Random Lockup /Freezes in STO

I have all my drivers updated and STO is the ONLY game or instance where this happens to my PC. However, I get constant lock ups in STO that requires hard resets and i am worried it will damage my HDD.

My Spec:

AMD 9590 5Ghz 8 Core CPU ( Temp at 58C at high load)

ASUS Sabretooth 990FX R2.0 Mobo

8GB RAM ( 1333Mhz)

Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X OC Graphics card. ( Temp 65-70C at high load)

Samsung EVO 256GB SSD

Windows 8.1

I use this rig to run BF4 on Ultra settings without a problem. I hope you can help since this is game breaking for me.

PS: I have also tried re-installing with Arc, Steam and standalone. Same deal.

    I have even tried re-installing Win 8.1 with the same result ONLY in STO.

    Any ideas?
