Another 1st Contact Day ruined

AGAIN!!!

The Same TRIBBLE again!, I like having the flag ships around don't get me wrong, but the same pets, same prizes for a third year in a row, not many people are without these things barely anyone uses space pets anymore, and it's just so tacky now (barring the romulan stuff)

I've got more phoenixes than I can handle, turn them into disposable hangar pets then they'd be useful. CHANGE THE DAMN REWARD!!!

Do a Cochrane coat, or a tribute to worf's one handed blade we often see him use, SOMETHING DIFFERENT!!!

    Not everyone has the Phoenix so they can't remove it from the event, but since the event is active for 4 days, then they could do a daily where you can pick a different reward each day.

    Eh, they said the Rom and Klingon ones have little sorta-mini-missions attached (if I read the blog right), and honestly why does it need to be any different? Its just a for-fun little thing anyways. Besides, given how we've been one grind after another since the end of last November, I'm happy to see something grind free that won't mess with my mechanics at all. There's something to be said for 'for the heck of it' content.

    Meh... You're just angry at yourself for getting the Pet on all your chars last year...

    No need to punish the new guys for that.
    Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...

    Meh ... could be way worse ... they could force you to do a stupid mission 5 times i.E., at least this one is "really" free stuff (even if it's nothing special) ... besides the Romulan Thing is completely new ...
    Patch Notes : Resolved an Issue, where people would accidently experience Fun.

    Oh, but I wanted to go to the academy and guess which present Q was hiding in for a pitiful amount of Qmmendations, every day, for 3 weeks, until I had saved up enough to do the First Contact Day rep project and get my Phoenix pet!

    Please, never complain about stuff given without a grind. Or we might never get any again.

    If we had something else than a pet, we would have to run a crappy minigames for 14 days, and have the ability to purchase it from an overpriced lobi store.

    So, I take the pet, say thank you, and I'm glad this is not another grindversary.

    according to the blog there is one reward for each faction -

    nanov non-combat ground pet for romulan
    replica of the Phoenix for fed
    Tritanium Rending Bat’leth for kdf

    and the rewards are only available for characters who have not already received one.

    When I think about everything we've been through together,

    maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

     and if that journey takes a little longer,

    so we can do something we all believe in,

     I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

    As a father of a newborn baby I'm lucky to login once a week, grinds don't work for me (they never have much) so a 'log in and get' is fantastic.

    This idea that a free gift ruins a First Contact is absurd. You wanna know about a bad First Contact.

    I scratched my nose in front of a Delta Quadrant species. Ended up being chased off the planet because that scratch apparently meant I was in league with their demon deity and I plan to pillage their worlds and force myself sexually onto their wives and daughters.

    Thank the Prophets I didn't scratch my crotch because that one is even WORSE.

    You mean you're not? I mean its a little awkward Fed-side, but for Klingons and Romulans thats standard protocol.

    How about no, eh? Just because you think the First Contact day is ruined, doesn't mean other players feel the same way.

    By the way, the Romulans weren't in the game in April of 2013, so the reward for them is new. As someone had already pointed out, some players don't have the pets on all of their characters, so they have to keep the mission the same for them.

    OP has a point. This years gift should have been a flyable fleet Phoenix with 5 universal seating, 8 fore weapon slots, 1.43 shield modifer, 42k hull strength, 23 turn, battle cloak, singularity powers and ten tactical consoles.

    Then it shall be enough.

    I love First Contact Day. Sadly, I was so busy with the mirror event that I didn't even bother with it the first day. Yes, I know that to a large extent my mirror woes were self-inflicted, but with the death of crafting and the insane piles of dilithium needed to build my fleet's holdings and acquire new gear for my characters, the temptation was too great to resist. I hope the dilithium weekend returns. Whose idea was it to have weekend events only on alternate weekends?

    Eh. The new people and the Romulans need their chance to get their cheap souvenir, too, you know. You don't HAVE to attend. It's not like this is a mandatory grind that you MUST partake in to avoid missing something. We just had like 2 or 3 back to back grinds. It's not all about you.

    I don't care that much about the rewards being the same. New rewards for Feds and KDF would be awesome, but it's not terrible that there are none. What I HATE is that they are reusing the old dialogues. I would love to hear what our flagship crews think about the new developments in STO like the Dyson spheres, the Undine etc.

    This is a no-win scenario for Cryptic, I think.

    If the change the reward, everyone, who doesn't have the old one, will whine about it.

    If the don't change the reward, people, who already have the old one will whine about it.

    In WoW, they don't have changed most of the seasonal events in years, which means that a lot of the new areas don't even are included.

    The event was always intended to be a lore-type event. You get to celebrate a lore holiday and meeting some of the main characters of the game. It isn't intended to be a major event like Risa or Q's Christmas land.

    Out of all the issues STO has since the beginning of this year, I think this has to be the least rantworthy thing in game.
