FED frigate carrier pets

I've been wondering:

Why don't the FEDs have a frigate-class hangar pet? I mean, the Klingons have the Birds-of-prey, the Romulans have their romulan drone ships, but what have we FEDs got?

True, you can get the ultra-rare ultra-expensive Jem'Hadar escort, or the Tholian mesh weaver, but the FEDs need something that everyone can buy.

I call for a frigate-class hangar pet for FED characters. Am I just being stupid, or is there some sense in what I'm saying?

Well, a defiant-class escort is a very powerful ship. The BOP for the Klingons is pretty much the lowest class frigate you could launch... I was thinking more of launching Miranda or Centaur class frigates from a FED ship, or something like that.

Thinking about it, the BOPs and Romulan Drone ships are pretty powerful...

The B'rel ones are very useless. They really don't do anything. The Orion Interceptors are one of the most OP pets you can get, they cheese more than Danubes.

Romulan drones are also a bit OP with their constant scrambles.

Nope what your saying makes plenty of sense and it has been said many times before but nothing ever comes of it.

The support Craft that the Oddy uses should also be used has a universal Frigate Class open to all Fed two hanger Carriers.

Why can't the fed atrox carrier have frigate pets?
At the VERY ABSOLUTE LEAST, they should be able to bring the frigates from the Jem Dread and Recluse over. And allow all other full carriers to do the same.

A carrier isn't a carrier without frigate pets.
Should I start posting again after all this time?

I think the New Orleans class would be perfectly suited as Frigate pet. Would really love it, if they'd release a playable Tier 1 version of that class which then would allow you to buy it as frigate pet version.

You have answered your own question.

STOP SPAMMING. Your tactics invalidate your argument and do, indeed, make you look like you are "being stupid". Say your piece once, and it has merits, and folks can re-debate this tired old topic yet again, fine. Spam it, and people are going to ignore your ideas (good or bad) out of annoyance with your sorry behavior.

For the record I currently have 4 threads with the same post in the current threads view --- all identical to this one. Maybe 5, I lost track. I don't need to see the same thing 5 times. No one does. If I see another one I will report all 5.

My apologies if this is not in accordance with standard forum etiquette. I was merely attempting to get a wide range of opinions on my question.

For example, By posting on both the general discussion thread and the Federation Gameplay thread, I have recieved a wide range of opinions on the subject. I have seen 3 comments on each section, all from 6 different people.

OP - did you know that as a FED you weren't originally supposed to have access to ANY carriers at all?

They were originally exclusive to the KDF, however (as per normal) when the KDF gets ANYTHING half descent, FEDs seem to whine loud enough to get what they want. Now, having said that - with all the changes that have happened in the game over time - I suppose I wouldnt be opposed to FEDs getting Miranda hangar pets. There would have to be limits to it of course . . . but-meh.

You can look at it this way.

What you see in the movies* and in the tv series, chances are, you will see here.

Given that this is a Starfleet centric game, chances are, we will never see true carriers or for that matter frigate-pets made by Starfleet.

We are more likely to see another race provide these assets as an ally.

We are more than likely to see that in some future expansion, say the Delta Quadrant.

What race, what they will be like, are anyone speculation.

*no JJverse timeline stuff though. They don't own THAT IP.

This isn't standard forum etiquette anywhere. Please refrain from spamming multiple threads in the future, one will suffice, the search function exists for a reason.

The reason you have different people in each thread (or did...I've now merged them) is people don't post in your shipyard thread, wander over to General Discussion and go 'Oh, look that guys posted here, I will too!'

Here's the thing about the federation carriers and why the federation does not have frigate pets for them. Strictly speaking, there are only three federation ships that have hangar bays, one of which isn't a starfleet design. We know that the Atrox is capable of fitting 4 Runabouts/Delta flyers per hangar and there are 2 hangars.

