    omg

Though I disagree with your opinion on the skirt/Oddy combination, the booty shorts direction is indeed a good call - makes it distinct. And I would kill for those heels.

I would like to apologize for these taking so long. I lost the originals and had to redo them from scratch. I've also had kind of a rough week so I wasn't able to do them until yesterday or do anything fancy beyond a terrible sketch. :(

    sc0358781a_zps2d1da86e.jpg

For those of you that care about all the fashion to help make them more evil here are the differences:

The collar is slightly higher in order to give it a more evil look. The girl on the far right has an extra high collar just to show what it would look like.

On the male uniform the metallic banding is lower on the chest. This makes the shoulders look broader.

The female version (of course) bares the midriff. Tradition must be upheld.

Unlike the ENT uniforms the sleeves go all the way to the wrist on both male and female uniforms.

Just as the Oddy combadge (the one that's unavailible to players) is the alternate future variant without the backing, the Terran Oddy Combadge is the symbol of the empire without the sword. So just a planet earth.

It's also on the opposite side of the chest.

There are no differences in the pants.

The boots are more boot-like and were based off the TOS Boots with the raised heels. The current Oddy boots don't look very "empirey".

The empire has graduated from skirts to booty shorts. I personally don't think the Oddy uniform reallys works with skirts already, and adding a midriff makes it look even worse. Short Shorts look better, are suitably different, and still work with the whole "evil" thing. Plus, you know, Booty Shorts man.

The thigh high boots currently in game aren't really that sexy. Some true high heeled boots would remedy that.

The metallic banding around the chest is also around the wrists, and the mirror belt.

The Dagger is now a Buck Knife.

Anyway, if enough people like them I'll clean them up, colour them, and draw the rest of the ideas I have.

    I like it.

I disagree on booty shorts being better than a skirt here, but you certainly make an extremely compelling visual argument. I approve. :D Nice boots too.

I disagree with the take on the badge.

The backing removed on the Prime Starfleet was the one added with TNG. The 2410 badge has all the design elements of the TOS badge but is chromed.

I'd probably go for a thicket version of the TE badge with some depth to it and make the red part of the earth emblem LED.

Dig the shorts idea though as it's a novel spin. Have also suggested epaulets in place of pips.

Agree with epaulets and would like to see service medals back on the right side.

Another feature I liked from the recent comics with Mirror Picard at the Empire's end was that he hadWoK pants that were rendered more like Zuove pants.

Though one direction they could go to hammer things home and bring them back full circle to some of the shock factor of the original would be to go for jack boots and aviator pants. Add pouches to the jacket, a grenade belt, and maybe some caps/helmets. Prussian helmets for MACO. Berets for officers. Maybe pirate rags for enlisted.

There's a balance of Third Reich, Space Pirate, and Roman soldier I think needs to be reached.

I can see the MACO armor being very Roman. Exposed arms and legs and mouth and something evocative of a mohawk on top. Enlisted I figure could have a very pirate look (and that's where the sash and midriffs come from). And I could see the officer look, like I say, involving aviator pants, a beret. I also figure they should have more scarred up characters and one thing I think would work well if they could differentiate it from borg would be arm cannons or cybernetic hands. I'd say holographic false hands but we've never seen the Terrans use holograms. Their Vic Fontaine was an android or clone or something. (There's debate over the android thing.)

Actually, an open jacket version of the Odyssey would just show the turtleneck shirt underneath just like the open jacket version of the TNG movie uniform, so no more skin would show for either sex anyway.

It does for the other uniforms with open options where females can choose with or without the turtleneck where the men are forced to use only the turtleneck. So what was your point?

These are really good. I especially like the idea of the shorts instead of the skirt.

My only disagreement is with the badge. I think it still needs the knife/sword.

Women cannot choose whether to wear/not wear the undershirt in the open versions of the Antares and Sierra Uniforms. They (for some reason) just do not wear undershirts in the open variants. Regardless, the undershirts (worn by the men) are not seen in the closed versions of those uniforms. I'd have no problem with the undershirts being removed from those uniforms, though.

My point: Comparing the Odyssey to the Antares/Sierra is a false comparison. Unlike those uniforms, the turtleneck of the Odyssey CAN be seen (it's that part that's the same color as the stripe), just like the turtleneck of the TNG Movie Uniform (the only other uniform with an open variant). And just like the TNG Movie Uniform, opening the jacket of the Odyssey would just expose the turtleneck underneath, not skin.

Actually, I want to point out that with the TNG Movie/DS9 uniform, they actually have three layers.

