I don't even mean my fourth point to be a rant - I'd be happy for someone to convince me I'm wrong, but right now I remember how mind-shatteringly boring it was to grind out the Dyson Rep on all my characters and if there are no passive buffs or active powers related to the Undine Rep (which there effectively is not since earning them would force me to remove powers I've already slotted) then it's just not something I have any interest in. A big reason for getting Reps done was the fact that they made you more powerful, even if by just a tiny percentage. That made them worth doing, and now that's what is gone.
ur right tho, grinding is a gimmick.
pwe uses it because of their lack of innovation and talent.
The Featured Episode - Fantastic. Quite possibly the best piece of content work your studio has ever produced for this game.
The Rep progression changes - good
The spire kit trade in - good, and I know i was part of the group that spearheaded the demand for the addition of it
The rep power changes - no. After testing them for weeks and now slotting them on my real ship, just no. Ive gone from eight active space powers that diversified my builds to 4 concentrated powers that breaks any semblance of deviating from cookie cutter. Also, its a nerf since the powers that remain are not literally doubled.
New ships, gear, etc - more meh
PvP changes - lol
With the launch of a new game ive purchased as well as the midgame direction switch this one has taken, im fully fine with now making this game my casual sometimes player.
Its no longer my primary focus and nothing ive seen has really changed that, despite the amazingness of the featured ep.
You broke too many of my builds for me to care. Unfortunately I am not going to be ginding my TRIBBLE off like I have in the past to adapt to the change this time, its too sweeping. The changes have forced a complete revamp of every PvP build I have, and it would cost me far too much in EC/Lobi/Dilithium/Fleet credits to even consider doing all over again on even one toon.
Id had enough at the launch of the spire holding, this has pushed a deep button there is no coming back from.
So ill still be here, but I wont purchase anything ever again, I might play a couple hours a week, but this game is sorta like an ex girlfriend to me now =/ I dont even have the motivation to do the new rep on my main, much less bother with it on all of my alts.
I dunno man, I used to be such a strong supporter and advocate for this game... now im just tired of it.

