    The beaches eroded. The Federation started a Coastal Regeneration program in Puerto Rico. Massive amounts of sand were transported to the island in order to save it.

    If you want to go by soft cannon, the Eugenics War happen in the 1990's as already stated. Also, one book I read (which title eludes me) that took place after the events of STIV stated that the vegetation of Earth grew at a exponential rate after the probe's departure.

    Just a couple of things to consider.

    Reminds me of that story line that just never got finished or started rather with the children of khan lol. A few fed missions and the 4028 but after that it kinda never went anywhere.
