If I can't make my Space Bikini Commandos dream come true, it IS a waste.

Edit: I'm actually not being sarcastic. I don't see how having my away teams be Space Bikini Commandos be any less "immersion breaking" than dozens of other things we see daily in STO. immersion is a ship that sailed, on the docks now we have simply fun and good times, personally I think we are on the better boat now, so we NEED the ability to have all outfits be in the uniform category and be usable by everyone, even boffs.

STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

Considering they're letting players fly Undine ships, I see no reason for anyone to complain about things being non-canon.

I thought everyone knew that the more skin a woman is showing, the higher their AC. So using swimwear in combat only makes sense.

What does Victorias Secret say about my power level? :D

I think it is ridiculous that they are restricting swimwear to Risa only. They will make us grind a fortune for the outfits then say oh.. You cant use that anywhere else. Put them in the off duty slot, we need more options there anyways.

And I know some people will say it breaks their immersion to see people wearing something that shows some skin. Immersion doesnt exist in this game when a Voth Bastion cruiser warps in next to a Jemhadar dreadnaught piloted by a federation admiral.

The Non-Orion in question is probably an Orion whose skin colour is the lightest shade of green. In most lighting conditions, Orions with the lightest shade can look human. Just look at my avatar and signature...those shirtless characters are male Orions.

As for the upcoming Risa debacle, words cannot express how disappointed I am with their intent to ensure that males (except for Orions and Gorn) cannot be shirtless in game unless its in one zone only. This quote says it all....
If you think Cryptic is going to let males in a Speedo or shorts only bathing suit run around ESD then I have some farmland in Antarctica to sell you.

I know nothing is final until the event is live, and there is still player feedback that I hope is to be considered. But I can tell you with absolute certainty, that if Cryptic stays on course and refuses to allow non-Orion / Gorn male characters to be shirtless outside of Risa, then I, after being in this game almost continuously since beta, will quit STO for good. I've just had it with the gender bias of this particular dev team (funny how other Cryptic games like Champions, Neverwinter and the original City of Heroes have no issues with males being bare-chested).

No, not the off duty slot, then I can't use them with bridge officers.

Please put them with the rest of the costume options kthxbye.

I don't mind the Risa limitation. Though that depends on the grind to get them - with the incredibly small number of places we can use it, there had better be a equivalently small price tag.

Wh... what? I don't play those other two games so I can't really compare but STO has probably the most forward-thinking and non-cheesily written inclusiveness of gender and sexual equality I've ever encountered. But if you can't see that for the lack of sweet abs, then maybe it's you who's got the gender bias. :\

You know, I don't see what the big deal is or why there would be a limitation. Orion females can wear what is basically a bikini with a loin cloth (and since last year's summer festival, can replace the loin cloth with a string of flowers, making it more of an actual bikini), so why not have Federation-sanctioned swimwear? What if it's in a character's (captain or bridge officer) background that they wear little or revealing clothing. And along those lines, ever been to Nimbus III? It's hot there and Starfleet uniforms can be quite hot in climates like that lol. :D
I also agree that if we're going to grind Lohlunat Favors to get these outfits, we should be able to wear them wherever we want.

Its bad enough we're going to have to grind them, but the fact we can't even use it, is just plain ridiculous!

I meant to put this here too...

I started a thread in the Art section regarding issues like the Risa swimwear restrictions.

I know there will be resistance, but I think if you want these items to be in the game in respect of the lore, perhaps we should really try to convince Cryptic to make it so.

Wait, the devs are doing things based on what makes sense again?

And here I thought the whole Undine Lockbox thing meant we were past that...

It's been settled to my satisfaction that the non-Orion in question was using tailor glitches to get Orion costume parts. They were not Orion as they had extremely pointed ears (more so than Vulcans or Romulans even) and spotting on their forehead.

The issue that I see being a real problem with Swimwear is that it would end up useless for most of the KDF the day the Summer Festival ends, since they no longer have Access to Sirius block, unless they've reached lvl. 3 Marauding, which can potentially take months of work. So Cryptic would basically be SHAFTING THE KDF AGAIN!!!

I should clarify on my statement so it isn't misinterpreted...
My problem is with swimwear being Locked to Risa and thus TRIBBLE the KDF. I'm all for Swim Wear. My Ferengi is going to be a sexy beast in his Speedo.

I still think they should remove the stupid Orion Bikinis, or at least make them a Risa costume option only.

Well there is something we haven't seen before, the KDF getting ripped off.

just to let you know the cost of the swimwear (and why I did not get a chance to try it) was 1000 favors.

The prices ranged from 500 to 2000 - the 1000 was just for the male shorts I believe - but to get all the options for just a female is about 14,000 favors.

    That's a lot of "Grinding"

Meaning KDF and KDF Aligned Rommies are basically screwed unless they have lvl.3 Marauder, which can take months to reach.

I really really don't get it.
Kdfs are asking for costumes for 4 years now, Feds have a wish list too, and romulan could also use a few additional ones.

Cryptic has no time for that: they have to design a set of costumes that only work in one area.

Of course they dont lol. All the time they need is focused on the new season and all the new content, and it will be that way forever. Seriously guys u still dont realize?? hahaha.

We are lucky if we see 1 important bug fixed in 1 year, so you asking for new costumes??? lol. Wait... hahahaha, wait more.. hahahahaha.

I also think klingons are forgotten in costumes, i am really waiting to be able to give my ferasan another outfit :(, and with all the tailor issues i am even afraid of buying something from the lobi store. But yes, klingons.. wth. The only outfit you have is the klingon academy lol, and its really ugly.

I have no issue with Cryptic restricting bathing suits to vacation spots like Risa. If that is the stipulation for getting something nice in the Summer Event, so be it. I rather have something cool, but situational, rather than nothing at all.

I take it from your avatar and signature that you don't find it a little bit juvenile? Sort of thing to appeal to horny spotty teenagers stuck indoors all day?

Not being a prude at all, but if you just want sex appeal then TRIBBLE is easy to come by and it's not like the Orion bikinis add anything to the game.

I wouldn't remove the Orion female costume. But I would fix it where people couldn't use it to get around Cryptic's prohibition on the matter. The outfit was meant to be worn with a loin cloth, after all.