well, i was frightened by the revamp of the rep sytem, but finally i like it. In fact i like this new season, all the new features. But the undines ships available for players is a huge mistake. That destroys the magic of this species which come from a special part of the universe.
and finally, even if i have lost dps, this is not very important
1) My Alien captain, who is Romulan/Fed alignment, is now apparently a Romulan. And I mean in terms of SPECIES. She now has the starting Romulan Trait, instead of the empty slot an Alien gets, and her species is shown as Romulan. She's not a Romulan though, she's a custom Alien
personally i don't care about that, the problem is that my alien-romulan captain has lost the typical romulan trait ( + crit severity, + crit chance)
there is a big problem with some captains. i can't use, traits, rep skills with my bajoran tactical captain. i have the message "invalid skills".
pwe uses it because of their lack of innovation and talent.
No, they (and every other MMO publisher) uses it because it is imposible to make other content at the rate that the player is done with it. If you want that you'll have to play offline games, once they're done, they're done. A few hours of glorious fun and then you can uninstall them.
My two cents for what its worth.
Pro:
I loved the featured episode: awesome mission. Have only played it on my fed thus far but had no problems and great fun, I won't post spoilers but the whole intro cutscene and mission from beginning to end was awesome sauce.
The battlezone: (once I found one that wasn't bugged), was great. Good teamplay aspect, nice map size (imo), great fun all round, and loved leading a squad of my fleetmates to glory.
Esd: +1 from me just really cool. Though I did hear allot of. "Where is shepard?" I love it though and most condusive to the featured episode.
Con:
Rep skills nerf: no. Hate. *shakes fist wildy*.
Graphics settings reset: just plain annoying as I cannot find the sweetspot I had previously yet.
Battlezone bugs: I'm sure allot of people have come across instances of frozen timers and not moving control progression etcetc so I won't go into it but this I'm sure will be patched, its just annoying.
In all I'm happy with the new content but not so happy about the rep nerf.
A suggestion perhaps would be a trait loadout system as messing about with traits for missions has just replaced messing around with gear before missions, the very thing the loadout system was supposed to solve.
Although it does seem odd to me that my toon can now decide moment to moment what his personal traits can be. Wish I could do that lol!
I think being able to switch between trait sets for specific missions might help alleviate this pain in the TRIBBLE.
"If this will be our end, then I will have them make SUCH an end as to be worthy of rememberance! Out of torpedos you say?! Find me the ferengi!".
I posted this in another thread, but it looks like it should go here.
I know the devs put a lot of hard work into the new season, but...sigh.
Undine Assault is like another breach - remarkably boring.
I have no intention of doing any of the Undine material from here on out. It was the same way with me and Nukara. Same with Dyson. Just the same thing over and over, and boring as heck.
I think one of the biggest issues is I know regardless of how well I perform in the instance, I am still gonna walk out with just a few marks and probably nothing else. I remember back in Season 6 when you could still get a very nice MACO drop from borg instances. Then we moved to this grindfest rep system and now all any of us do is farm marks.
We are just doing the same thing over and over. Season 7 = Season 8 = Season 9.
The only difference now is the entire community as a whole got a huge nerf with the trait revamp.
I am just so tired... so tired...of constantly farming marks. I want to actually go into an instance with the hope of coming out with something new. Not just pointless green drops. Even the new gear is just a lateral move to everything else we already have.
No, I am not who you think I am. I am someone different. I am instead a banana.
Now that Season 9 is released i wish i could turn back time and play Season 8 again.
So... I have tried to play some of the new space PVEs... to be exact 5 tries that all failed because of overpowered enemies... players that didnt know what to do... bugs such as players spawning near the stations and being stuck then... or ships that get stuck in undine structures... or encounter rifts that dont close... or... or... or...
Also great is undine can almost instantly kill you. Thats a nice feature.
These PVEs are clearly no fun and currently most players are leaving them.
What else is new?
Ah yeah... yesterday (Season 8) I had 30% more DPS... thats alot considering that I have slotted only traits which increase the damage.
I start to hate season 9 coz its killing the fun of the game.
Except the ESD and the Kits ive not found anything that actually improved the game.
I'm done with STO. PVP is the only thing to play for, and they just screwed it up to force you to grind more.
Go **** yourself craptic. give me my money back. I want a game, not a gimmick. I'm not dumb enough to fall for this grinding like its new content you lazy derps.
I can do better than any one of your devs, at any job.

