Because for years I've used language to convey meaning, i know we all have but I also worked as a communicator, writer and speaker for a lot of my 50 odd years.
Put yourself in my shoes.
You think the inclusion of bioships in the lockboxes are an insult to anyone who cares about the IP and seem to be evidence of people making decisions at Cryptic who don't give a damn about it.
Thats how I feel about it.
What one word would you use to describe the decision that wasn't abomination or disgusting?
And those words could be used without sounding like you are being hateful. I mean you just did it. You find it distasteful and an abomination. You did it without saying PWE is garbage, fix it or I am leaving or any other of the list I've seen today. You used strong verbage, that's perfectly fine, you said it without belittling.

Problem is, they don't convey what I actually feel.
To me this is a visceral mistake.
When I saw the official announcement of what had been almost universally commented on as a bad idea on these fora, my stomach actually turned over.
I felt a little bit sick.
There had been countless posts on the subject and while there had been a few cheerleaders most posters felt it to be an appalingly bad idea and, worse, anti-canon.
All of that feedback had been ignored, once again, and cryptic had just crapped all over the IP.
Words need to convey the feeling that generates them.
Requiring everyone to use mild language to convey strong feelings is akin to telling people to lie.

Yeah well here's the thing. Want to remain on the forums, you can't use the verbage ya want. When you singed that ToS to be on this forum, you promised not to use said verbage.
Want to remain to even have a voice, well lie. That's just the way that is. And sorry one rule I agree with.

I used to work in customer relations.........for the post office.
Now, if you think the examples of language I've mentioned above are rude, try doing my old job for a couple of weeks.
The language I've used is far from insulting.
I may say that a given decision is an abomination, but i don't call Taco an abomination.
There's a difference.
And if people here are so sensitive that the words I've used are beyond their personal pale, then perhaps customer relations aren't for them and they may want to reconsider a career which, at its heart, involves dealing with people who are angry at what your organisation has done.
Actually, I think most companies do care if people stop playing. I know I get emails all the time from games I no longer play to invite me back. Only an idiot wouldn't care about losing customers.
The emails aren't directed at you, they're directed at your wallet.
But honestly it's not me whining about whiners. It's ATTPEMTING to wake people up to the cold hard facts of online gaming.
And what happens when those attempts fail not because ppl don't listen , but because ppl think that you are wrong ?
See , I did a little digging through the murky history of these forums (they become more murky after one of the changes caused the loss of the poster names on OP's ) , but usually the words "transwarp" and "theft" or "stolen" gets you to one of the proven highlights of "vocal feedback" , at a time when (among other things) Cryptic thought to remove some of the Transwarp destinations from the T5 Excelsior (which ppl payed for) and put the onto a T3 variant .
At some point, Lead Designer "Captain Gecko" made a long response , that included the following line :
the T5 Excelsior is getting reverted on Tribble to the way it is on holodeck now.
Call that an Aelfwin (small victory) ... my forum title .
I call it a trip down memory lane , with many of the posters in that thread being gone from these forums and perhaps from the game as well ... , while at the same time Captain Gecko echoing some of the genuine Player-Dev interaction that we had once upon a time .
If the forums just came to a halt because we were so outraged trust me that would get more attention.
This is one more thought of yours that I think is mistaken .
It is mistaken not only because it would never happen , but because a "silent" gaming community is a "happy" gaming community ... -- thus the term "vocal minority" that has been used to describe those who have complained on these forums since ... forever .
The "Majority" is in-game right now , probably trying to score a ship or open a Lockbox .
And they either know what's going on or if they are lucky , they are enjoying a bliss stemming from ignorance .
And those of us who care enough to speak up about the bad changes in game are here to do just that .
And so are the "entitled" folks .
But don't confuse the two .
So thank you for your attempted teachings in regards to "the cold hard facts of online gaming" .
But some of us have been here long enough to know better .
Not all online games are equal , and sometimes Cryptic does listen .
And with all due respect , it's not up to you to tell ppl how to provide feedback .

In this little scuffle , not only a boycott of the c-store was advocated by at least one podcaster , but the boycott of Tribble was also advocated .
