You know....technology was supposed to make life easier, not make everything confusing.

Well, all I can really say is that a huge part of our world is currently run by computers. Your car, your TV, your refrigerator, etc - heck, even my riding lawnmower is run by computer. It is imperative to have at least a base understanding of how they function and what they do because in the coming years the use of computers is only going to get bigger, not smaller, in your daily life. No one should be ignorant of something that has that much impact on their life.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

Computers need to have a "Geezer Mode." I never heard of internet until 2006, and I didn't even have a computer until 2008.

I have found that the proven tried and true will always trump new fangled technology stuff. A computer might be faster, but it lacks good old fashioned Human ingenuity. And all the computer stuff just adds nothing more than more and more ways the thing can fail, and are expensive to fix. Machines and alalog dials and switches are much more accurate, are cheaper, and easy to fix. For example, a car where you can pull out the engine, fix it yourself, put the engine back in, and the car runs better than it did before, will trump all these driving computers. And when (not if, WHEN) these driving computers break, you have to bring it to a specialist, and get charged into oblivion. The MiG-21 was all analogue dials and switches, but pilots loved it.

Maybe for some...but then "these driving computers" fall, to me, under the heading "a car where you can pull out the engine, fix it yourself, put the engine back in, and the car runs better than it did before." Hell, just like an old '67 Mustang, I can tweak one off the showroom floor to make it run better than it did before. :P

The technology's just different, not superior or inferior. The only issue is whether one has the knowledge/training/experience needed to understand it.

Methinks that in this instance "geezer" is less age, and more a particular state of mind.

Seems like the servers are okay to me. I logged in and out repeatedly over the last couple hours.

Not in a position to check it, but ever since the hamster died during Mirror (not talking about that router problem that followed a few days later), I have had server issues. Before then, everything worked fine. Now I am to expect a disconnection after 30 minutes, followed by a lot of issues when I try to get back in the game. I run next to STO at least Skype, Steam and TeamSpeak, mostly Chrome as well. My computer can take this, my issues only began when Freddy the Hamster had a heart attack and Johnny the Hamster took over.
