Regarding the Secondary Deflector, they may have actually wanted not to give away that they were doing these ships (although everybody knew) - so it may be something that's addressed when they're released...though outside of the beta groups that test the ships, I'm not sure how you'd know that it actually didn't work with the other ships...and if you were part of one of those groups, well - you couldn't tell us about it...so just speculation?

Well, the blogs both make mention of the Secondary Deflector being available on the Anniversary version, so i'm going to assume until it's stated otherwise by the Devs that that's the only place it's available.

In which case, as I said, it's an incomplete package and Cryptic have a nerve charging us for ships that don't have the full set. Even if you buy all of the ships, you're going to be missing out on bits. Unless the Anniversary ones are available after the event ends - which, if they are, they'll almost certainly be going into the Lobi store, or the Fleet shipyard - then the Secondary Deflector and the Warp/Sing core are lost to anyone who didn't do the event or joined after it ended.
You're just a machine. And machines can be broken.

    Everybody's welcome to their opinions...
Um, yeah...I don't put on the slow jazz and invite guys that are girls or girls that are guys to my bridge - so I've got nothing to say about bridges.

Wouldn't that have been sixth? Meh, but I suppose it's extremely important for the folks that are playing the Barbie 'n Ken Star Fashionstravaganza, eh? Then again, there are several ships out there with zero customization options...

What the hell that suppose to be? What the hell someone preference have to do with bridges? Unless you got some really messed up sexist or hatred for certain type of people.

I tend to visit my bridge a lot. I really enjoy seeing unique bridges and hybrid bridges. Technically, three factions would not have the same bridge type and they truly don't look unique.

As for the ships, no they do not look unique enougth. We seen Voyager and Enterprise with some Borg tech. They still look unique to the Federation. The Scimitar and Narenda has Borg tech and look unique. The Narenda and Enterprise looks totally different. Different looks is not the direction Cryptic with it. At least not 100% effort, maybe 50% effort.

If we was in the Navy there would be no options for customization but I can gurantee the bridges and compartment would look unique to whatever ship. That would be based on whatever upgrades or other parts of the ship.

Now tell me why a Defiant ship can have a bridge and engineering of a Galaxy class? Or, there was shown some circular hallways in the new player tutorial but I haven't seen that in one ship that is playable. Mind you ships has saucer sections.

Oh, my bad - totally misunderstood what you were saying there then. Yes, they definitely would need to make that deflector available at some point for folks that joined the game after the anniversary or weren't able to (or simply didn't want to) run it.

I thought you meant available as it would only be able to be used on - wasn't thinking, and my apologies for that. Have to wonder if they'll do what they did with the Ody/Bort (though they didn't do that with the Ambassador/Kamarag)...but yeah, definitely a very good point (imho) to bring up that Cryptic should likely have an answer for folks...

...again, my bad - totally misread what you were saying there.

I don't cyber in STO...don't care what preferences or lack of preferences anybody has...I don't cyber in STO (Hell, I don't cyber).
I tend to visit my bridge a lot. I really enjoy seeing unique bridges and hybrid bridges. Technically, three factions would not have the same bridge type and they truly don't look unique.

Why? Honestly...outside of needing to go inside the ship for a mission here or there, there's nothing there. It looks cool? Yeah, they definitely have some cool bridges - the art guys do some awesome work. But uh...you see it and that's pretty much it. It's eye candy.

Still say you have to be joking or trolling. With just the three images of the ships, it's blatantly obvious which ship is KDF, which is Fed, and which is Rom. I mean...it's right there - obvious as can be. Oh wait, you're saying unique unto themselves - not unique as to faction? They look too close to other KDF, Fed, and Rom ships? See, that doesn't make sense either...now, I'm totally confused by what you're trying to say there...
If we was in the Navy there would be no options for customization but I can gurantee the bridges and compartment would look unique to whatever ship. That would be based on whatever upgrades or other parts of the ship.

The bridge would reflect the intended scope of the roles the vessel would perform. There would be obvious similarities, standard aspects simply because of the nature of the overall type of vessel and those that would be operating said vessel...but there would be differences that existed because of intended roles/changes in technology/etc/etc/etc.

So is it a case of expecting there to be 12 different bridges for the Dyson Destroyers?
Now tell me why a Defiant ship can have a bridge and engineering of a Galaxy class? Or, there was shown some circular hallways in the new player tutorial but I haven't seen that in one ship that is playable. Mind you ships has saucer sections.

They haven't really spent all that much time on designing unique interiors for all the ships. What percentage of the playerbase actually spends enough time inside the ships to justify that kind of investment on their part? There are...hrmm...

    106 Federation Ships

    78 KDF Ships

    42 Romulan Ships

    26 Non-Faction Ships

...which would be a lot of work - for how much return on the investment?

Oh, no doubt it can be pretty silly in some cases - definitely pretty silly - but again, they'd need a return on the investment to justify the investment.

Its ironic. When it comes to the television series, the majority of the time is spent on the ship. rofl... If there were much more meaningful things to do, I would visit my ship's interior on a daily basis. I do not think the duty officer missions are worth the effort.

I like the design of the ship interiors; however, they lack serious functionality and purpose.

Visit the ship to work on duty officer missions?

So what. I would rather do something else.

The pacing of the shows was also much slower than we have in STO. We're more zipbamzipboom starfighter than starship. It would be awesome, imho, if it were more RPG-like...if we were on the bridge, looking out the viewscreen - giving commands to our officers, getting feedback from them...and that the pacing and feel was like Star Trek.

Instead, we've got a spammy third person shooter that's one or two steps away from being a game that could have been on an Atari 2600.

BTW, the missions I mentioned are storyline missions requiring you to visit your ship interior - heh, I don't visit the ship to DOFF.

I don't Cyber and I don't know where you would get that statement from.

If they created a unique bridge when they make a new ship, just maybe that would of worked better from the start. A ship with a saucer in front would a saucer interior layout. Also, make a hybrid interior look hybrid. Still I think a ship layout meant for a ship 3 times bigger makes no sense.

No matter what you think or say.

My comment in Dev Blog #51 was removed due to forum maintenance, so I'll repeat my question:

What hull material options are going to be made available for those ships? Will we be able to use faction-specific hull materials?

It may sound silly to some people, but it's a matter of buy or no buy for me. I don't really care about the stats that much anymore, especially since this is basicailly the same ship sold 9 times, but at least I would like to be able to customize it to some degree. This is especially the case for the KDF variant, which I would love to see in some other colours than white/gray.

I wish the anniversary ship at least let me change the colors. Even if it was just the trim color.
That would be a huge bonus if that did that, a discount for people that own the Anniversary ship. That would be a good way to reward our efforts, by giving us a discount on the C-Store ones.

    But it'll never happen

You got the secondary deflector for free!

Separate note, during the downtime I noticed the server is using IIS (or at least has IIS error pages). No wonder the site went down. :D

I did not realize you agreed with me a little. From the first message, it felt like a attack towards me.

Needless to say, me showing the lack of customer support, got me a fair forum warning.

A question of perception and entitlement, I think; you get "the full package" of a 3-console set bonus, as with every other 3 pacl, but there is an extra bonus if you get the Anniversary ship. IMO this makes the 4th anniversary ship more meaningful than its predecessors - which were wholly obsolete once the Fleet / C-Store variants went live.

This model was clearly stated before the anniversary and if you didn't grind, you don't get. I would argue that you have lost very little in real terms - that 4-part bonus looks good but there is a huge associated opportunity cost. Equally, there is no reason why every item has to be available to every player all the time.
