So I am looking to purchase a ship for my Klingon, and I was really liking the Mogh. But I was also debating on a ship for one of my other characters and I noticed that the Mogh is getting a little shafted on its console slots compared to the 5/3 class ships of the other factions, Especially the 5/3 Warbird dreadnoughts.
Am I missing something?
There isn't much to compare with. It's got the exact same number of slots as any of the others. The Scimitars are outliers and always have been. Kumari's an escort. Different role. Avenger's got the same layout.
Edit: I am referring to the fleet version. Scimitar and Kumari are examples of the 10-console Cstore ship, like the Vesta, the Oddy and the Bortasqu. The Mogh and the Avenger get 10 consoles on their fleet versions.
The Mogh can upgrade to a Fleet version, which gives it 10 consoles like the others, as well as enhanced shields and hull. The other two you're looking at, the Kumari and Scimitar are 10 console out of the box, but don't get the shield/hull improvements. Plus they cost $50 for the full set, whereas the Mogh is $25 plus $5 to go Fleet. Its a tradeoff.
Plus both of those ships are highly tactical ships, both coming with Cmdr tacs. The Mogh is a battlecruiser, making it always have a base Cmdr eng no matter what.
Yes it does share the 5 forward weapons with the Scimitar, Kumari, and Avenger, but that is where the direct similarities end (except to the Avenger), the rest is apples and oranges.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.
Nope, Shatner is a Starfleet exclusive. Oh wait, nevermind, carry on! :P
Joking aside, nope, the Mogh is not getting the shaft and I have no idea why would you think such a thing. Nothing wrong with the console layout, pretty much classic for a Klingon assault battlecruiser. Everything is just fine. More than fine, so far my Mogh has been exceeding my expectations.

Actually no. The Mogh is $20 total to go fleet unless you want the console and/or to have it on multiple characters.

Have you considered the Fleet Tor'khat instead of the Mogh? I was flying Tor'khat long before they decided to copy its layout and make the Avenger, then reskin Avenger to make the Mogh.
Same console layout, same BoFF layout, same hull and shields... loses one forward weapon slot, gains one rear weapon slot, gains a significant amount of maneuverability.

BOff layout is different, and the hull is higher on the Fleet Mogh. 10 versus 9 turn isn't huge.

The Mogh is the exact same as the Avenger, except it has a cloaking device as an innate power (the avenger must equip the cloak console). If you were to have the avenger cloak Vs a Mogh, it'd be one console down.
The Kumari is a 5/2 setup.
As for the Scimitar, it's a Romulan ship so it's designed to be crazy overpowered. 5/3 weapons slots, battlecloak, singularity powers like quantum absorption and singularity jump, scramble sensor spamming frigate pets, 5 tactical consoles, Romulan crit boosting boffs. Best DPS ship in the game by a large margin.
Like others said it just needs a upgrade to fleet version to get 10 consoles, it only costs 1 module to do that if you own the z-store version. I found the torpedo console to be mediocre so if you just need the Mogh for 1 character you may want to skip the z-store version and just buy the fleet version outright.
I found the Mogh to not quite pack the same punch as my Bortasqu using beams or DHC and since I can pilot the Bort good, I went back to that as my go to battlecruiser, boff layout is better, 1 more tac console, and more hull at the expense of some maneuverabilty.

I love my Mogh. I only really bought it to support KDF development, but when I started flying it I was blown away.
That's not normally considered a desirable quality in a ship, but in this case, I'm inclined to think it was something you did, since getting blown away is specifically what doesn't happen when I fly it.

Mogh turns alot better, also easily more survivability, it's also hardly comparable to the scimitar. I don't see how its getting shafted if it came out after the scimitar.

It is also easier to get the Fleet Tor'khat than the Mogh due to the way they put these in Shipyard Tiers and the Mogh console from the C-Store is a joke.
To a large extent, besides looks, I would either go with the Tor'khat for a slightly faster version of the ship or the Bortasqu' Tactical for a heavier tank and even more brutal spike damage if you are more inclined towards big hulking beasts. (Full 3 consoles on that last one)
Hell even the non fleet mogh is a nasty customer. I like my Mogh. Well worth the 25 bucks along with the avenger.

Between the Fleet Mogh and Fleet Tor'Khat I would go toward the Mogh myself, more so if you have multiple characters. Getting more than one Fleet Tor'Khat can get expensive as no discount for C-Store version.

The BOFF layout on the Mogh won't let you hit as hard with a beam configuration like the Fleet Tor'kaht will.
It really just depends on what you want to shoot with it. If you're fine using cannons than the Mogh will do fine in that role for PvE.
Yes and no. The Tor'kaht is actually geared far more towards cannons than the Mogh. Reason? Tor'kaht comes with the LtCmdr Tac and Lt Tac, with a Cmdr Engi and Lt Engi, which doesn't allow you to cycle EPtW as reliably/effectively. However, it will allow you to use cannon buffs regularly and nastily.
The Mogh on the other hand comes with the ability to *throws up in a corner* use Aux2bat quite nicely, which others (myself NOT included) have found works great with Beams. And even if you don't run Aux2bat, it will guarantee you a 100% uptime on EPtW (which is crucial for beam users).
Or you can just do what I do, run DCEs, and kill things for the sake of killing them, for the honor of your family, your fleet, and just for the sake of killing them because they aren't Klingon.

Putting aside the fact that there is no C-store version of the Tor'kaht (Vor'kang doesn't count), this is true. You will get almost identical (some would argue better) performance out of the Mogh as a Tor'kaht, and you will be able to get it somewhat cheaper over multiple characters.
However, IMO, Tor'kaht is far smexier in appearance, soooooo yeah.

Not quite right also. Fleet ships can be obtained purely through EC.

Speaking from experience: it also does fine in PvP, with DHC's.
All fleet ships except the 200k FC ships (of which there is one per side) require 1, 4, or 5 fleet modules in addition to FC.
