I really don't want to see any Borg ships being commanded by players. Flying in Undine ships was bad enough, considering the nature of using one of your enemy's ships, especially an enemy that uses organic material in making said ships AND is highly telepathic.
It would make even less sense to use a Borg ship. They are not designed to be operated by a crew of anything other than drones. They have no living quarters, no bridge, nothing that we would recognize as being critical to the operation of a starship, because it is managed in a different way. Not the mention that fact that Borg technology being around a crew of anything that isn't Borg would present a huge problem.
So... no, I hope to God that we never have Borg ships docking in my Starbase...
However, seeing Cryptic's unstoppable march down the path of more lockboxes and Lobi store items, I don't see any reason why this won't happen eventually, to my great regret.
One the on Hand I generally like variety. And I generally would like that ppl can fly whatever they want.
In the other hand player controlled Borg ship are stupid. But since it's not half as stupid as undine bio ships, mane since they are already there, I'll have to go with yes.
I dont think that Borg ships should be playable by any means it would be out of character of the whole star trek franchise if people where flying around in Borg cubes etc. Humans assimilating the Borg ridiculous!
It almost as bad as the current lock boxs with undine the ships they should have never brought them into the game instead have another type of ship with similar characteristics though engineering not through a biological means.
Yeah well, everybody said the same about undine playable ships, and you know what, they are already here!! lol. It is as simply as, if they give money, we will have borg lockboxes. Im sure of it. Cryptic cant think in other way. Unfortunately. And since it doesnt matter what the customers say, borg lockboxes are going to popup no matter wat lol.
As long as the trend of putting "salvaged" "bad guy" ships in lockboxes continues, I don't expect anything else.
However, like the Undine bioships, I don't think it's a great idea.
Assimilated versions of existing ships might be another story. But Borg tech has a bad tendency to Frankenstein, IMO.

How is a Borg Faction supposed to work with this diverse game?
- There would be no costume options, as costumes are irrelevant.
- There would be no ship variants /skin options, as skin options are irrelevant
- You are not able to control your character as the Queen gives your orders were to walk and fly and were not.
- You cant chat because everytime your try you character just posts: "We are the borg"
- You cant buy / sell stuff as making profit is irrelevant
- You are not able to equip anythign else then Borg Plasma Weapons as any other stuff is irrelevant
In summary the Borg will be a very interesting and exciting faction if they ever will be introduced properly

In fact, borg ships will be easier to pilot by humans. We saw a few episodes on voyager that is a real possibility. The Borg can pilot a cube wihout being connected to the collective. So, in my opinion, a borg ship will be even more possible that an undine ship lol. And we already have undine ships, so. Besides, the systems of the Borg can be operated by any specie, they have universal circuiteriy. Nothing special. On the contrary to the undine ships. And in voyager we saw how the borg tech can be adapted to almost any purpose you want.
So in the end, even borg ships will be more fausible than undine ones lol.
A sphere of course can be piloted by a bunch of humans, a cube, the only problem will be the size, but there is no need of 20 guys to pilot a ship. Not even a cube. Being in a collective doesnt mean they need the collective to pilot the ship. A single drone can do it without being connected.
AND, since cryptic never uses logic, we could see the doomsday machine very soon as a playable ship o.O

There have been several games in the past that have had playable Borg.
No reason why STO can't also.
MAYBE let us steal a probe or something in a mission so we can reverse engineer fancy borg system whatever, but outright playable?
No
No
No
Dear god I hope not
Enterprise was partially assimiliated and Voyage had Borg tech all over.
One hit from Borg cube should bring the shields down at least 40%.
I see little chance for seeing Borg ever feeling as powerful and dangerous as they should be. The game has gone through plenty of changes with enemy groups, and they never bothered to address this so far. I wouldn'nt hope on anything getting better here.
I would probably prefer if there were more ways to show a "partially assimilated" ship, like the Borg set. But the Borg set is sometimes a bit too extreme or ugly for my taste.
But hey, if Cryptic ever gets around redesigning the Borg ships:
Something smaller than Probe as Frigates (assimilated shuttles and freighters from other races perhaps?) or there are none at all.
Probes and assimilated Frigates from other races are Cruisers/Destroyer/Science Vessels
Spheres and assimilated Cruisers/Science Vessels/Escorts are Battleships (moderately dificult enemy to deal with)
Cubes and Diamonds are Dreadnoughts (usually neeed multiple players to crack).
Tactical Cubes are STF, Fleet Action or Red Alert endboss Type enemies
And those V'Ger ships are muilti-objective mission targets for fleet actions or STFs.
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
Yes there are a few threads about the possible upcoming "Borg Lock Box"
Some people say we won't get Cubes but other things from Diamonds to spheres.
So lets do a Poll - which is not too scientific because only a small percent of people really interested in the game visit the forums(unless there is a huge crash)
Question 1) Would you want a Cube type ship if possible?
Question 2) Would you want a Borg Diamond?
Question 3) Would you want a Borg Tactical Sphere?
Question 4) Even if you don't want them - do you think it could be the best selling Lock-Box - especially if they add lots of Borg doffs and Borg plasma weapons(Romulans would like more plasma weapons!)
I think it would be more interesting to have Borg Lockboxes assimilate your character, that way you would truly experience the Borg as "intended" and be forced to go through missions of being a Borg.
Locutus 2910 anyone?
Seriously, IMO, there is enough "immersion breakage" as it is in the game. Yes it's an MMO; yes it's sometimes fun to do different things that would normally not be done is a Star Trek episode/movie but being able to have a Borg ship as your own just SHOULDN'T be possible, along with a T5 Connie - sounds fun but shouldn't really ever happen.

