I'd like to note (maybe a little OT, but I feel that it's necessary in this case) that the discussion that we've been having here is EXACTLY why I love STO and the STO forums.

Where else could a revamp of the head cosmetics of video game characters inspire such an intense, polite, vivacious debate about xenobiology and anthropocentrism?

    So much win.

Now when are they going to update the ridiculously bad hair in this game?

    Gee, I dunno, soon I hope. :P

really? you thought the setslottype code helped break the immersion of the game by mix/matching unlocked costume pieces? have you seen some of the characters running around in-game? it's like some of these characters were the hellspawned offspring of barney the dinosaur and a garbage-pail kid.

but for real though, bring back that setslottype code. i have a bridge crew decked out in honor guard and would like to make some adjustments. kk thx.

I have a Federation Gorn Character, decked out with an entire Boff staff of Gorn. Unfortunately, due to my shortsightedness in the past, they are all green doffs. I want to upgrade to purple...but SOMEONE removed the setslottype command. I am not pointing any fingers here...

    CRYPTIC!

Only in STO will the devs leave game breaking glitches alone, and patch the ones that give the players more choice.

I would give anything to have the setslottype command back.

Once the influence of guiding isn't present in a population, it is most likely that natural mutations take over in the main determining factor of evolutionary direction. The life forms resulting from the guided path will only stay that way for so long.........Maybe we're not on the same page here though.

No we're not. You have described an active effect without which you have "normal" evolution. That's diety driven intelligent design, not any sort of intelligible mechanism to expect a civilization to be able to utilize (just try explaining how they're successfully guiding mutation rates or selection pressures for every seeded planet across the galaxy. You'll quickly find yourself discussing theology that, at the very least, isn't supportable with established ST canon.)

Consider instead that the preservers most reasonably created a bias in the developmental trajectory of a primitive, seedable, microbial community that would, over billions of years and across billions of planets, produce humanoids far more often than chance would otherwise allow (perhaps at the level of upstream developmental patterning genes if you need fodder for the customary ST technobable.) The effect on the resulting biosphere of each of those seeds is therefore statistical in nature, which means that you can't separate the effect out between humanoid and non-humanoid species (because while not every species will become fodder for a TNG/VOY alien of the week, EVERY evolutionary history in the galaxy has been skewed by preserver-bent probabilities.)

Why are you people assuming that aliens adhere to Earth biology. Just because it looks like a reptile doesn't mean it has to follow Earth reptile rules seeing as it's as unrelated as possible to earth reptiles.

I'm not saying slapping TRIBBLE on it and calling it female isn't silly, but trying to argue against it with completely inapplicable logic is just as silly.

Exactly how I feel. However, TRIBBLE on reptiloids is a scarifice I'm willing to make for a little sexual dimorphism. In my opinion, it's a very small price to pay.

It'd be a lot less of a problem if the bust slider went smaller...

Seriously, STO isn't quite as bad about this as Champions Online, but I have seen female characters at ESD with DDD-cup or bigger TRIBBLE in skintight Seven of Nine outfits.

Such an outfit is literally impossible to put on without help (heck, it even cuts off the airway, according to Jeri Ryan herself), needs to be taken off whenever the wearer needs to use the bathroom, takes ten minutes or more to put on and take off, and would be physically impossible to don in a woman with that high a bust-to-neck size ratio.

In a nutshell, I want more realistic outfits and smaller TRIBBLE. And a muscle definition slider wouldn't hurt; Three currently looks all lanky in-game when she's supposed to be a burly Terminator type.

    Anyway. Rant over.

    Love it! :)

P.S. Does this also mean we'll finally be able to change the looks of the Embassy boffs? Please, say yes.

This is the first time I've seriously considered returning to STO since the release of Season 8. I'm very impressed by this change.

I would hope in this revamp you will fix the issue of not being able to have a 4'-6" Alien Romulan female. The smallest you can make them is 5'-6" but all other aliens can be 4'-6".

    Thanks in advance.

I think it's more annoying that we can't load alien skins from other factions to them. :<

Though if we could, I'd imaging they'd have the same settings.

...why would you want them that short? What exactly are you trying to make?

    These changes are just awful.
Has anyone been on tribble and seen them? The new body skin textures just look awful, bony and gnarly.
And the faces of my characters that I have spent HOURS on have had their proportions changed and look completely derpy.
I can even count individual ribs on my female Orion now....

Please scrap this piece of Season 9
    Its not worth it.

Not only do some adult female humans never grow past that height, when you increase leg/torso length, a 'short' character gains more height, making their body type look vastly different than normal characters.

The link in my sig demonstrates this effect, except the opposite way(increasing height but shrinking legs/torso and other body parts to look 'thicker')

    Why thank you! :o

I'm just getting tired of seeing literally a million female characters with Barbie Doll proportions.

Considering how many of the female employees and even a few of the male employees have TRIBBLE, you'd think they'd be able to do a better representation of them in a game. At least in champions, they would make sense for a superhero costume, but here in Star Trek, it just looks terrible. For some reason, most of the tweaks they make really seem to throw off the legs as well, so i have to end up placing the female sliders as high as they go, just to get something resembling a woman who isn't starving or just oddly proportioned.

When they tossed LoR out there halfassed, they really should have put in the effort to make an actual Character Creator 2.0 rather than just slapping that title on a different UI. For Crying out loud, they still haven't even made the infected skin full body yet, and they have people paying $300 just to play as liberated captains. They just need to bite down on their pride and fix these things.

ahh genetics, where would we be without them eh? women come in different shapes and sizes, some cant go bigger then size A some can naturally get G size on their bodies, but clearly by eating certain things is that possible and a little exercise i would imagine, apart from this however the average size is usually D cup, so really i dont see what is true about that comment. the sizer should stay however i do think the body shape should be adjusted accordingly to give a more realistic look if you want.

since this whole thing is going on, the male torso need to be in size with the legs, a huge torso with fat arms and scrawny hips and limited sized legs looks really really stupid.
    T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW.

Now they just need to rework BOff traits to include a set of physical traits and mental/emotional dispotion traits, with each system giving you four or five module slots per BOff.

Disposition examples with default racial traits included:

Vulcans: "Controlled Emotions", "Logical", + 3 more slots
Romulans: "Suspicious", "Devious", + 3 more slots
Klingons: "Quick Temper", "Vicious", + 3 more slots
Gorn: "Xenophobic", "Quick Temper", + 3 more slots
Andorian: "Suspicious", "Quick Temper", + 3 more slots

Not exact but you get the idea.

Kestrel mentioned long ago she'd like something like this implemented as it would make it easier for storytelling purposes.

Tie these into the system in such a way that a scripted mission can quickly scan the bridge crew disposition traits, physical traits, character class, rank/position, etc. and determine the most likely character to pop up and say "X" in a given situation. They could even tie in the character's stance to this system.

This would prevent (or at least severely limit) situations wherein a Vulcan BOff gets emotional or your rebellious "Tom Paris" type first officer says something a "by the book" Tuvok type would be more likely to say, etc. as multiple responses could be created based on these traits and the given situation. Its only text, right?

Then again, it seems like I'm noticing lately that one or two persistent crew members I've never heard of (same face and name) are popping up and delivering the responses instead, especially if most of my Bridge Crew is with me on an Away Mission.
    Exactly, cheers.

I wish we could do a group portrait with out crews.
