Another Day, another rep to grind.

Well, at least the Dyson ground battlezone will still exist for all it's delightfully fun dil farming.

Unless the 8472 rep offers something that can rival (e.g. be lower priced than but with the same performance as) current rep items, I doubt I will bother farming this one seeing as we can no longer stack rep bonuses (aka rep traits) anymore.

For Season 10, more story content and a remastering of the old missions (DS9 arc for example) that are starting to look dated would be nice, not more grind-tastic reps and a new gameplay mechanic.

If you can't solve it logically, solve it like a moron.

51 + 1 Foundry Character Slots is NOT enough. Some of us love our characters. If I want to buy more character slots, why can't I? I couldn't experience the entire Delta Recruitment event without deleting a character.

The Iconians themselves can't time travel because their memories revert, but there is nothing to say an Iconian couldn't write everything she needed to do on a PADD, pin it to herself, travel back, read the PADD, do the tasks and return. Or just get one of her Non-Herald underlings to go back in time for her.

Want a Star Trek themed starship command fan-made Board Game that isn't fiendishly complicated but not so easy it's a joke? Download mine for free here. https://roebot56.deviantart.com/art/BOARD-GAME-R56-s-Starship-Command-STAR-TREK-Edn-682732468 A Stargate version of the game is available from a link in the description.

Oh yeah, I do Foundry missions for both KDFs and Feds. Just search KSTF (Short for Kinas Special Task Force, where Kinas is the name of the Admiral you will be serving under). The earlier ones are less story based and more combat based, while the later ones have a much heavier story element, but keep the large battles.

So, as one guy said earlier, is this going to replace the current Voth space zone? I've been tied up with the other reputations so I haven't had a chance to play it yet. Would hate to lose my chance on it. :(

Just to clarify this, the battlezone is a brand new space zone.

Lore-wise, it is located in a previously unreachable part of the Dyson Sphere.

No previous zones are going away.

I hope that clears things up!

Yay! Season 9, just became "The Sphere: Part 2" as far as I'm concerned. What's wrong with making an actual NEW "Fluidic Space" based adventure zone? Why must you guys rehash The Sphere from Season 8, but now with added Species 8472?

I'd love a fluidic space battle/adventure zone. More than just one one map we have right now.

I actually liked the Voth battlezone. It took you out of the 'lone hero' style and threw you in the nitty gritty with others. Reminds me a little of the Dominion War. I felt more like I was fighting a war than everything else up to that point.
I don't like the grind, but at least the zone is fun enough to take my mind off the fact it is a grind.

Personally I think a cloak change like that would be interestingly fantastic and could actually help to reduce vapers as a whole.

No longer would a cloaked ship be able to whip around willy-nilly searching for some poor sod to vaporize in a blink of an eye. Instead they'd have to make the choice of zipping around uncloaked, giving their targets an actual chance to defend for a change; or sulking around like a submarine waiting for the perfect prey to fall into their trap.

In fact the more I think about it, the better it sounds. Vapers would still exist but their ability to rain armageddon on an unsuspecting foe would be obliterated which is one of the problems with vapers.

    I hope this happens.

LMAO!!! :D You actually don't know what you're talking about, do you?

It'll get nerfed before long. Seen it happen in other games, it'll happen here too.

Because that would require an inordinate amount of effort on Cryptic's part.

We already know that the upcoming Expansion is going to be a further development of the story that started with S8. Hopefully by then we'll have blown up enough Undine (read: bought enough zen) to warrant Cryptic letting us use that hole in the Jenolan sphere and getting out to "explore" the Delta Quadrant...Sector Block.

Don't get me wrong, Devs, i'm under no illusion that making this was easy or quick, and i'm still looking forward to playing the content. But the way it's just a small add-on to the Sphere Battlezone (in comparison to S8's release, which included two space zones, one ground zone and two/four new PvE queues) it does look like Season 9 isn't going to be nearly as big a release.

As I said before, perhaps it should be renamed Season 8.75.

I see that logic, but on the other hand - dilithium just flows out of the sky in this game, cripes I play an hour or two a day and I never have less than a few hundred K of unrefined dilithium. It seems intentional across a lot of systems - you can make your 8K dilith a day just by logging in four times for thirty seconds each and running the Contraband DOFF missions. They seem to be fine with making it not a chore to earn if you only have a few minutes a day.

Because of the 8K/day bottleneck, they don't seem too concerned about the amount of unrefined dilithium flowing in to the game, so long as we can't actually use it.

Should they modify that cap, then I might expect to see some sort of balance pass on dilithium output game-wide.

Mentioned in one of the Tribble notes that the idea if making Cloak engage Red Alert that would of course disable full impulse (and other things, like extra hull regen since it would be in combat), I could dig but since the search function is the current mess thats pretty hard.

