Wrong again, Professor. I'm talking about the Romulan engineering doff that you can't claim, AND the stupid cadet scanning event that Cryptic wants me to spend over four hours running all my toons through. Now imagine the repetitive borefest that someone with 20 toons is going to have to endure.
I dare you... DARE YOU to go to Gpotato and spend only a month playing their games and say that about Cryptic again.
I dare you.
Ugh, I've done that actually. Gpot really is the worst of the worst. I've tried playing several games from them, only to have them shut those games down due to their horrible, horrible mismanagement. They absolutely do not care at all about their players. They will seriously laugh at you on their forums.
One of their games got shut down because they only released it with PVP servers. Without a PVE community it died a very quick death. Maybe 3-4 months from release to shut down. That game was then sold to Netmarble (another horrible company) who tried to "revamp" it and remarket it. Many of us told Netmarble that all they had to do was release the original game with a PVE server. They ignored us and tried to do their revamp. Eventually one of their reps, GM Neume, told us that we were just fearmongering and that if we didn't like the game, we could leave. So we did. 1 month later, they shut the game down again. No one was surprised. Shortly after that, Netmarble sold off all their games and I believe they shut down the company.
So yeah, after seeing what's out there and being personally insulted by their GMs, Cryptic is wonderful company compared to those bumbling fools. Never again Gpot, never again.
2. You say Cryptic is "best", yet you say that? You're not making a lot of sense.
And you haven't really made any compelling arguments about how Cryptic isn't awesome.
3. Ignoring the fact that Cryptic listens to us constantly, then saying "At least Game X Devs are listening to the playerbase" isn't a valid argument.
I wasn't giving my time to you.
1. No, you cant.
2. I dont need to. If by now you dont know why cryptic is the "best" of creating bugs and not fixing em, its too late for you..
3. Are you high? cryptic listen to us constantly? dude, are you sure we are playing the same game? Cryptic NEVER listened to their customers. Not since i started playing about 10 months ago.
Lemme guess, you disagree because most of Gpotato's games are merely translated by them while Cryptic actually develops games? Yeah, there's a lot more to that. Customer support, player/team member communication, etc. Call me when Cryptic ignores your ticket sending because your account got TRIBBLE the wrong way.
3. Are you high? cryptic listen to us constantly? dude, are you sure we are playing the same game? Cryptic NEVER listened to their customers. Not since i started playing about 10 months ago.
No need to be personal. This is only about a game. I'm not attacking you.
Yeah, they do listen to their customers. But my definition of "listen" is they read what they can of our input, then consider if it's best for the game or not. If their reason not to implement something is greater than the reason to implement it, it's not getting implemented. My definition of "listen to" is not "everything the vocal minority says gets implemented".
Let's see... they listened to the complaining about the game being "Escorts Online" a while back and have been steadily increasing the usefulness of non-tactical ships ever since. They listened to our request for swimsuits in the summer event. They listened to us about making rep grinds easier for alts. Hell, they're making rep grinds easier overall. And those are just examples I thought of off the top of my head.
Sorry but the claim "Cryptic NEVER listened to their customers." is demonstrably wrong.

They weren't always horrible. Course that was in 2004.
Ah, that was before my time with them. I think I started with them in...2009? 2010? They were beyond saving at that point.
Although that kind of makes it even worse. To think that a company could fall that far. It's scary.
Eh, I didn't have that much experience with Gpotato back then. It was only Flyff. The GMs regularly logged on and actually PLAYED with the players, spawning hundreds of bosses for us to kill and loot, among other things. But things went downhill from there and never ever slowed down...
Ah yeah, I heard that Flyff is their main game. I never had a chance to try it out, and after my experiences with them, I don't plan on it lol.
And man, I just went back over there and checked up on them. Every single game that I've played from them has been shut down. That's at least 5 in the last few years. That's just over the top. I didn't spend any money with them, so I escaped that mess thankfully. Yeesh.
should point out the doff for doing the particle trace mission is random, the Reman (kdf)/Exocomp(Fed) is earned by simply taking to the commendation doff store NPC and picking up a 2 second mission.
Everywhere I look, people are screaming about how bad Cryptic is.
What's my position?
That people should know what they're screaming about!
(paraphrased from "The Newsroom)
Ah yeah, I heard that Flyff is their main game. I never had a chance to try it out, and after my experiences with them, I don't plan on it lol.
Yeah so uh... I've heard that Flyff's in-game economy is so bad nowadays, one trade window won't even hold enough Perin(1bill of their normal currency each) in stacks of 99 to buy one end-game set of jewelry.