The outermost layer is the black jacket with gray shoulders, the next layer is the colored turtleneck seen underneath the jacket, and the last layer is a gray undershirt.

Here we can see Kira Nerys with the jacket open, showing the colored turtleneck underneath.

Here we can see Lisa Neeley with both the jacket and the turtleneck open, showing the grey undershirt underneath, and more skin.

QUESTION: Shortly after Season 9 went live, we were informed that Thomas Marrone was writing a DevBlog concerning the Odyssey Uniform and official colors, etc. While I'm aware of the Reddit post detailing some of this, I was wondering when we might see the mentioned DevBlog?

My guess is it comes when they decided on how to make the belt available, as the current uniform regulations cannot be met by players.

If I thought that people were going to like these I would have put more effort into them. :o

I'm glad that everyone (at least so far) likes the booty shorts idea. I wasn't sure how that one was going to go over. :P Still, it's up to Cryptic to decide how they want to implement this or if they even want to.

I gotta say also that you can't remove the sword from the Terran Empire Emblem. It just doesn't work. The sword represents the conquering spirit, the drive of imperialism. It is the empire.

Maybe have the sword with a hollow ring around it rather than a solid earth.

Both men and women use visible undershirts on all Antares and Sierra uniforms that are zipped up except for Antares 1 and Sierra 1. They don't have any visible undersirts. Granted there is only one small triangle of the undershirt shown, yet its presence is there. So if females can unzip AND remove it so should men be allowed to do the same.

The turtlenecks also have zippers. Plus, if the undershirt can be removed in the Antares and Sierra uniforms it can be removed in the Odyssey uniforms as well for the unzipped versions.

Perhaps I wasn't clear. I'm making a distinction between the turtleneck and the undershirt. Jacket over turtleneck over undershirt. The Antares and Sierra Uniforms unzip the jacket and turtleneck (where there is a distinct seam on the turtleneck) exposing the undershirt on men and skin on women.

The Odyssey turtleneck has no discernible seam for a zipper, therefore it's most likely a pullover and would not unzip. So, an open jacket version of the Odyssey would just expose more of the turtleneck.

And I feel I'm not making myself clear. Cryptic treats the same uniform differently when it comes to men and women. Women get the option to show skin, men don't. That is wrong. If the women can remove their undershirt then I'm sure men have the brain capacity to figure out how to do that too. Because both the male and female versions of the Antares and Sierra uniforms have undershirts. It's just that Cryptic objectifies women by making them show more skin then men. That doesn't make men and female equals like they is supposed to be in the Star Trek future.

Well, women uniform also are much more tight, when you check the model in the game, just so it can underline the female figure and it's curves. It would be OK, if there was an option for that to not be the case. But, since right now, there's just not such an option.. Makes me go 'mehhh'. <.<

Not to mention, female uniforms don't have an undershirt option when 'open' jackets. That is equally wrong. I wish the game developpers would get this straight, that this is not how everyone wants things. And goes for both sexes.

No, I totally understand what you're saying in regards to the equality of sexes showing/not showing skin with some of the open jacket variants.

But women don't "get the option". It's by default. They are forced to show skin if they use the open jacket variants on the Antares and Sierra. Likewise the men don't "get the option" either. They are forced to wear the undershirt. Conversely, with the Khan costume, the men have no option, they are forced to bare skin, while women have the option to bare skin or wear an undershirt. Of course, the Khan costume came much later. I think had the open jacket variants been designed now, there would be an undershirt/sans undershirt option. Although, it too may have been strictly an option for women. I'm not saying I agree with said practice, though. I have no problems with both sexes having the with/without option on those uniforms.

My point all along, though, has been that the Odyssey would NOT show ANY skin for EITHER sex if an open jacket variant were made available. The turtleneck has no seam/zipper.

Ok. Well if it was a real world piece of uniform used on a show, it would have a zipper as that makes it easier for the actors to dress without ruining any hair, makeup, prosthetics they might be wearing. So going with that it probably have a zipper but a well hidden one. ;)

Try the TNG season 1 outfit. It's less form fitting than most.

I disagree.. the TNG Season 1 outfit s as bad as the others & in fact, it's canon to be form-fitting, given it's basicly pyjamas. Lol. TNG Movie uniform I'm using shouldn't be form fitting at all though.. and yet... seriously wish that the new coming sliders will make the form-fitting issue less apparent, given good settings with the sliders..

I sometimes use the Omega Armor... but it's not a Starfleet uniform much, so.. kinda not really fitting into my theme... ><