- There would be no costume options, as costumes are irrelevant.
There are, however, drones that look different from each other. Your drone may have not chosen the looks, but the player sure can. In Starfleet, it's called a "uniform"; and yet we aren't "uniform".
- There would be no ship variants /skin options, as skin options are irrelevant
Well, there are different ship types available, and there could very well be subtle differences between Borg vessels we usually don't care to model, but depend on how they were build. (I figure that Borg vessels grow as the collective adapts new technology.)
- You are not able to control your character as the Queen gives your orders were to walk and fly and were not.
SUre, the QUeen gives orders - it just happens to be that they are just the thing the player wanted to do, just like some Starfleet Admiral is giving me orders and the player just decides he wishes to do what the Admiral cares to say.
[/QUOTE]
- You cant chat because everytime your try you character just posts: "We are the borg"
The player is chatting, not the character. So far, I haven't noticed the NPCs react to my charater's chat...
- You cant buy / sell stuff as making profit is irrelevant
Just like in the Federation, no one is in it for money or stuff like that...
- You are not able to equip anythign else then Borg Plasma Weapons as any other stuff is irrelevant
It just happens to be that the Borg Queen has instructions to use different weapons, believing it to be better adapted to the situation I am facing.
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
For the sake of science, I will be brutally honest here.
1) Yes
2) No
3) Yes
4) Perhaps. It would depend on how good the gear is. Apart from massive Borg fans the other potential customers would be those who concentrate on the stats and look past aesthetics or canon.
I'm not sure I would gamble with lock boxes for a cube, but I don't mind admitting that I would love the chance to fly one myself - even if it would be a nightmare.
There are, however, drones that look different from each other. Your drone may have not chosen the looks, but the player sure can. In Starfleet, it's called a "uniform"; and yet we aren't "uniform".
Well, aren't all the Borg in the TV show distinct from each other? I've never seen two with the exact same configuration. :P
Well, there are different ship types available, and there could very well be subtle differences between Borg vessels we usually don't care to model, but depend on how they were build. (I figure that Borg vessels grow as the collective adapts new technology.)
Now this is something the show never explored. with the way Borg individuals are unique it seems reasonable to believe their ships are too.
no.
no.
no. Because these are all ugly boring unimaginative designs.
yes. Because people can be complete idiots sometimes.
Ships don't make any sense anymore. Federation, Klingon and Romulan captains would never be flying around in these "captured" ships, they would only do so long enough to get it back home at which point it would be torn apart and studied, you would never see the TRIBBLE we have going on in this game, but considering what they've been doing, I don't care anymore.
If someone wants to fly around in a box or bowling ball make of scrap metal that's their prerogative just as long as they remember these things are going to be nerfed and shrunk to be no bigger or stronger than any other ship in the game. If their reasons for wanting a borg ship is thinking they'll be able to pwn any other ship in the game with it, they're in for a rude awakening.
If something is not broken, don't fix it, if it is broken, don't leave it broken.
Question 1) Would you want a Cube type ship if possible?
AbsofreakinLUTELY!
The more canon ships the better.
And there's already a bunch of liberated Borg players with Borg BOFFs. Give them the ships they are destined to captain! Make it so!
Question 2) Would you want a Borg Diamond?
Diamonds are kind of high class for me. But sure. Again, more canon ships for everyone!
Question 3) Would you want a Borg Tactical Sphere?
Yeah, no probs! Though I'd probably fly it with an Engi.
Question 4) Even if you don't want them - do you think it could be the best selling Lock-Box - especially if they add lots of Borg doffs and Borg plasma weapons(Romulans would like more plasma weapons!)

That's not true! As Borg, you can also say:
1) Strength is irrelevant. Resistance is futile.
2) Negotiation is irrelevant. You will be assimilated.
3) Freedom is irrelevant. Self-determination is irrelevant.
4) You must comply.
5) We are the Borg. Resistance as you know it is over. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own.
6) You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile.
7) You will become one with the Borg.
8) Why do you resist?
I would love to play a Borg Faction. Muh Liberated Borg would love to bring the wonders of mechanized life to all of the filthy organics. She is all for creating her own little Collective. And flying a Pretty-Pretty Diamond.

Given STO's playerbase of hypocrites, it will be one of the most popular lock boxes.
However, like the Undine bioships, I don't think it's a great idea.

If the Borg have any chance of being the bad TRIBBLE, they was then Borg would not end up in lock boxes.

People would only go for the cube if it comes equipped with the invisa-torp.
Diamond really isn't worth it as it is a glorified science ship.
The Spheres have the nice shield neutralizer, but that is a gimmick console.
Will it be the best seller, nope.
There are other items that would sell better, like the very much wanted T5 Constitution, Jupiter, and Typhoon class starships.
Our Battles
So...yes where it counts.