Pretty much all the MMO's I played are gone too. In fact, many of the publishers themselves are now gone too. :P
Sadly, there's a reason MMO's have the reputation they do. In that light it makes PWE seem rather benevolent.
Wrong again, Professor. I'm talking about the Romulan engineering doff that you can't claim, AND the stupid cadet scanning event that Cryptic wants me to spend over four hours running all my toons through. Now imagine the repetitive borefest that someone with 20 toons is going to have to endure.
Yeah, the Romulan thing is annoying, but since Romulans can pick up the purple doff from whichever faction they are aligned by going to their academy it's not really rant worthy to me, just more of a "was thing thing tested on tribble at all?" thing.
The academy event is the academy event that has been in the game since the beginning. It's not like they created some new grind for this. Just recycled an existing one that has always, in my opinion, been more of a time sink than anything.
You know that is my problem these mmo companies should not be trying to see who can be the worse at running their perspective games, they should be trying to fix bugs and have their games run smoothly while listen to their player base.
I have been here since open beta and I have seen this game fall so far downhill when it comes to bugs and "ADJUSTMENTS" that I rarely even try to have a forum conversation on it anymore, sadly I take more and more breaks from STO nowadays.
But the thing that kills me from as long as I can remember is that cryptic quality assurance every patch makes me wonder if they even listen to feedback at all.
Each new patch brings new bugs into the game more then the any other mmo I have played in recent years, that and their schemes to get more money out of us makes me less then driven to play especially with all the new and improved grind I just sit back and wonder why I even log in at all anymore.
So I wonder do they even care or are they even read and or listening to our feelings on the issues at hand or are they just making sweeping changes to try to nickle and dime us more while letting the game slowly die, if this were not star trek I am certain this game would most likely have died years ago...
This is going to seem like a shocking notion, but have some of you considered perhaps this Particle Troll business isn't actually for you?
I mean, yes, the mission is horrible, inane, and an exercise in trolling, but consider: Some people don't have doffs. A purely doff-XP-only event would be of little use to those who don't have any doffs worth using. This is the other side of the event catering to those who have no doffs. Those who are new, and probably far less irritable and cranky than us older veterans, that, like children, can easily be distracted by the notion of running in circles and screaming. Children are such stupid creatures.
The rest of us can just go and doff. Complaining more about this particular side of the event is like complaining that the playground rides are too small and fundamentally inane. They aren't for us.
What bugs?? ok, can you go to the gameplay bug reports section please??
Only reading this, it makes me to shut up and stop listening to dumb people. Obviously you are stupid or u play since 2 days ago. I cant find any other explanation. Sorry if i am so rude.
About the new "un"appreciation event. I am sick tired of it. I did it on 4 of my 6 toons and iam already really tired of it. 75 particle fragments is a stupid ammount.
Only for a crappy purple doff, that will be useful, nobody will doubt that, but honestly its not worthy the boring grind of 75 particles. Sadly cryptic will never learn.

How about you not copy paste the same response more than one forum topic please, I understand this might not be for everyone, but we were trying to get a point across that clearly you missed or do not care nothing about , bugs and unfun grinds are not what STO is suppose to be about or what it use to not be about...

Cryptic only do things thinking in profit. So, they will never waste time or resources fixing bugs. They have a uni-dimensional thinking. Thats the reason, even if players want things to have fun, if those things will not have profit, cryptic will never do em. Thats the reason all the content cryptic is launching is not focused to enjoy the game, but to keep grinding and selling stuff to the players.
STO is not a "game" anymore, most of the times is a grind fest where you need to do your job daily instead of enjoying a game. But this will never change, since , as i said millions of times, people keep buying everthing. People keep buying monthly subs. People keep buying life time subs. People keep buying cstore stuff. And so on. So, cryptic will never change. This will end in a impossible to play game (due to all the accumulated bugs) and a grind plattform where only a couple of rich players are still playing. Eventually, the game will be dead. And i dont think this will happen in more than 1-2 years. At this rate.

GRIN, GRIND, GRIND YOUR WAY, GENTLY THROUGH SPACE, merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, LIFE IS BUT A GRIND.
Thank you very much. I for one refuse to play the rat race of grinding. I have had enough grind between last year and Tuvok to last me a life time.
This makes the OP look much wiser, to be honest. He learned fast that this mini-game was terribad and saved a lot of wasted effort by quitting early.
A game to open boxes where 75% contain nothing is not funny nor fun. I second the OP on that.
Also, agreed, not having the romulan is shoddy development.
The OP is spot on about this "event". I disagree that cryptic is the worst ever blah blah but this sort of thing is not winning them any fans.
