

The brown one could be a Caitian he does look like a male version od M'Res.

I think the boots are from the Omega set and the metal details around her hips are from the Maco set.

She does look a bit like a Christmas tree, doesn't she? Using a little bit of everything from all types of different species and outfits. :P

The black one's race is simply unknown... he COULD be a Caitian, or maybe not.... We don't know. However, he is either A: Caitian, or B: yet another previously unknown member of the UFP.... Granted there are dozens of them, but still...

This is not the same reality as the show. The show's rules do not apply to the JJ films.

JJ made the gorns into some hive minded invaders from another galaxy.

So why does turning caitians into anime catgirls any different?

Mind, I'm not a fan of catgirls, but he already did the number on the gorns, so it stands to logic that he would do it to other races.

That is definitely made by using a 'cheat' that I didn't know existed in STO until recently (that CO has also shown existence of in the past).

A friend told me it's supposed to show the lack of genes in the pool at Nimbus. There are so few people there that humans are falling in love with cat people. I think he said the letheans there have some weird non-lethean features too.

Really? In the movie or in game? Could also be flip of the coin with what genetic traits they get, some get to keep their fur and others may not. IDIC.