But still that was mentioned and since "player feedback" amounts to exactly nothing (unless its a excuse to nerf something they intended to do all along) I suspect that will happen.

If I am wrong then I ask for a Developer to say that I am*, otherwise I am going with my gut and say this is something that is planned, just like 4 mandatory ground traits.

*Not I ever believe any word that comes from the designers from this point on.

Sounds like they hired the "boost=threat" dev that worked at BSGO.... which would explain alot things transpiring lately... LOL!

Who writes this stuff ? This is nonsense.

You give us another rep but take stuff away?

The story line is so far off Trek I would say STO is on a serious acid trip and needs come down.

Content Designer Sean "Commander Ander" McCann is briefing everyone on the recent Undine incursion in the Voth Zone of the Dyson Sphere! Check out details about the newest Battlezone in this entry of the Season 9 News Dev Blog series.

    Link to the blog.

Looks cool, but the Voth battlezone has better rewards for about the same amount of effort, and I personally really like ground combat. So I'll probably only do the Undine battlezone as a novelty.

Bearing in mind that a "novelty" for me is something I play once or twice a month, maybe more often if I feel like it.

ugh I remember that. That was designed to increase rage and thus cubit sales.

This is EXACTLY what I was thinking. Hopefully if they do go this route it will last just as long. problem is this is cryptic we are talking about....

hmmm let me guess next z store item allows you to travel at full impulse under cloak say on a ship that costs what 1500 zen?

You know the Cryptic solution to that.
    Nerf the Voth Battlezone.

Can some Dev throw me a bone here and promise that the Voth Ground Battlezone rewards stay the same?

They haven't touched the ground battlezone rewards after turning the space zones into no-dil-zones*, why would they change them after adding another no-dil-zone?

    * of course there's still some of that purple rock to be found in the space zones, it's just so much less and more effort than the old daily missions it's not worth the time, imho

So... if the Voth Zone is gone... are the Voth being phased out or something? I'm talking storyline. I'm a bit confused. I thought we were expanding into a story about the Voth and the Iconians through their various ancient slave races. And now the Undine come back out of nowhere? What story are you telling here? Without an arc of episodes to explain things (which is what I thought seasons were supposed to be), I get bored, then lost. Fun, clever co-op gameplay in the context of a logical and entertaining story is what inspires multiplaying, not new opportunities for grinding, which I can already do (and keep doing) better alone.

I don't see how it's a radical idea to implement story-puzzles that require each of the 3 classes to do something necessary and repeatedly fun to do, as opposed to singleplayer dps maxing across the board, which is what battlezones perpetuate in the PvE sphere. Same with PvP. How hard is it to implement explicitly cooperative PvPing with other things to do besides pew pew boom boom? All the skills are just sitting there, unused.

There should be 'capture the flag' PvPing, simultaneous space to ground PvPing, where a team of ground fighters can stealthily infiltrate their opponents' base and sabotage it, etc, while their teammates in ships battle it out above. You know... Star Trek!

We have the Allied Zone and the Contested Zone. There was mention of a Voth Zone that was supposed to be introduced, but for whatever reason got delayed. My comment about this zone replacing the Voth Zone was in regards to that unreleased zone. After all, there is an accolade that mentions flying under the spire in the Allied, Contested, and Voth Zones. So either the Voth Zone still needs to be added or the Undine Battlezone is the Voth Zone.

Looks nice, however you won't see my ship there. I didn't really do the Voth ones after I kept finding not enough ships to help out on taking the spires. So I just stay in the allied area and do those missions. Unless I have time to play around the ground combat area.

Does anyone else think that Cryptic should make an in-game explanation that it took the Undine using their planet killers directly to fight the Voth, make it sound more like they had been on equal footing otherwise?

I guess I'm a still a little aggravated about losing passive skills that I worked on for hours to earn that Cryptic is stripping away.
You are not losing anything, you just cannot use them all at once, you still have them.

except for 50% of our active skills per region, yeah, sure.
    not losing anything. lol.

ill go voth zone to get that fly through spire accolade and be done with it.
this doesnt look tempting at all, awesome to have to wait months for it.

    Exactly.

But the Voth Zone were never something we could enter. So "replacing" is kind of wrong. There was nothing there to begin with.
The Voth Zone was planned to be opened up at some point... but now it's the Undine Battlezone.

You didn't play Step Between Stars after going through the gate to the other Dyson sphere? That part of the mission explains it pretty well...plus, there is still the next part of the mission. So, you'll get your explanation then.

The Voth Zone [aka the area controlled by the Voth (similar to the area controled by allied forces and the contested zone) aka the area marked on the Dyson Sphere's map on the far East as "Voth Zone" aka "the Zone that was not released"], has been infiltrated by the Undine, thus becoming the Undine Battlezone.

This is the "Voth Zone," but the Voth have lost control of it to the Undine.
