Content Designer Sean "Commander Ander" McCann is briefing everyone on the recent Undine incursion in the Voth Zone of the Dyson Sphere! Check out details about the newest Battlezone in this entry of the Season 9 News Dev Blog series.
Is there going to be any ground content in Season 9? So far we have a new ground set from the rep plus ground kit modules in the rep, and a major kit revamp to go with it, but no new ground content has been announced. Something coming or is this season going to be 100% space content?
We knew about the third zone already. I think this much like a distraction.
Um... we knew about it from Tribble. They hadn't made the official announcment yet. They do this every time we have a ramp up to a new season. New Dev Blogs every day. Not a distraction, just more promo materials.

I guess I'm a still a little aggravated about losing passive skills that I worked on for hours to earn that Cryptic is stripping away.

Yes, they are remastering the Borg and Undine episodes.

Same here I just can't get interested or excited about this with the many hours spent earning all my 23 characters I worked on with reps just to get them stripped away. Such a blow that I'm not even doing mirror or logging in anymore just going to move on and say farewell to STO lol.
If there isn't worthwhile gear to grab from the new Undine content, there's no point in leveling the rep. This sounds less like more story content, and more like new grind-o-matic content.

Though, this is not necessarily a bad thing? Better that way, to do it if you enjoy it, than to feel like you have to grind it up to have all the shinies.

Yay! Season 9, just became "The Sphere: Part 2" as far as I'm concerned. What's wrong with making an actual NEW "Fluidic Space" based adventure zone? Why must you guys rehash The Sphere from Season 8, but now with added Species 8472?

I agree. When I saw the update. I was like oh really. I busted my chops to get this far. I use to play for hours per day, now it's only a few minutes at best. That's mainly to chat with the people I know.
Getting tier 5 on each character was hard. Just to see Cryptic say there is a power gap. I seen so many bad builds of Scimitars and Jem Hadar (JHAS) ships getting blown into pieces, I don't think power gap is the issue.
Wait, you are replacing the both space zone, or setting this junk next to it? You know what nvm I don't much care as I'm still p.o.'ed about yesterday's blog.
I understand, because of the 4 year anniversary mission, they have to do this, but PLEASE, for season 10, bring out the good old story content again! Please!
Hopefully I'll come back from my break; this break is fun; I play intellectual games.
Sigh. I've literally been asking for the next season to be story related and not centered around the combination of a single zone/reputation combo since the day after that big pokeball full of boredom and nonsensical dinosaurs written by richard dawkins dropped. This game is turning into a real one-trick pony show. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, I'm sure others came before me and felt the same circa nukara, defera, new romulus...
Still, guys. You're capable of so much more. I'm disappointed.

Maybe not many people likes Dinosaurs without Cadillacs and Cryptic hopes the Undine get the job done?
You go halfway across the game just to participate minimally in some activity where pretty much everyone else is outdoing you and getting better rewards.
And if the preview I saw of the 8472 reputation items is accurate, I have no reason to collect isomorphic injections, since the set items are meaningless for me.
And the Dilithium you may gain is equally worthless, since there are more efficient ways to gather it.
I prefer Queues to earn the marks/drop item, since they can be done from anywhere in the game and don't impact your normal activities.
I'm uncertain if they've implemented one in STO to earn 8472 marks, but I hope they have, just to provide an alternative.

Okay, so first they take away the Commendations, now they want to just Pffftttt with the Voth and introduce the Undine as the new "bad boys" for the Dyson Sphere storyline. BRILLIANT! What next oh lets redo the Reputation now for Dyson and make it UNDINE! Wow know a lot of gamers are going to be flaming and raging over that as well. And "Modified Planet Killers"? Okay, no offense but I midise well say this. This sounds very much as a cosmetically revamp makeover job of "Into the Breach" go to big ship, destroy it to complete. Blah blah and all that. Yeah so as if Voth wasn't enough to go along with for story line now they go with the Undine.
So now my question to Perfectworld. When is this game going where no game has gone before? When will we "actually" see flotilla's for our toons? When are we actually see a REAL PVP that actually sees the outcome of the developing day for the game itself? Like oh so many other games are doing as we speak. When will Star Trek Online "actually" feel more like the actual Star Trek Saga itself based upon the franchise theme over this constant "craft and grind" formula? When is Perfectworld actually going to release the level cap revamp that you constantly hear about on the forums? And for Pete sakes what about an actual "Neutral Zone War" that could decide the daily outcome of what star systems and routes starships can travel to based on what faction occupies it? I mean seriously you see something similar to this on "Uncharted Waters Online" based on what factions have fought for what trade routes rather or not they would be considered as Safe or Lawless Waters. THIS is what Perfectworld needs to think about for us gamers. A Universe, and environment that the players can feel "immersed" in. And that the game feels more tangible at heart to Star Trek itself.

There is no ground, only a space zone.
Also, the space zone (unlike the Voth ground zone) sucks for rewards....
I'm fine with that, keep the Ground Battlezone alive!

TRIBBLE Hydra! Hail Janeway!
This isn't a distraction at all, we have not had a Dev Blog on this zone yet.
As for the Voth:
DING DONG, THE VOTH ARE GONE, DING DONG THE WICKED VOTH ARE GONE!
I hope STO get's better ...

You are not losing anything, you just cannot use them all at once, you still have them.