Dont care if you believe me. after witnessing the work of sto, its enough to know someone who didnt go to school for 3d modeling or creative writing (me) can do better. Prove it? why? am i gonna get a job at sto? you want my resume, offer me a job.
I like the new Earth Space Dock, I look forward to trying out my new Fluidic Antiproton Dual Heavy Cannons and my sidearm no longer disapears when I stand still.
To be honest, I've run a load of ground STF's since the server came back online and we've been TRIBBLE through the borg ranks. So guess the rep revamp has done nothing to stop this!
Oh and thanks for killing off the chance gaining additional BNP's its much appreciated! And as for using the lame excuse that the reward drops were vague. Well all I can say I thought that was what the "Random" part of the loot drop came under.
New rep missions: Dull and lots of unnecessary spam on the screen, did one and that's the last.
No more multiple Neural Processor drops in STFs: Big Dilithium Stealth Nerf.
Ground stuff: Dunno, don't do ground.
ESD: 5 mins interest, but I never go there (and had to drop resolution to stop GFX card crashing).
Overall: Nothing new to do, and the STF's that I do do just got the rewards nerfed.
And don't the queues look quiet? Perhaps they will have to fix something. Time to look for something new and a bit more interesting to do in the evenings, and no you can't have my stuff.
Has anyone found a way to turn off the auto-resolution for missions yet? This "feature" has pissed me off to no end! I don't turn missions in the minute I finish them, I always hold on to them until I'm ready to turn it in and get the reward. DO NOT LIKE THIS "FEATURE"!
My thoughts after playing part of the new episode:
The developers finally saw fit to let us use our own ships, which comes as a sweet relief after the last two featured episodes.
The initial firefight against the Undine is interrupted no less than three times by cutscenes. This is infuriating. The cutscenes disrupt the flow of combat without contributing anything that couldn't be accomplished the way alerts are given in fights like the Crystalline Entity. The mid-combat cutscenes need to be removed in a future patch.
What the developers have done to the number of available reputation traits is an obscenity that removes the incentive to fill more than one or two reputations out. Combine this with a content patch that offers no new Fleet Holding and the net result is, incredibly, less incentive to play endgame PvE content then there was before the patch went live.
I'll be following the news on patch notes in the future, but I'm not logging in again until my unrestricted access to the reputation traits that I worked to earn is restored to me.
My ship will barely move, I'm trying everything I can think it of, full impulse, evasive manvuevers, more power to engines, I'm still moving like a turtle and and I'm cursing the developers for making Fluidic Space so hard to move in.
Turns out my impulse and Warpdrive were unequipted and in my inventory. Doh!
Reequipting those items, I do so rep projects for Undine and Omega rep.
Then I tried the episode and it was great. Will defenately replay for more rewards. I got the console this time that grants +26 photon damage, +13 disuptor and phaser damage, and +26 radiation damage. Next time I'll get the living hull trait, although I'm wondering how I attrached a living hull to my ship. Maybe I just added mutated undine cells to the metal hull, which seal the metal plate back together I don't know, but it sounds cool.
Then I tried Undine Assualt and got Gonar. Fun, but I could use a guide.
I like the changes to rep, I now have access to all of them and I don't need a token to retain them, and to make up for only being able to slot alimited amount, they've been buffed. It was a trade off that was unavoidable. I can slot the ones I want for the particular occasion.
I noticed something, the seduce trait I think got absorbed into the Orion Species trait, as I couldn't find seduce amoung selectable traits, yet I still had access to the ability to seduce (which is really fun to use against the Undine btw). I can't be certain because I can't find my Species trait listed anywhere (does anyone know where to look for it?)
The Kit change sounds cool, but I haven't gotten to it yet.
Oh and my Slavers love fighting the Undine alot more then the Voth, I'm getting more loot from them then I have in a long time.
As for pickups I actually got a couple of purple drops during combat, a couple blue, and a ton of white and green.
So I had fun, it would have been more fun had I realized my warpcore and Impulse drive were not active sooner,,
I am just so tired... so tired...of constantly farming marks. I want to actually go into an instance with the hope of coming out with something new. Not just pointless green drops. Even the new gear is just a lateral move to everything else we already have.
i agree.
A new campaign would have been awesome (a big campaign); as i wrote before, i like all the new features; i meant the little things which add a + to the game (the tailor, the kits, the esd, the revamp of some space sets, the revamp of the rep system), but all the undine stuff is a waste of time.
i don't understand why they didn't do hybrid ships like the dsyons ships (weapons given with the rep are great -hybrid weapons-). I don't understand why undines are on bajor; i don't understand why the new stfs are so boring, we have already a bunch of boring stfs. i don't understand why there are playable undine ships.
The Bajor ground mission is fun and requires thinking.
The two space Undine missions are annoying, although the Assault one has a nice payout of marks and loot. I got like 80 or so marks for the assault, but only 18 for the kill planet eater babies mission. It seems inconsistent.
So the Undine mission that has the absolutely worst performance of any mission I've played in STO has the highest payout of marks.
Seriously, I know that I need a new comp, but I can't imagine this mission running smoothly on a new computer, unless it was custom tweaked. It has real performance issues for me.
It's so bad that I can't tell if my own ship is actually shooting anything. My settings are on low.

