Well I have finally got the first chapter draft of my story finished and will be uploading soonish for your reading pleasure and criticism, it is my first attempt at a long story so please be kind *he says only half jokingly*
It started out as an idea from one of the STO Forum literary challenges of the players character giving a speech to a Starfleet academy class, but there was also a thread of posting your characters back story so I have decided to combine the two.
The main character is Vice Admiral M-Jar-Bar who is giving the speech and the backstory is of him serving with my Alt character's S'ttel (a Caitian) father. how it develops from there I am still not sure but I hope to have a few thrills and spills along the way.
As said in a previous post the first part of my story is now up and can be found here. I hope to get the second chapter up very soon.
On another note, I was tidying some books away when I came across a copy of 'Enemy Unseen' by V E Mitchell, it's a ST story from Titan Books back from 1990 (ISBN 1-85286-315-3 for those interested) and basically has Kirk trying to mediate a diplomatic mission and various people get killed while on route.
It turns out that the 'villain' can be described as a Ferasan but of course the home planet the book gives is totally different, what I want to put out for discussion is how can books like this be used to give background to story's or characters we create, at best they are head cannon but when writing storys we want to make things as rich as possible.
lol, well when my launcher stops working, I will be leveled and all set for my new gaming life in Star Wars. Possibly even make up adventures for my cat there to film. I usually keep up with all of sto's events but realized the other day that PWE doesnt listen to cats, so playing STO is kinda pointless now since I wont have a future here when ARc ends beta, due to my unwillingness to add arc to my new pc. SWTOR, will be my new home. So I logged out...
SW tor is nowhere near STO's greatness, but at least it isnt required to be like ARC. =U.U=
But TOR is owned by EA. And being EA, that means you are being forced to download Origin. Both of which are why you will never see me in TOR. So, would you rather be forced into downloading Origin, or forced into downloading ARC? To me, it seems the same predicament.

^ truth
Arc or Origin, same thing to me, i'd rather put up with Arc cause i like STO better, and after playing SW TOR for a while, i'm never going back to that game
howdy all, got a few characters of my own (i use them everywhere, from STO to Skyrim, even going to have them in ESO when it comes out ^^)
Mrr'Sha, Ferasan, Tac
Shi'rawl, Ferasan, Sci
Ra'sha, Caitian, Eng
they all have backstories.....but that'd make this post a good deal longer than i want lol XD
KDF for Life! Romulan at Heart Fed cause they made me ~ :P
Exactly. Whether you are forced to download ARC or Origin, you are still being forced into downloading something you don't need, or want. So you might as well enjoy STO while ARC is still optional.
That said, I actually PAID to buy the retail version of STO, and my disc launcher is perfectly good. If Cryptic disables the disc launcher, that is nothing short of a f*** you to everyone who used real money to buy the retail version. It is bad business. And if ARC ever does become mandatory, I am gone, permanently.

People hate change. ARC isn't a bad thing, everyone that's saying they're going to quit over it is just being silly. If you have your panties in that big of a bunch just download Steam you silly willies.
I'm almost tempted to make a video explaining why it's not a bad thing. You'll all finally be able to enjoy my lovely voice. :P

^Exactly how i feel. Im also just getting tired of flamers trying to prevent my attempt to preserve the launcher that i currently use. Its almost like they WANT to help force ARC on those who dont want it. This ARC situation reminds me of the TNG episode where everyone kept getting hooked to that eye game, and forcing others to get hooked to it to, so those aliens could steal the ship.
The problem is it being MANDATORY. As long as it stays optional, I have absolutely no issue. If you want to use ARC, by all means, go ahead. But I am not going to be FORCED into downloading it, and certainly not after paying real money for the retail STO disc that works perfectly well.

What was the name of that episode?
It was called 'The Game' season 5 ep. 6 and unfortunately had Wesley in it.
Wesley Crusher returns to the Enterprise on vacation from the Academy only to discover a mysterious alien game infiltrating and controlling the crew.
I just still don't understand how it is different than being forced to use the normal launcher?
Ive been listening to the released info by sparklesoft about how it works. My normal launcher just opens the game. The ARC program is designed to monitor you and your activity, they say its to catch cheaters and gold sellers. But they also mentioned they can take screenshots of u in game and can use it to access your password too. I have a fast pc, so neither arc or steam would slow me down, the point is they are going too far with things. If I wanted steam to monitor me I would have already downloaded it. As it stands, I also bought STO by disc and by accepting the end user agreement, I am within a legal contract with "Cryptic" as long as STO and the installed launcher is on "my pc" (unshared) I am supposed to have the rights to play it (with my original launcher) as long as the game exists! I never cheated or had a reason too, I infact was always happy to invest money through the purchase of a lifetime sub and c-points to keep them going as this was my first mmo and favorite to date. They also mentioned that they will be adding more things to it later on, but wont release what it is yet. I figure its because people like me have pointed out their ork mischief and players are now aware that they maybe up to no good, and watching em a bit more closer now! ..and they dont wanna slowdown the forced signups for new players.
on another note, now that I think about it, I dont look down on gold sellers anymore, I may put their annoying bots on ignore, but who wouldnt wanna play videogames for a living? That would be awesome!! I wish Cryptic paid me to play their game, I would gladly be willing to leave behind working 12 to 15 hour nights in a hot factory, to rocking the day away gaming with my cats. =^.^=
EDIT: Of coarse if I did that I would most likely get fat, so my life is still a blessing.

Exercise when not at work and don't eat tons of snacks.

my work has a gym right next to the cafeteria, I use my lunch hour to workout. I eat fish and vegetables from my garden. live on real milk from my cow, and fresh eggs from my chickens. ...during the week i generally get 2 to 3 hours of sleep perday, i try to get a little game time in everyday before bed, lol. and generally run 3-5 miles per day. I also take note to stay away from any processed and sugary foods...but still sneak a slice of pizza every now and then.
I dont have time to play sports anymore, but still try to stay in shape.
