Locked means the file is open, likely by another process.... First thing I would do is reboot your computer. That should clear any case of some background process that may still be accesing the file.

    Not always.

If you right-click on a file's properties, you can 'lock' a file manually. I did restart the computer, and I am still having the issue.

    An unknown file is locked.

I also ran the launcher in 'force verify', and it didn't find anything missing.

I've had similar issues in the past.
First thing I did was use task manager to manually end all Cryptic processes/programs running.
Next thing to do is look in the Star Trek Online folder and look under all the sub-folders until you come to a file which has the words "deleteme" in the filename/extension. Delete it and then try to relaunch the game. Sometimes the launcher/patcher doesn't delete the file for some reason.

I hope this works for you guys.

    Thanks for the information.

Unfortunately, I was not able to find the file.

Opened the game through ARC, downloaded and installed a 5GB patch and now it works correctly both through ARC and directly opening the launcher.

Why would I want to install Arc and waste more time downloading 5 Gig?

Okay, a quick search of other "solutions" to this problem.

Basically a file or directory is locked so the game can not access it.
If you are using win7 or vista be sure the launcher and gameclient.exe are set to run as admin
Sometimes antivirus program will lock a file or directory when scanning so do a reboot of the pc and set the antivirus program to exclude the game directory.
Also if using win7 or vista you will have problems if the game is installed in program files folder because of window's security feature for files in that directory.

Try running the launcher as Administrator...

<right click launcher icon> -> Run as administrator

Try this... otherwise we get drastic

I temporarily reinstalled the Arc program, and the launcher successfully patched the game. grrr... I didn't have to do anything else.

I guess the patch does something to the Arc files.

Thank you all for the feedback and help.

Anytime. Maybe all of us fools wanting the Khan outfit and downloading Arc was phase 1 of getting us all to rely on it permanently ;)
