I still have a bunch of unused Dyson Commendations. What will become of those when S9 drops? Will they be auto-converted to marks, and if so, at what exchange rate?

Everything looks great at first glance, so I can't wait until this update gets implemented. This will make reputation grinding on my second and third characters, which I had previously ignored for the most part, go much faster.

I'll admit that I actually liked commendations, since I only had to jump on, complete one mission, complete the project, and log off again. I didn't pay much attention to the other reputations after the Dyson update because I realized that I just didn't have time to run STFs, Romulan missions, Nukara missions, etc. along with run around the galaxy trying to find discounted commodities to fill the rest of the project.

This looks like it's going to make so many things better. One mission per reputation per day gets you enough marks to complete the daily and hourly projects, giving you plenty of rep xp and two reward crates every day, for every reputation, plus a few extra marks that will add up by the time you hit Tier 5.

I'm surprised they're not adding a new tier in this update. I really want to see when we can get these new sets of MACO, Honor Guard, and Omega armor that I'm seeing so many times, maybe some new EV suits for Nukara and a ground set for the Romulans?

And I'm sorry, but I have to ask again... When are we getting the Enterprise MACO Uniforms!? Just take my money, Cryptic!

Wow.. sounds great and makes me really happy.. :D !!! One question about the Reward Packs.. will the Omega ones have a chance to contain Borg Neural Processors (similar to the Voth Cybernetic Implants being in Dyson packs sometimes) or will they stay STF only?

I was already eager to see what Season 9 had in store, but this?

This just makes it all the sweeter, really. A rather eloquent and simplified system and one that I am absolutely looking forward to, not to mention the improvements in the gear sets!

    Well done, Cryptic!

Funny how people loved the commendations but because it was getting people to tier 5 too fast rather than the gimmick of need 29-32 for the big xp project and the mission aware like 1 or 2 marks under what you need so you need to run a mission twice so average time of 30 minutes per character a day. Then because the way the dyson rep worked with commendations that 30 minutes turned out to be 5 minutes so even though we loved the commendations because it didn't confuse anyone really it was a great thing but same BS when ppl say one thing then we have this propaganda that it was too confusing but in reality its just to try to get people to spend more time in the game lol.

Very good changes. Finally no hypos, shield charges and power cells getting removed from the tray when filling up reputation projects. No more commodities to buy. I like it alot.

I'm gonna miss the reputation given by the "small" projects though. I understand they will only give you XP once a day after the change. I've always been able to reach tier V of Dyson reputation 2-3 days earlier.

I never found fault in farming commendations, but the marks themselves (except dyson ironically, which are easy to farm quickly), while I will miss commendations, I will much prefer getting enough marks per pve queue (looking at you romulan marks) to actuall fill the daily projects.

I am a multi-character user, and grinding reps has ALWAYS been the worst part of STO to me, especially seeing as the good rewards cost a crippling amount of marks (what with the pve 1 hour cooldowns) and nearly all require T5 in that rep. Dyson always felt like an improvement, easy to get marks, quick levelling, and the good gear slowly dripped out to you so you have the time to get the marks while still progressing, rather than just stockpiling them or being inclined to trade them for an all too small bit of dil.

If you can't solve it logically, solve it like a moron.

51 + 1 Foundry Character Slots is NOT enough. Some of us love our characters. If I want to buy more character slots, why can't I? I couldn't experience the entire Delta Recruitment event without deleting a character.

The Iconians themselves can't time travel because their memories revert, but there is nothing to say an Iconian couldn't write everything she needed to do on a PADD, pin it to herself, travel back, read the PADD, do the tasks and return. Or just get one of her Non-Herald underlings to go back in time for her.

Want a Star Trek themed starship command fan-made Board Game that isn't fiendishly complicated but not so easy it's a joke? Download mine for free here. https://roebot56.deviantart.com/art/BOARD-GAME-R56-s-Starship-Command-STAR-TREK-Edn-682732468 A Stargate version of the game is available from a link in the description.

Oh yeah, I do Foundry missions for both KDFs and Feds. Just search KSTF (Short for Kinas Special Task Force, where Kinas is the name of the Admiral you will be serving under). The earlier ones are less story based and more combat based, while the later ones have a much heavier story element, but keep the large battles.

Let me analyze this. It is mostly good, but I got some problems.

    Good:
-No commodities needed for older reps.
-The Nukara set was fine, but the reman/Romulan did need a big buff.
    -Costume unlock improvement.
    -No more store unlocks.
    -Reward packs.

    Bad:
    -No more commendation projects.
-Expertise cost for Dyson rep. Expertise cost for reps is the worst part of it all, worse then mark or EC grind needs.

The big problem is the Expertise cost. If the 2500 XP project only needed marks, this would not be trouble.
Let us wear Swimsuits on Foundry maps or bridges please! I would pay zen for that.

Small have been turned into hourlies, so in effect, much more productive. As for the lack of having to spend around 2mil EC per rep, per character, that is nothing but good. A single day with buying expensive commodities costs about as much as this new system will cost total.

Any new items like Warp Cores for the older sets, romulan rep ground sets or addition of the currently unavailable costumes?

Overall it seems like they are balancing it out to how it worked before the sponsorship tokens so that they can keep the players with very few characters extremely busy grinding. Although those of us who have built up many many alts over the years will be punished again with this revamp heh.