As for the other two federation ships, both have 1 hangar bay in total, though initially the Gal-X didn't have such. Both are able to house a total of 6 fighters or 4 delta flyers or runabouts. The only frigate that is federation specific is the Miranda (under the NPC classification). We know that through the cross faction ships that the federation has access to Jem'hadar attack ship as a frigate. If we look at the playable stats for a miranda vs. the bug ship, we see that the miranda has 4 times the amount of crew that the bug ship has.

I think the current carriers that we have simply don't have the room to hold a Miranda class (since a miranda is pretty big, too big compared the the Heavy Escort carrier). The closest thing that the feds have that hold the same amount of crew as the bug ship would be the Aquarius destroyer, the ship that detaches from the c-store Odyssey. However, since this ship is as large as a shuttle bay, this means that this ship is also too large to be housed in any of the current hangars that the federation access to outside of lock box ships.

There may be a day that the federation might feel that a carrier large enough to launch Mirandas from it*, but it'll have to be in response to something that will threaten the entire galaxy, such as the Iconians. Until that day comes, I doubt the federation will get such a thing. The only other option is to create a carrier that fills the same kind role that ships like the Vo'quv currently does for the Klingons.

*The Enterprise J looks big enough to house mirandas, but the ship will not be added to the game due to how it is.

thats funny, i don't recall the klingons having carriers in canon either, but hey who cares about canon.

the only faction that had a carrier in canon were the remans with the scimitar and the scorpion fighters.

considering how KDF has carriers with BoP pets(lol), there is no reason for the feds not to have their frigates(or hell let the FEDs use the saber-class as a pet).

I thought the jem'hadar had carriers, and would a cube launching a sphere count as a frigate pet?
Back on topic though I think it would be nice to have frigate pets on fed carriers. But as has already been said I don't think any of the current FED ships with hangar bays are really large enough for any of the suggested ships. Perhaps given the size of the atrox something could be added but that's not a federation design.
again as has been previously mentioned I can't see it as impossible that they would design such a vessel given the escalating unpleasantness the federation seemingly now faces.

not really, the jem dread(battleship in canon) wasn't a carrier and the sphere was more of a "huge escape pod" so to speak for the cube.

vo'quvs shouldn't be able to launch BoPs , the way i see it, it would make sense for BoPs to "warp in" rather than "launch" from the vo'quv, they're too large(they're 110m + ou -), so if a vo'quv is allowed to "launch" a BoP, a Jem'dread(which doesn't even have a hangar) is allowed to launch anything, a kar'fi which also doesn't have hangars can launch frigs/fighters, why shouldn't the feds get a frig-type pet, really there is no reason to oppose it, its not like it will affect pvp either(i doubt cryptic will release something better than the elite runabouts).

We first need a Caitian Frigate to go with the Atrox Carrier. The Atrox Carrier and Obelisk Carrier are the only Carriers in the game that don't come with their dedicated Frigate. Either by being awarded with the Carrier or available through some other method like owning the JHAS to get JHAS pets on the Dreadnought Carrier.

Brilliant idea IMO. If this is the case, I hope there's a playable version of it too.

I think the main reason that the feds don't have a frigate pet is that frigates are all bound to only full carriers.

And since the only full carriers available to feds are alien It makes sense that there aren't Miranda pets.

maybe we could get a caitan frigate pet but until there is a Starfleet designed full carrier I don't see a reason to have Starfleet frigate pets.

Aquarius... not sure why it's a player ship, about only as good as a poor mans Defiant, (before someone tricks one out, though still...)

Slightly reduced versions of the Aquarius would work nicely for a Frigate pet. They work well enough as Odyssey support pets, would wish that that version, would become a frigate 'pet' console, that has it's own Carrier UI and exp growth advancement mechanic.

From 'that' make separate frigates, Basic, Advanced and Elite versions. Not like this isn't possible, as Obelisk fighters were originally pinned to the Obelisk, but then they made Fleet versions off the Spire, that any carrier could use.

    And so...
