Well, Space is all FUBAR for me due to the Loadouts messing up my B'rel, my new Fleet Hoh'sus, and everything else I try to use... so, time to talk about Ground stuff!

I seem to remember a time when BOFFs didn't know one end of the Bat'leth from the other, or so everyone said.

With the changes to kits in S9, it's repeat "ASSIMILATION" mode due to the auto drops of VR kit mods. Finally, more Borg busting action!

Since I only have 4 sets of gear with auto Remods (1 Omega Mk11, and KHG in Mk 10, 11, and 12 flavors), and BOFFs otherwise will continuously play with their Remod ding-a-ling if they have a regular Remodulator, I set up a Melee BOFF with the Shard Sword of Kahless. (Darned if I am giving up my KHG Mk 12!)

My BOFF seemed to do okay! Lunge 3 is a bit OP, and then she has Sweeping Strikes on top of the Shard Sword... which all seemed to work. She chopped down Borg pretty well, and she didn't need to play with her Remodulator like other BOFFs do when they don't have Omega rep stuff!

Now, I use a Nausicaan Tegolar Sword. I've only tried that, the Bat'leth, and the Lirpa, and I just love the Tegolar Sword. Regular attacks with the Tegolar are like a mini-Lunge for non-Tactical Captains. Run forward like a crazed lunatic & CHOP! You can just do things with it that you can't do with the Bat'leth. Do any other weapons work that way?

The other reason why I like the Tegolar is that you keep it at the waist, not strapped to your back. So much more piratical!

As much fun as Engineer turrets are, Sci Captain sword fighting is even better. With my VR Mk XI Dylovene hypo, I get +64.4% melee damage over 30 seconds. Not +40% over 5 seconds, like the KHG Adrenal Booster... 30 seconds of +64.4% damage. Then I can throw down an Exothermic bomb or any number of other nice abilities. It's all quite LULZ.

With my Tegolar blade, I can grab & hold Aggro on the V.rexes pretty decently, even with no Threat mod & the Orion passive where my Threat is reduced.

I almost wish my Sci captain were Klingon for the melee buff. However, tramp outfits are OP, so there's that.

I have a newfound appreciation for it.
Though I preferr to fight like a Klingon with the Shard Sword of Kahless, the ultimate melee weapon for any self respecting Klingon Warrior. :D

You might want to look into some Rare/Very Rare Security Officer doffs that boost Crit Chance and Crit Severity, they stack.

I've long favored the TAC Close Combat Kit. Melee DOFFs for Melee Crit Severity and Chance, Sweeping Strikes for PBAOE Expose, Lunge 3 and Compression Pistol secondary bolt for powerful Exploit effects. You don't even need a melee weapon for it.

For this, I love my Gorn TAC. The trait to have the Bite is a very nasty Exploit attack.

My Klingon tac loves using his MK XI VR Bat'leth and my fed sci cait is also quite adept in melee. I wish they would improve it a bit since melee is an important part of Trek combat and some new canon weapons, but I like ground actions :)

I quite enjoy the melee on the KDF side as well. Having my away team equiped with all those bat'leths I collect is so very Klingon.

Just yesterday I unleashed the wrath of the Empire on the Borg - melee style.
I used the 'Shard Sword of Kahless' and gave my team the 'Tritanium Rendering Bat'leth' from the Day of Honor, the 'Ceremonial Bat'leth" from the C-Store, another speical one I got ages ago, but I don't remember the name :o and a 'Tegolar Sword'. Fun times. :)
Always hillarious to see Borg being mowed down by a KDF away team with traditional weapons in melee combat. :D

Yes: the falchion does, as well as the crystalline and Nukara reputation swords.

It's so nice to see people enjoying ground. :) I also love melee - I main as a sci tank who wields a sword, and I have recently decided to go melee on my tactical alt.

Something you might be interested in: there's a new tactical kit module called Biotech Siphon, available via lockboxes or the exchange, which adds a self-heal for 50% of outgoing physical damage and could be invaluable for melee builds.

I remember when BOFFs would just kind of look dumbly at a melee weapon if you handed them one lol.

And yeah melee rules, nothing like grabbing the sword of Kahless and showing the qa'meH quv their insides.

I just wish there were more Klingon melee weapons useable by us like the Mek'leth.

Hell even with a fed and you whip out the tholian crystaline sword and go to town. Or my kdf side with the nanopulse batleth is quite fun.

Only thing that makes me sad, is the fact that my tholian sword and nanopulse batleth are not account bound instead of character.

Now THAT sounds like good fun. I will have to do that on my next runthrough of Assimilated, now that I've mostly repaired my B'rel Retrofit & can do space stuff again.

3 Tactical BOFFs with my 3 Bat'leths, 1 Engineer BOFF (for shield healing) with a Nausicaan sword, and then me (doing the Heal-y bits). And no silly Remodulations!

My KDF Eng has always kept a Bat'leth on him since day 1. Many has fell to that blade. I love going to melee if the enemy decides to get into my face. They made a big mistake cause I will hack them down to size.

As for the Borg, my KDF warrior isn't one bit scared of them. They have yet to figure out how to adapt to a fresh sharpen blade. Usually while my BOFFs keep them busy. I just run around hacking away. Their pathetic shields are no match.

I'm glad they redid those Borg missions. As I'm looking forward to go hacking into Borgs again.

I wish they would make the Jem'Hadar Kar'takin useable. As I can say it was a found from a dead Jem'Hadar. As I would make use of it as well.

Yeah, I only have 1 blue & 1 green crit DOFF for ground. I also use a Biologist (since I use both Anesthezine Gas & Tricorder Scan), a melee knockback DOFF (since I don't have a trait or anything to do that innately), and the Biochemist for additional DR reduction on debuffs.

I try to stack as much DR reduction as I can, actually. Plus, I can't really afford the big time crit DOFFs :P

why would you want to be knocking enemies back when you're trying to turn them into fillet?

It knocks them down, reducing their threat to me, and then the swing attacks on my Tegolar sword cause me to charge forward & chop them while they are on the ground.

This is the main reason why I use Swords rather than the Bat'leth, which I would otherwise use. It's almost like a ranged weapon! I'm constantly zooming across the field in the Voth battleground... as a Sci Officer! I don't even need Lunge to get on top of an enemy.

Well, the charging forward AND the fact that you keep the Tegolar sword on your hip when not in use, unlike other swords. That's just cooler than the sword on the back! :D

Like farmallm said, I also have been keeping a bat'leth in the primary weapon slot of all my Klingon characters and Ferasan as well for that matter. It is just to traditional, looks epic when carrying it on the back (especially the Shard Sword of Kahless), in check with lore and so very Klingon. I just love them and I collect all kinds of bat'leths since I made my first Klingon character.

I understand the slight advantages of using a sword like the Tegolar others have spolen about, but then again - the bat'leth has that historic value and just looks so epic to me that I prefer using them to any other melee weapon.

And yeah, it's about time for us to see a pack of a d'k tahg and mek'leth in the C-Store. Those two weapons have almost as much lore value to the Klingons as the bat'leth.