At which point new players won't find a 24 hours day enough to grind for all rep systems?

at first, was very disapointed to see the commendations getting removed, they made rep grinding almost painless. but the bonus marks once a day really is the beter way to go about it, AND a whole lot easier to retrofit to the older reps

"It’s important to note that the cost of these projects is constant, meaning they do not increase tier over tier. So, the Mark input cost will be 30 at all tiers instead of 10 at tier I and 40 at tier IV for example."

    AWESOME

the Reward Packs are nice, im glad those are staying and spreading to other rep. stores auto unlocking is great too

Romulan/Reman space sets and the Nukara space set getting buffed? great news, theres no reason for any rep sets to be worse then the stf sets

I don't understand why Nukara is being buffed (it's not bad, but not great either), the reason it was worse than the omega sets was because it cost less. As for the Rom/Reman ones, maybe they were bad because nobody who didn't spend a week tagging epohh had the marks to spare to actually buy them.

    reputations need more redesign....
-account wide marks (better for alts)
    -warp cores in space sets
FaW+DEM+AtB in pvp = High score , no skill.
    PVP 2014 - Fawn00bs,Vapers and leavers...

    Only one question, well, 2.

    1. Will pre-exisiting sets get the auto costume unlock?
    2. Will the Be'ves chest window finally come back with either the normal or adapted HG set?

Looks good. A welcome change to reps.

Dev blogs posted on arc still suck to read on a phone. You have to zoom in to make the words big enough to read but then have to scroll back and forth because there is no wordwrap.

This is awesome. I'll actually do the other reps now.

One question: It mentions costume unlocks for items. What exactly is that, and how do I unlock them?

The 2k project gets a boost to 2.5k. You only need to run 2 hourly projects to get the same XP as if you were doing the original style.

Two hours per character per day isn't possible with a lot of characters.

On a side note, I bet you need more resources to do the projects to get the original projects XP count.

I will also say that the part I was most excited for with Dyson rep style adaptation would be no EXP requirements for the daily project, guess that's out the window.

I like the daily bonus idea... and doin it with a larger bundle of marks is nice because you can use them for either rep or gear. your choice. As far as the choice of missions to complete... I would like to see more variety there.... with relatively equal rewards. The dyson space combat stuff was fun and not a a terrible way to get marks (quick missions with lots of variety), but the rewards were far too small, and the lack of dilithium made them pointless. The ground combat was far more rewarding in marks and the dilithium was great. No one touches the space stuff when it rewards so little. I think more people would have enjoyed the option if it paid out the same for your time. I'd also like to see more options... the idea of asking your group "so what would we all like to do today" is far more enjoyable than saying "ok... time to run the battleground... again". More rewards for more options would also be nice. The foundry event to reward marks is a great change in pace, and wish it would be the norm. Also... running episodes for marks would be great as well. there's tons of repeatable content there that no one has ever even touched. This game has tons of replayability that's being wasted... because the rewards make it too pointless to replay (or even play at all).

Will all the reputation mark rewards be updated as the nukara mark were to be consistient with the dyson sphere level of play reward? Example. 5 marks for omega and 10 marks for romulan verses 25 for nukara and dyson missions.

When I saw that Commendations we hardly knew ye I braced for the worst.

I have to say though, I'm greatly pleased with these changes. Along with the incoming modular kit changes and the upgrade in accomodations in Earth Spacedock it looks like Season 9 is gonna be "a grand slam and the Pike City Pioneers win the World Series!!"

What would Cryptic's STO Baseball team be called?

The only problem with Season 9 is...well it's not here yet. :P
    beldacar wrote: »
Q: Will this change affect sponsorship in any way?
I would think not since they didn't mention it.

In addition that is something that is already implemented across all the rep systems.
    sentinel64 wrote: »
these are the changes I have been waiting for... the only rep I have completed on any toon is the Dyson Rep (one toon has all the other ones completed to tier4 when I totally lost interest in the grind). The only toons with end-game ship/ground gear are those either from Dyson or the old STF acquisition (drop and raffle).

When this new method is incorporated into the rest of the reps, then I will actually get my one toon through the final tier V's and actually get some gear (since the price and miscellaneous stuff will be removed from gear buying).

The only question... why did take so long to do this change.
Legitimately I think they wanted to datamine the ever loving TRIBBLE out of Season 8 and the Dyson system before they came to a final decision.
Any new items like Warp Cores for the older sets, romulan rep ground sets or addition of the currently unavailable costumes?

For the Great Bird's sake please put in a MACO warp core with the Asynchronous Warp Field Transwarp drive.

Looking forward to the Nukara set revamp. I've always loved the visuals on it, but it was such a subpar set that I couldn't justify using it. Nice to see it's getting some attention.

What will be the fate of any half-completed reputation console projects (e.g. slotted, partially filled) when the new rep system goes live?

I realize simple answer would be to complete prior to go-live... but not enough Dilithium yet is not enough Dilithium yet.

Changes seem much more efficient going forward. Bittersweet as I've maxed T5 rep on all fronts already, but c'est la vie. Just have to ensure I don't do a comparison now/then to determine how many marks I could have saved...

Overall - it sounds great. I like the changes.

Overjoyed that the reman/romulan sets are getting a boost ;)

Thrilled beyond measure that the best addition - the sponsorship program - remains intact ;)