It's lagging pretty bad. I was 1 frame per sec I think in the battle zone. But then there must have been 30 allied ships in a tiny space.
The space zone dil payout is too low, but the zone itself is pretty cool.
The channels stf is way way too long (too many undine) for 30 marks - crazy. Though I liked the manner of closing rifts much better than mirror.
The kill the planet killers stf seemed good to me. I got 99 marks. that was with the bonus.
The featured episode and ESD are fantastic.
It's odd, I traited all the offensive traits and seem to do less damage. I switched one to shield regen and feel I'm as durable now as before when I had 3 defense.
One good thing about the new trait system is being able to switch out personal traits when going to the ground if you want to. I doubt I will often but it's still nice to be able to.
Overall, looks promising. I suspect I'll do the battlezone more than anything else.

Yeah I've been noticing the lag has been bad too. But I wonder how much of it is just a lot of traffic with the new season. I still have to log on live to see the new Esd on holodeck.
(On a side note with your last name being Cooper, I worry that you're another Species 8472 infiltrator.)
The channels stf is way way too long (too many undine) for 30 marks - crazy. Though I liked the manner of closing rifts much better than mirror.
Maybe there is a difference in the amount of marks depending on which ones we choose. I got like 80 Undine marks for an unremarkable run of this mission, whereas I only got like 18 fleet marks for the VC one. Perhaps if I chose Undine marks for it, the payout would have been much higher.
Anyway, there were minutes of that mission where my ship was just frozen. I don't like the idea of grinding a mission just to make the mission less annoying.
its the same dumb TRIBBLE mistakes again and again. the same grind gimmick instead of gameplay. expecting s9 to not suck my balls was really dumb of me since i know the devs refuse to make important changes to the game.
4 years and they only now got around to doing ANYTHING about galaxy x? Come on. that **** is still crooked. very unprofessional. a real game company wouldnt do that.
im going to go play an actual video game like star trek armada 3... which is actually more polished than this game has ever been.
My ship will barely move, I'm trying everything I can think it of, full impulse, evasive manvuevers, more power to engines, I'm still moving like a turtle and and I'm cursing the developers for making Fluidic Space so hard to move in.

THIS!!! THIS!!! I experienced THIS earlier today, not too long after logging in. And the funny thing is, knowing that season premiere days have always been a wreck, I was simply intent on testing out some fundamental and not at all taxing game mechanics. In other words, despite having spent countless hours playing today, I pretty much re-set my GFX settings, selected my traits, DOFF'ed, did bank/exchange/mail stuff at SFA, ran a few Borg Red Alerts whilst DOFF-traveling and explored the new ESD.
Biggest bump along the way was this ship equipment vanishing act. Glad to hear I wasn't the only one and upon reading your comment, I had to jump in and reply about this, as it drove my OCD self utterly mad at first.
In my case, I simply Transwarped from Zeta Andromeda to Sphere Allied Space to pick up some DOFF trading missions. Then beamed down to Dyson BZ ground and beamed (via Leave Battlezone) back up to DOFF the space above BZ. Mind you, at this point, my ship hadn't technically moved, so this vanishing ship equipment bug might've happened back at Zeta Andromeda, for all I know. Then I warped out of Dyson Space back to Tau Dewa.
And that's when I pretty much experienced what you experienced Omegaphallic. Quite possibly couldn't have expressed the frustration of it all better than ya already have too. At first I thought, 'Oi, is the traffic here at the Dyson Gate out of control or what? Can't get around these massive frakkin' Rommies in my almost as massive Oddy!'. And I had hit the autopilot to zip on over to the Regulus border, to virtually no response. I finally nudged my way, at literally snails pace, past the hulking Rommies, and then hit the slipstream button; which got me to the border.
When I crossed into Regulus, I noticed the same problem. It was only then that I checked my ship status screen and noticed several swapped and missing items. Where your impulse drives and warp core vanished...my warp core slot was completely empty and my Jemmie Mk XII shields had swapped with some blue Covariant shield, that I don't think was even in my inventory! Though, in hindsight, after checking bank and thoroughly checking inventory, I suspect that blue shield might've been originally equipped on my Delta Flyer shuttle. Also, my Oddy workbees and Subspace Field Modulator had swapped out with other space items that were in my inventory.
Thankfully, nothing went truly missing. And, revisiting the same flight plan, the bug hasn't reoccurred since it reared its ugly head initially. Yet, I racked my brain for a while and still haven't got a single clue as to what might've caused the gear to unequip and swap to begin with!
I'll bop back in here and give a full summary of S9 thoughts later, as recounting that bug tale has taken the type outta me.

amen. the ships they make us use are absolute eyesoar noob modeler garbage.

agreed but wont happen cuz devs dont care about you being killed by an explosiion the game story stopped you in the middle of.

its all grinding scam. they are expanding on scamming you wiht grinding instead of gameplay or critical thinking.

Undine Space Battlezone, not starting the planet killers... been there for 50 minutes all zones blue... no planet killers started and the clock was alsways at 3 mins or 2:47 mins
Also everytime i swap ship the ships special powers are lost. meaning the cruiser commands or sensor analysis are GONE. completely not even in the power tray that i can drag them manually.
loadout still is fubar.
AND the rep traits.... i have the exact same toon on tribble and slotted the same traits as on holodeck STILL on holodeck it is weaker and has different stats?? what happened there??
the 8472 content is all bulletsponge and glitchs. its so boring im just letting my team finish it up so i can see waht the rewards are like. i cant be bothered to play this grind gimmick anymore.
please devs, some critical and creative thinking. if you cant do it, hire people who can. the FLEETOPS guys and the ARMADA3 guys would love to work at this game, and they've done polished work for free. You guys do sloppy work for money. Think about it. One of these groups loves star trek, the other is just sloppy **** left right and center, and i paid for it.
I dont wanna be mean, but all your mistakes are stupid and consistant ones that could be fixed by PLAYING THROUGH YOUR OWN CONTENT JUST ONCE.
If you cant be bothered to do that, then it means it sucks and you cant expect others to do it. this game needs a fundamental change. headshots and subsystem aiming. without it, this game has a year, tops, thanks to **** management and complete lack of vision... and poor writing and voice acting... and other things. people are stupid, but not stupid enoguh to fall for grinding forever. Not forever. a while tho.
im gonna go do some drugs. make me feel smarter than i do grinding this not-videogame.

Cryptic... you are killing the fun.
Go **** yourself craptic. give me my money back. I want a game, not a gimmick. I'm not dumb enough to fall for this grinding like its new content you lazy derps.
I can do better than any one of your devs, at any job.
And nice claim, but back it up first or you won't be believed XD
Been playing STO since Open Beta, and have never regarded anything as worse than 'meh', if only due to personal standards.
Dont care if you believe me. after witnessing the work of sto, its enough to know someone who didnt go to school for 3d modeling or creative writing (me) can do better. Prove it? why? am i gonna get a job at sto? you want my resume, offer me a job.
Oh and thanks for killing off the chance gaining additional BNP's its much appreciated! And as for using the lame excuse that the reward drops were vague. Well all I can say I thought that was what the "Random" part of the loot drop came under.
Rep power changes: A completely unnecessary nerf.
New rep: Utter waste of time (see above).
So Sci glowy bits on Starfleet are normally blue, correct?
So guess what glowy colors I get?
Not blue! RED! NATURALLY! BECAUSE KDF!
IKS Korrasami (Fleet B'rel Bird of Prey Retrofit T5-U)
I start off by trying viscious cycle.
So I had fun, it would have been more fun had I realized my warpcore and Impulse drive were not active sooner,,
,lr
I don't understand why undines are on bajor; i don't understand why the new stfs are so boring, we have already a bunch of boring stfs. i don't understand why there are playable undine ships.
but the new mirror ships are great.
FE is great.
"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
Yeah I've been noticing the lag has been bad too. But I wonder how much of it is just a lot of traffic with the new season. I still have to log on live to see the new Esd on holodeck.
(On a side note with your last name being Cooper, I worry that you're another Species 8472 infiltrator.)
[/SIGPIC]
THIS!!!

[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
please devs, some critical and creative thinking. if you cant do it, hire people who can. the FLEETOPS guys and the ARMADA3 guys would love to work at this game, and they've done polished work for free.
